  • Hey peeps if u have FireWire on ur camera use tht

  • okay i have an ecstention cord hooked up to my usb port will that work?

  • can i use usb for this?

  • @edeede23 Nope, you need a USB video capture device. The standard USB cable for the camera will not work.

  • @ThePierski ok thanks

  • thnx man xD

  • Hello!

I have a HS80, I have a USB Cable so I can plug in from my camera to my computer but that's not working. I have the cable you have in this video but not the adapter. If i buy this adapter is this gona work or that like the same thing as my normal usb cable?

    Thanks for any answer :)

  • @ZeelivePvP No, you can't just use the USB cable for the camera, you would need to get the USB video capture device. If you're going to buy something just get a cheap webcam. This work-around will give you pretty bad video quality and no audio.

  • @ThePierski can i use one that i hook in my to my tv?

  • Hi, it's me again. I wonder what would be the best for me: To send my laptop to a repair shop for changing the webcam or buying a new one and install it. For your info, I have a webcam and tried to install it, but without good results. Thank you for your advices.

  • hi bro ; i have nikon coolpix s400

  • can i use my sony digital camara as a webcam to do video chat with pppl?

  • @bigbabysuga That is exactly what this tutorial shows you how to do.

  • Hi, Is it possible to use my digital camera in my lap top (portatil) because its webcam is not working any longer? Thank you very much for your answer.

  • @mar9449 If you have the right cables and camera, so basically if you can follow this tutorial with your equipment, then yes.

  • @ThePierski Then, I will have to buy the cables shown in your tutorial. Thanks!

  • @mar9449 I already had the cables, so it made sense. If you have to buy the cables, it's not worth it. You can buy a webcam for as cheap as $10 that will be better quality video and will provide audio for you.

  • ThePierski may i know wat cable are u using..

  • @1607199616071996 I used a Roxio USB Video capture device that came with Roxio easy VHS to DVD

  • what does that black and yellow cable means

  • @rahuln1998 On the sony cables, the yellow is video, the black is mono audio. On the roxio video capture unit, their is a yellow for video, a white and red for stereo audio and another black connector for s-video.

  • Love you voice!!

  • thankyou a'ldo just that!

  • hi can i up lod my personal videos for every body to see it on you-tube with this proses? and how? tk's

  • @ricosuave607 If you have a digital camera, just take a video with the camera and upload it to YouTube. If all you want to do is record a video and upload it, you don't want to do this process.

  • Why do you use screen sharing? The capture device should be selectable as a webcam in skype options

  • @striderzer0 If it is, then that feature has been added since I made this video. At the time, the capture device was not selectable as a webcam in Skype.

  • @juicyfruit8597 If you have a normal webcam, then Skype will just recognize it and you can then Skype without the screen sharing. For practical purposes, I would recommend buying a cheap webcam. At the time, I didn't have a webcam, and I just wanted to see if it could be done. I now have a webcam that I use regularly with Skype. I have a review on the Logitech webcam that I got for under $40 on my channel.

  • @juicyfruit8597 Skype has changed slightly since I made this. You need to make a call, then there is a button that says "share" where you can choose to select the area of the screen showing with debut. Using this method will not allow you to run it directly into Skype as a webcam. This tutorial doesn't cover setting up audio (i just used an external mic) you could run the audio cable from you camera into the mic input and select it from within Skype, but I haven't tested this.

  • @juicyfruit8597 What are you using to plug into the computer? It must be a video capture device, and cannot simply be a usb cable that plug into the camera, there is a big difference.

  • can you use these steps with ubuntu linux 10.10??

  • @catman63879 I couldn't tell you for sure. If similar software is available for ubuntu, then yes, but I have not tried to accomplish this on ubuntu. If you get it working, let me know what you used.

  • can i use a s video capture device, s video/ usb The usb port is half of a circle,& i got it from amazon & how much does it cost

  • @supagaupe2011 You will need some type of video capture device that works with the capture software. I don't know what specific devices work with it though. If you have a video capture device, you could test it, but I wouldn't recommend buying one just for this. It's much easier to just buy a cheap webcam. Prices vary a ton, but remember that rigging it up this way will not provide you with a microphone, while most webcams do.

  • rad ho

  • hey is the easy cam cable mecessary to do this

  • @thekshitiz1 To do it this way, some form of a video capture device is necessary, yes.

  • can i go on skype wit you

  • hey

i treid the cables yesterday on my camera. It are the same cables you have.

I found them in my closed. I hooked them up to my dvd player and good see myzelf on my tv, really funny. I think about try it, because on a webshop i found ausb thing for 16 euros. I think to give it a shot.

  • @Roosiesplace I would recommend just trying to find a cheap webcam, unless you want to just mess around with it and see if you can get it working. Remember that this method will not allow you to use the camera's microphone unless you route that in through an audio input on your computer, so unless you can figure that out (I've never tested it), then you would have to use a different mic.

