All I'll say is ..I was born too late ..:( ..but thankfuly my generation (the first of the gen Y's) still has some memories of great hairmetal (end of the 80's/early 90's) before things really began going downhill .. no disrespect to house and grunge (RIP Kurt) but nothing can trump glam and hard rock
Saw these dudes open for Bon Jovi in Landover Maryland and I was blown away by Ron and the boys... TRULY LOVED THIS ALBUM - Cherry Lane was my Fave!!!
Met Mark Ferrari and Brian Jay at a music store while they were on tour in 1985. Mark was super down-to-earth, and a really humble guy. Brain was an arrogant jerk.
80's headbangers remember headbangers ball? of course you do we'd wait all week to watch sat. night a whole gang of us passing the bottle a round just jamming, laughing watching who would pass out before the show went off, i believe it was what 3 hrs? we usually recorded it good times gone for good almost all of our crowd is either dead, married and stuck, or in jail now sad but true...
Keel was an interesting band. You could tell that the real star was Ron Keel and the rest of the group was no more or less talented than a local bar band. You can kind of tell this by the way Ron Keel overly hams up each performance to sell the image while the rest of the band does a good job of posing their way around him.
Take the video for Tears of Fire where they play a small town bar in the middle of nowhere, but make it look like Madison Square Garden. Good 'stage moves' tho.
@HitlerOnTheRoof ya he fucking kills it; thats what makes a good frontman though, whether or not the band aint as good as him. too bad really, i think thats exactly what held them back from radio success. now steeler on the other hand....
@kelcoke well, i agree the self titled keel album does have a more heavily over produced sound than the others. But i still like the album. This song & many others from it as well
Yeah you motherfuckers know that was me in San Francisco The City driving around North Beach Friday night in my new car with the 6000w stereo fuckin pumpin' this shit full blast all the girls were checking it out thinking, "he's got that sexy macho young gun rock kid shit goin'!" EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!!! I can still do it like that cause I'm a young lion like that motherfucker was on the guitar solo Marc Ferrari let em' have it homeboy

ron keel played also in steeler with yngwie malmsteen it is a matter of fact that i have that record from 1983 before yngwie expanded and later played with alcatraz
There is tons of great guitar work out there you just have to know where to look! Unsigned bands and most Prog/Power bands from all over Europe wail on guitar! Alot of the stuff coming out of abroad has strong 80's influence!
yeah, i think there are some good songs from rock today, but the problem i have is that the guitar is no longer glorified like it used to be. There is no SICK guitar riffs, and solos like this 80's rock, and earlier if you think about it. Today its like, how many times can i hit the same power chord. :/ lame. and some of the music that actually has better guitar, is some stuff like death metal and viking metal... no good. THIS STUFF ROCKS FOREVER MAN!!!
I would need thousands of hands to count how many people want this music back ;including myself. What I really want to say is maybe? it could have been a good idea for popular bands to take smaller bands and teach them. Sort of like; if the original band breaks up for whatever reason, theirs another band to fill in and so forth. What it boils down to is team work, 4 or 5 people in a band can't hold the world in their hands forever!
my first concert was keel in tayloville ill. why cant we make relavent music nowdays (rims and bitches withstanding)? 2nd show was tesla. then ace frehley. then the ozzy and metallica years. metal rules. its just hard to find good metal now-a-days. what up?
metalsyn is pretty close to accurate on the formation of Keel. A year or so before that Ron had a band called "Steeler". How do I know? Because my band did shows with them. Most memorable (to me) was the one in Irvine at the UCI campus.
@reditreefrogs: Arizona, actually, Prescott if I remember correctly
My kid brother bought me Keel's Final Frontier on cassette, I now own five of their albums. It's fun to blast them around the rap fans at work, drives them nuts.

die in a fucking fire. why the hell are you here if u apparently hate Keel you retard =.=. get a life other than looking up bands you dont like just to scoff at them, faggot.
Maybe you should check your dates. As far as I know, this song is from the album KEEL released 1987. The clip to You Give Love a Bad Name was released the summer of 1986, and was filmed in the middle of the Judas Priest tour the same year. I don't understand why people give me negative ratings either. Just check out the clip for YGLABN. It's almost identical.
