I have a HS80, I have a USB Cable so I can plug in from my camera to my computer but that's not working. I have the cable you have in this video but not the adapter. If i buy this adapter is this gona work or that like the same thing as my normal usb cable?
@ZeelivePvP No, you can't just use the USB cable for the camera, you would need to get the USB video capture device. If you're going to buy something just get a cheap webcam. This work-around will give you pretty bad video quality and no audio.
Hi, it's me again. I wonder what would be the best for me: To send my laptop to a repair shop for changing the webcam or buying a new one and install it. For your info, I have a webcam and tried to install it, but without good results. Thank you for your advices.
Hi, Is it possible to use my digital camera in my lap top (portatil) because its webcam is not working any longer? Thank you very much for your answer.
@mar9449 I already had the cables, so it made sense. If you have to buy the cables, it's not worth it. You can buy a webcam for as cheap as $10 that will be better quality video and will provide audio for you.
@rahuln1998 On the sony cables, the yellow is video, the black is mono audio. On the roxio video capture unit, their is a yellow for video, a white and red for stereo audio and another black connector for s-video.
@ricosuave607 If you have a digital camera, just take a video with the camera and upload it to YouTube. If all you want to do is record a video and upload it, you don't want to do this process.
@striderzer0 If it is, then that feature has been added since I made this video. At the time, the capture device was not selectable as a webcam in Skype.
@juicyfruit8597 If you have a normal webcam, then Skype will just recognize it and you can then Skype without the screen sharing. For practical purposes, I would recommend buying a cheap webcam. At the time, I didn't have a webcam, and I just wanted to see if it could be done. I now have a webcam that I use regularly with Skype. I have a review on the Logitech webcam that I got for under $40 on my channel.
@juicyfruit8597 Skype has changed slightly since I made this. You need to make a call, then there is a button that says "share" where you can choose to select the area of the screen showing with debut. Using this method will not allow you to run it directly into Skype as a webcam. This tutorial doesn't cover setting up audio (i just used an external mic) you could run the audio cable from you camera into the mic input and select it from within Skype, but I haven't tested this.
@juicyfruit8597 What are you using to plug into the computer? It must be a video capture device, and cannot simply be a usb cable that plug into the camera, there is a big difference.
@catman63879 I couldn't tell you for sure. If similar software is available for ubuntu, then yes, but I have not tried to accomplish this on ubuntu. If you get it working, let me know what you used.
@supagaupe2011 You will need some type of video capture device that works with the capture software. I don't know what specific devices work with it though. If you have a video capture device, you could test it, but I wouldn't recommend buying one just for this. It's much easier to just buy a cheap webcam. Prices vary a ton, but remember that rigging it up this way will not provide you with a microphone, while most webcams do.
i treid the cables yesterday on my camera. It are the same cables you have.
I found them in my closed. I hooked them up to my dvd player and good see myzelf on my tv, really funny. I think about try it, because on a webshop i found ausb thing for 16 euros. I think to give it a shot.
@Roosiesplace I would recommend just trying to find a cheap webcam, unless you want to just mess around with it and see if you can get it working. Remember that this method will not allow you to use the camera's microphone unless you route that in through an audio input on your computer, so unless you can figure that out (I've never tested it), then you would have to use a different mic.
@Roosiesplace Nope, it won't work with just a usb cable. It has to have video cables that go to a usb capture device. It would be cheaper to just buy a webcam if you don't already have the cables.
@volcomsk8r189 It appears that it has changed slightly in the newer versions of Skype. You will first need to start a video call by selecting who you want to call, then once the video call has started there is a button that says "share". You should be able to share your screen from there. Let me know if that works or not. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Hey! Thanks for this. I tried to do it, but it didn't work. I have a video capture device and software that I use to transfer VCR footage to computer. I tried to hook up my camera and tho it reads with the device software, I can't get it to capture with Skype or the other software I downloaded (Samsoft Webcam). Any ideas?
@titia905 You need to have a video capture device, like the one I have, you cannot just plug your camera directly into the computer via usb. If you do have a video capture device and its not working, try updating drivers. Otherwise you're out of luck if its not compatible with the Debut video capture software, which is very unlikely.
@anketell001 from what I found out when I researched the camera, it plugs in via usb (correct me if I'm wrong). This won't work. You need to plug video output cables into a video capture device.
@agentno923 Give me some more information. What kind of camera are you using and how does it plug into the computer? If it plugs in via usb, it won't work. It needs to have video output cables that connect to a video capture device.
@stupidmonkey121 Yeah it is. I only suggest doing it if you already have the equipment. I didn't have a webcam, and I was trying to find a workaround, because I already had the stuff.
@TheNewVideos It can be done if you have a firewire camera. As my camera is obviously not firewire, I devised a workaround just to see if it could be done.
@BrianMastermind The camera is just hooked up through its video output, so I will not charge from the computer. Mine was running off of its battery power.
@homeboy1004 Good idea. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you already have all the supplies needed. It would be much cheaper to just go buy a new webcam instead of buying the necessary supplies to do this.
mine is not working.....i have the grabster av 400 from magix....i can see it on that software from magix but i can see it on youstream, neither i cant see it on "devut video capture" what can i do...is it becoz of the drivers??