  • heey

i got a new camera, the samsung es30, but it only comes whit a usb cable, no video cables. Can this work for my camera?

    greats

  • @Roosiesplace Nope, it won't work with just a usb cable. It has to have video cables that go to a usb capture device. It would be cheaper to just buy a webcam if you don't already have the cables.

  • is that normal if my camera screen is black when everything is pluged? 0_0 HELP

  • Can I just use a easycap

  • @XDPiNoYXD Can't say for sure, but it should work.

  • Hey, i dont have share screen as an option...any help?

  • @volcomsk8r189 It appears that it has changed slightly in the newer versions of Skype. You will first need to start a video call by selecting who you want to call, then once the video call has started there is a button that says "share". You should be able to share your screen from there. Let me know if that works or not. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

  • @ThePierski i couldnt find it, i ended up just going and buying a new webcam. thanks for the help though.

  • Hey! Thanks for this. I tried to do it, but it didn't work. I have a video capture device and software that I use to transfer VCR footage to computer. I tried to hook up my camera and tho it reads with the device software, I can't get it to capture with Skype or the other software I downloaded (Samsoft Webcam). Any ideas?

  • You created a lot of hassle for my cuzin

  • humm looks like it works, thats cool but im not going to try it

  • hmm that sucks, it wont work by usb, i have all the wires, but my laptop doesnt have the connections for the cables

  • @fatalist1 It will not work plugging it in via usb. You have to use the RCA cables and go through a video capture device.

  • Hi, What can i do if i can not select this video capture device option, the option selected is screen capture and i can not change it...

  • @titia905 You need to have a video capture device, like the one I have, you cannot just plug your camera directly into the computer via usb. If you do have a video capture device and its not working, try updating drivers. Otherwise you're out of luck if its not compatible with the Debut video capture software, which is very unlikely.

  • dose this work on aim and other places?

  • @anketell001 from what I found out when I researched the camera, it plugs in via usb (correct me if I'm wrong). This won't work. You need to plug video output cables into a video capture device.

  • Not working for me. Not in Skype, not in MSN. I followed everything exactly.

  • @agentno923 Give me some more information. What kind of camera are you using and how does it plug into the computer? If it plugs in via usb, it won't work. It needs to have video output cables that connect to a video capture device.

  • @ThePierski Sorry, I commented on the wrong video. D: I had two tabs open about using a camera for a webcam.

  • can i use VGA video cable?

  • great, thanks

  • doing this costs more then a webcam lol

  • @stupidmonkey121 Yeah it is. I only suggest doing it if you already have the equipment. I didn't have a webcam, and I was trying to find a workaround, because I already had the stuff.

  • pause it on 1:41 hahahah so funny u c his head

  • ou come oe, cant this be done just with a fire wire?? damn, technology is getting worse every day...

  • @TheNewVideos It can be done if you have a firewire camera. As my camera is obviously not firewire, I devised a workaround just to see if it could be done.

  • will it still have to charge using the battery charger? or will it charge while the camera's connected?

  • @BrianMastermind The camera is just hooked up through its video output, so I will not charge from the computer. Mine was running off of its battery power.

  • My video stops like after 15 seconds. image is stucked.. how can i fix it

  • im sorry.. can i ask you what camera did u use? because i kinda like the quality..

  • I filmed using a sony cybershot DSC-W150

  • wtf!! 52 for that usb cable nah I'll just get a new web cam

  • @homeboy1004 Good idea. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you already have all the supplies needed. It would be much cheaper to just go buy a new webcam instead of buying the necessary supplies to do this.

  • @homeboy1004 lol mine cost 5€

  • When you webcam, is it able to pick up your audio?

  • Unfortunately no, this only works for the video part and you will either need a microphone or some kind of headset to pick up audio.

  • really help thx!!!!!!!

  • Can u use a usb

  • Thanks a lot! Many many thanks... Actually I do not have a webcam here. but its possible now to use my digicam as a webcam....Many many thanx... :)

  • thanx

  • will plugging the video cables directly into my video card work?

  • if the video card shows up in the debut software and displays what's on the camera, then yes

  • lol now its too late dude xD

  • will it work with the flip ultra video camera?

  • if it has an output to rca connectors that you can plug into the video capture device, then it should.

  • what's your digital camera model ?

  • Sony Cybershot DSC-W150

  • thanks

  • mine is not working.....i have the grabster av 400 from magix....i can see it on that software from magix but i can see it on youstream, neither i cant see it on "devut video capture" what can i do...is it becoz of the drivers??

  • if you can see it on the software from magix, just screen share the are of the magix software were you see the video

  • is it possible for MSN or Yahoo messenger

  • I have not tested it in either. I'm not sure, but if MSN or Yahoo has a screen share option, then it would work.

  • Could you post a link for where to buy the Roxio Video Capture USB?

  • I just added it to the description

  • thanks :)
