  • Yes, a number of state governments had state religions and tests for office. When the constitution was written, the First Amendment applied only to the federal government. This all changed after the Civil war with the 14th amendment which made it illegal for states to take away a right the federal government provides. The Supreme Court didn't just "decide" to "take away" your religion. The law was expanded in scope!

  • Depends on the reason why that person no longer 'practices' being homosexual. You see, race is something one cannot change. But sexual preferences change all the time. Let's consider why a homosexual doesn't 'practice' . It could be from an emotional turmoil from a break-up, guilt, fear, etc., but if that person still identifies as homosexual he/she would still be gay. A person can have gay sex one time and still not be gay. it's the preference. Is a non-practicing hetero still straight?

  • I totally agree with this video. I'm a lesbian, but I am a sinner. It is not a 'special-interest group', per se that the Constitution protects, it is the basic rights of individuals and homosexuality is not something a person is born with. It is a vice, or preference. So I agree with Reggie, homosexuality and race do not go under the same category. But gays should not be discriminated against or their basic rights taken away either. God hates the sin but loves the sinner.

  • Hmmm ... In you opinion is a non-practicing homosexual still a "gay person"?

  • 1. God doesn't exist, so don't expect your surrogate daddy to love you. Just love yourself.

2 The evil secular gov't writes laws making is illegal to discriminate against you

3 The same EVIL secular govt writes laws forbidding HATE speech, whereas the LOVING christians partake in HATE speech, therefore they are less loving than the evil secular govt....go figure.

  • anyones BS detector going off!!?? please???

  • I think it's shocking when you look at the interpretations people uses for the Constitution today and then look at the interpretation in practices the people who wrote and ratified the same Constitution demonstrated. There are so many different examples of utter contradiction it's so disheartening I can't believe we actually have a Constitution anymore. Irony being they used the same common law rule meant too preserve this law, to rewrite the same law utilizing selective propagation of error.

  • not christianity per see

    more like belief itself

other than in money, pleasure, war, fear etc.

    what a recipe for nihilism

  • the thing is, people came to America ( not only ) for religious freedom. i'm not just saying this for Christianity, but for any religion. but the thing is, if the government is trying to take Christ out of everything and is practically forcing everyone to stop Christianity and not letting people be Christians, isn't that a complete defiance of the Constitution?

  • When I hear this Christian nation bruhaha, I imagine myself being Geneva in the 16th century. Furthermore, I hear secular nation, I imagine Stalin's gulags and pogroms.

The question is this, when is the date of your supposed theocratic initiation?

  • Probably gradually over the next few thousand years -- as it has been since the beginning -- little by little.

I expect the PEOPLE to be reformed before the state can be reformed.

  • ahhh, showing your true colors.

Looks like you DO agree with Gary North!!

    Christian speak with forked tongue.

Everything you've professed to me is a lie.

Don't even bother responding to my comments...but as a "tolerant" christian you shouldn't censor them either.

  • I understand Reggie's distinction between homosexuality v. race re the behavior elements. However, on history & persecution he is dead wrong. As Reconstructionists who want capital crimes for homosexual acts, you guys should be the first to admit that homosexuals have suffered far worse than castration by law & society.

  • Does this guy or Reggie have any idea that Christianity has already been pushed ad nauseum on America? Show me ONE adult American who has never heard of Jesus Christ, and I'll give you five bucks. This is just overkill, and religious harassment, and no government body should ever entertain that nonsense.

  • So you think the government should ban Christianity?

  • jcr4runner-- Not at all. That would be swinging the pendulum wildly in the other direction. That's not a solution. Can Christians be moderate about promoting their religion? That's the big question. I think the quality of a religion is diminished to the exact degree that it cannot be fully realized by finding a god. The rest is up to Christians...

  • If we promote our beliefs, then people still choose what to believe. Civil Laws should never bind the conscience in terms of faith and practice.

Whether our civil laws should be based on a Chrsitian ethic is the issue.

  • jcr4runner - Certainly not. I don't know anyone who seriously wants to do that. Where did that come from??

  • i wasn't put here to judge. no matter who my god is.

  • We can judge other Christians but not those outside the Body of Christ.

  • A warning to the conspiracy nuts: Pull your collective heads out of the sand please and take some time to learn the basic tenents of the USA and Western civilization AND Judaism and Christianity before Hilliary Clinton and her crowd of socialists and Communists (and radical Islamists) turn off the lights for a VERY long time.

