  • The point of it was so it could be adjusted. I use it sometimes but found it was unrealistic. The black collars are used so the PVC can slip through the collars making the mechanism adjustable. I race on iRacing and use it daily...it is light weight and can be removed at will. If I started fresh I may have made it a little wider than I did.

  • What's the point of the upper protrusion that extends froward from behind the keyboard towards the tv, horrizontal to the floor?

    Just for looks?

Same reason for the black collars?

    Lettuce know.

    thanks

  • The wheel doesn't push away from you while sitting on the chair?

  • @Triple88a No, I have the chair that you push in and out.

  • YEEES. NO NFS SHIT . i love you (not gay)

  • I think it cost me 50-60 dollars.

  • Thats a great home-made stand! how much did it cost you in the end for all the piping and joints? please reply, becuase im going to make one very soon

  • Juls, What kind of seat are you using? Is that a AK Rocker 100? I am getting ready to built a rig, and will probably use your design since it looks like the seat and rig are two pieces. I will go and check out your google pics.

    Thanks

    Joe S.

  • What are the cut measurements?

  • Hi....It is just 1 ft and a half wide and 4 ft long. The bars that the steering wheel sets on is 20 inches from the floor.

Since the building of this I added a cup holder and a mechanism to hold the gear shift.

The steering wheel is bolted to the PVC by 2 bolts and nuts.

I use this all the time as I race on iRacing.

See you in my rearview mirror...:~)

  • Bro this is sick you made a cool cockpit.where did you get the piping? You painted them red?

  • I'm planning on using your idea to build me a racing cockpit. I wondered, would 1''1/2 ABS tubes be strong enough not to wiggle when turning the wheel ? I'm thinking ABS cuz at the hardware store they told me it was stronger and firmer. Also, 1 1/2'' is half the price of 2''. Is the ''dashboard'' very solid and the frame large enough not to tip over?

  • Hi Momorgoth,

I heard from plumbers that ABS will crack around the joints. So, I can't speak to ABS and give it a fair shake.

I am totally pleased with the PVC Racing Cockpit that I built. I did need to widen it because I originally had a Momo steering wheel and since purchased a G-25. The pedal base is much larger than the Momo pedals so I basically split it down the middle and added to it to make it about 3" wider.

I have found it to be very sturdy and I race weekly,,,

    Good Luck!

  • Any tutorials that will be available soon? Nice job btw

  • Hi James,

Go to Google and then click "More", then click on Photos. It will take you to Picasa by Google.

Once there type in or cut and paste the following: PVC Racing Cockpit for Wheel and Pedals

I have about 28 pics there that can help you put the puzzle together.

    Thanks,

    Juls

  • Absolutely Wicked. Nicely done. Also a great choice of car you'r driving ;)

  • unfortunately this would be that great for the "Buttkicker" :-(

  • I have been posting the link to all the pics everyday since you posted. For some reason they will not allow the link. Anyway, go to Google, click on more, find Picasa and bring up the web page for picasa and paste the following in the search window: PVC Racing Cockpit for Wheel and Pedals. Hopefully it will show up. I made all the pics public. Once two pics pop up then click under the pick "julian" and the other albums pop up. Crazy!

  • Would be cool to cover all that construction with some material, so it fits the rooms interior better and looks more solid :)

  • Looks to be a strong setup. What tubes are used?

  • I used the 2.5 inch tubes with an assortment of elbows and such. I think we spent about $80.00 on all the tubes, paint, rubber fittings, cap ends and velcro.

I will see if I can find the pics that has this all laid out and then you can see the different tubes used.

    Thanks for the comments...

  • Nice setup. You inspired me to run to lowes and price some PVC and fittings. I am considering 2" diam. tubing for mine. I have the logitech GT Force wheel of which has some resistance when turning it and force feedback when hitting cars/bumps. So I need tubing which is strong and stiff. This looks to take up little room. Why did you go with the rubber fittings? Do you have any pictures or video of it without the keyboard and wheel mounted on it?

Nice work and thanks for sharing.
