Radiohead can be so clever with their compositions, switching keys mid song and having odd chord changes. But here, they achieved spiritual/euphoric, which is almost strange for them. But somehow it comes off as one of the most natural and unforced songs they've ever written.

The problem with hailing OK Computer as their masterpiece was that any album that followed it, regardless of whether it was better or not, would never receive the same praise. In Rainbows is one of the greatest albums of all time and will never be viewed as such. Shame really.

I think CeeLo Green is great. An unusual character to say the least with a very unique voice, much like Thom's. But I personally disagree. I've seen his cover of the song, and even though he nailed it....there is something special about Radiohead. I've seen them perform this song live, so...there might be a slight bias on my part. But Gnarls Barkley did do a bang-up job.

All the arguing about Muse and Radiohead. I love both bands. Matt may have the higher range, but there simply is no comparison to Thoms voice. There is so much emotion in every little lyric. Its not simply a song....its a feeling. You experience every Radiohead song differently and you always come out better for it. No disrespect to Matt and Muse at all, but there simply is none better than the almighty (and first) Radiohead.

i actually like muse but i dont think they hold a candle to radiohead, radiohead came first and more likely were an inspiration to muse. i dont think this is one of those "student surpasses the master" situations either, as far as im concerned radiohead is a timelessly classic band, and this song provides testament to their greatness. this album is collectively my favorite of theirs, i love every song as if it were my first born child.

This is my favorite off of In Rainbows. I was expecting something else, but this song just completely blew me away. I've never heard another song that sounds quite like this, so ethereal, almost like it's there, but not there.

@dragoon84 It's my favorite, too. I think I just realized this a week ago or so... all of a sudden it just kind of popped up ahead of the others! the opening percussion parts, the chill guitar, thom's soaring voice. and at when he goes down slightly at 3:18 ! i get chills.

And then Supermassive black hole just blows Radiohead out of the books. Muse is the best band in the world, and Matt has a much better and stronger voice and range than Tom.