  • God does not love America. It is an inanimate concept, not created in God's image nor did He send His son to redeem America. Therefore, America is not an object of divine love, as human beings are.

  • The funny thing is... it's all people. And yet, you attempt to poison and destroy your own brothers with these simplistic and derrogatory versions of their identity.

  • While we nit & pick at intelectual/religious techicalities, the world is getting angrier more intolerant. And all have failed to deliver an argument that could ever justify the series of massacres (in whatever form) commited against fellow human beings. Fellow human beings. Like you. With the SAME RIGHT to exercise their power of CHOICE in life. So when did it become OK for humans to be playing god? It just feels like one massive ego demonstration, where people always take second place.

  • the founders wanted seperation!

  • US Constitution trumps state constitutions.

    Simple fact.

  • Hmmm... Have you ever read the 10th amendment? It says that state law is superior to federal law.

  • also cud u please adress my first issue

  • Some sins are worse than others. Murder is worse the adultery. Adultery and sodomy are worse than fornication.

    Fornication is worse than lust.

    Theft is worse than coveting.

    And so on.

On the scale of sin, homosexual behavior is considered a crime in the Old and New Testament Law of God, indeed a capital crime.

  • Homosexuality is a sin like any other. It is over popularised issue especially in American society. My opinion is homosexuality is a sin but so are alot of things, why is it that homosexuals are made out to be worse then any other sinner? jcr4runner non-Christian states DOES NOT mean it would be an anti-Christian state. That is like saying, that Canada as a non-Muslim state is an anti-Muslim state...well of course it's not, a completely invalid syllogism.

  • Here's an explanantion of what I mean. The Laws that govern a nation are either going to be Christian or anti-Christian -- biblical or anti-biblical.

Property rights are going to be protected -- or the state is going to be allowed to seize private property.

The right to life is going to be protected or we are going to have euthanasia or abortion on demand.

  • It's a valid syllogism.

Even secularists admit it. If we allow homosexual marriage with equal rights for same sex couples, then Christian businesses are going to have to offer benefits to employees in same sex civil unions. Ultimately, Christians will forced to support the law.

So there is no neutrality where law is concerned.

  • Not judging, as the Law already determines our guilt or innocence, but homosexuality, lesbianism, feminism, abortion, pornography, pedophilia, prostitution, adultery, atheism, religious intolerance, racism, taxation, fiat money, war, drugs, illegal immigration, multiculturalism, cultural and national disintegration, class and racial strife, outsourcing, economic and academic degradation, and political subversion, are planks of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to destroy all nations worldwide.

  • I liked where you were going with this until you brought in the Zionist conspiracy theory.

  • I see what is being driven at, somewhat, in that I am an atheist yet I see the formulation of a secular quasi-religion (which I call Atheism with a capital A). It simultaneously seeks to extend the State into every aspect of life AND trumpet the separation of Church and State.

  • You are correct. There is no neutrality. We are either going to have an anti-Christian state or a Christian state.

  • Stop nit picking the "old law" to suit your hate.

Besides if you can use the "old law" to condem homosexuals, I can use it to show how much your god commands people to go on killing sprees.

I wonder why on sundays they dont preach on the atrocities that god did to innocent women and children?

I have never read of any homosexuals burning people at the stake have you?

  • edmacdaddy, you have the wrong view of God. God is not good because He does what is good in your eyes - because He behaves within the bounds of your morality. Neither is God evil because he does not play by your rules. What God does IS good, because He is God. God pre-exists everything, this includes time, space and morality. Everything that exists (including morality) exists because God created it. Therefore, He, not you, defines right and wrong, good and evil.

  • Would you prefer the laws of the Roman Empire where rape and murder was often legal? Where did the reform of these laws come from -- the Bible of course. Every law is an attempt to legislate against sin. You are just saying you don't want anyone to legislate against YOUR sin.

  • hey guys i think what americans are trying to say is that we dont want religous zealots making or influencing public policy.saying a particular lifestyle is a sin is a attack.if we wanted our ploicy made from the bible we wouldnt have written a contitution and just used that.the founders knew the bible can be twisted for nefarious purposes thats why its not the law.

  • Are you not a religious zealot for your own religion, the religion of humanism? Your post makes it clear that you are and s such you want to make and influence public policy so that it matches your belief system. If you were not, you would not have even bothered posting your opinion! Also, your argument about the constitution vs the Bible is completely erroneous. Has not the constitution been "twisted for nefarious purposes?" In fact, it has been completely subverted!
