I used to live in the neighboring town (St George). The trucks that follow people are not working for the church. The are just young men trying to scare people. They know that people are scared of them and they are just having fun. If you are driving around taking video with California plates you are a prime target. Those of us who drive there to get cheese from the dairy, for instance, don't get messed with. In actuality they are passive farmers, easily spooked, and no danger to anyone.

My uncle has 8 wives. one is a schoolteacher, one is a doctor. his wives give him most of their money. They keep some to themselves for personal stuff but the rest goes to the head of the household. The man of the house works hard to feed everyone, and the kids income also goes to the head of the house to feed the kids. If a man has more money than it takes to feed his family he gives it to the church. The church needs millions of dollars to pay their lawyers from court cases.

@mompm In my religion, we believe in religious unity... but this man is obviously not following his religion correctly and is part of a cult. I used to be atheist... So I did believe like you do. I was raised open minded and Baha'is are very open minded in general. You shouldn't hate a religion as a whole, but instead learn to love the person. I hope that one day you see religions differently. They aren't foolish... there's bad in every religion. Even Atheists and Agnostics can be bad.

It's the fact that the belief system is based on controlling lies, that they teach children to fear hell, that they ommit one very important slice of science while accepting the rest. I do love a person who is relgious but not the dimensia that is their beleif system created by people. Hey my friend, I was born in the FLDS town. I remember most of my experiences. You did an excellent thing with this interview. I see how hard it was, when those guys intimidated you it was because they were attempting to protect their town. Some of them are murderers, some of them are opposite and wish to be murdered. I wanted to die when I lived there. Complicated beliefs, it would take a massive book to explain it all.

@PorkChopMissPiggy Well, every man with a family either owns a company or works for one. The men who own their own company employ their own children. Who work for free. The children feel like they owe their dad for feeding them. The dad's feel like it's justified because they are feeding their children. The men who work for someone else work by the hour mostly. Their children work for other companies in the community for low wages. I myself worked for $150 a week working 5am to 9 pm 6days a week

I mean if wife #1 is making more money than wife #2 do they share the money equally or do they keep the money for their own children? The share logistics of home finances and running the whole house boggles my mind. I don't know how your dad and moms(?) did it.

@PorkChopMissPiggy Everyone chipped in to help each other. Some kids hated giving money to their dads, some kids loved it. The loyal kids got wives before the other rebelious kids. The moms that made a lot of money were not required to have as many kids. The men were required to take care of the wives they have before they were given more. all marriages were arranged by the church. some men secretly chose wives and asked the church to marry them. the women didnt like anybody they were married to

I used to live in the neighboring town (St George). The trucks that follow people are not working for the church. The are just young men trying to scare people. They know that people are scared of them and they are just having fun. If you are driving around taking video with California plates you are a prime target. Those of us who drive there to get cheese from the dairy, for instance, don't get messed with. In actuality they are passive farmers, easily spooked, and no danger to anyone.

Warren Jeffs is a classic example of abuse of power from a power hungry sicko. Clearly he was abused and uses abuse to control people and their basic needs and sense of self. It's gotta be a bit older because the girls in the beginning of the video are not wearing the "newest" (one piece, no vests) style of clothing. Jeffs has gotten stricter on the clothing styles. It used to be just long hem and long sleeves and high neck. But then they got rid of floral prints and started making all one color dresses. So, it's been a few years. Plus, they caught W. Jeffs a few years back...
