Heh. I would just sit in the zone and listen to this over and over thinking about the friends I made and how we all grew to know one another so well. Sitting there contemplating, about so many things.

I got extremely lucky one day. I ran my own LS, but I never refussky warped. I would walk through the zone and I can't explain how I felt this...but one day I just had an instinct the NM fungi was up. Checked him (first time ever checking) and I got the drop! Go go karma {/dance}!!!

I quit this game about 4 years ago

and recently started listening to the songs again.

makes me remember how much I loved this game.

since then I've played WoW, and some other old ones like PSO.

nothing beats FFXI, just how well the music alone goes with the zones

would be good enough to beat any game =)

@seanb7194 This is true, FFXI is a pretty unique gem. I haven't played world of warcraft but I know a few people who do and I watched videos of it on YT and it just doesn't look comparable. Well, at least not the old FFXI from a few years ago... the new one isn't the same as the one I have grown to love. With all the adjustments and changes to the game making it easier, and level sync having people always stay in Valkurm until level 75 it just wasn't that fun anymore.

I stopped playing FFXI In October after 7 years. This was my favorite zone since the first time I stepped foot in it. I look back at all the memories I had in this game, and when at work I see the FFXI Ultimate Edition box and a let out a small sigh, wanting to go back, but know I can't for my own good. Ahh I remember this lovely tune. When I was only a naive teen that took FFXI too seriously as it was my first mmo. Whenever FFXI drama got to me, I would come to the Santuary of Zi'Tah and let myself get lost. Such lovely memories. When FFXIV is released there wont be any drama and only time to reach the top!

can someone tell me the name of instrument in the very beginning, aside from the guitar? My guesses would be some form of flute. It doesn't sound like a classic flute, but some woodwindy thing. I love this as a guitar solo piece, but I have a friend with 11 years of flute, and it'd be nice to have him playing the wind instrument and myself on guitar for a full effect!

This zone... is heaven for me.

I was a BST, and I spent a lot of time there just playing solo. I have ever inch of that place mapped out in my head. I just recently came back to the game, now as a PUP, this was one of the first zones i visited, just to say, 'hello'.

You know the one sad thing about this zone, is that 99% of the time you are on a chocobo riding through it on the way to mostly sky or sometimes the boyahda tree, so you don't get to hear the music!

@thejonhendricks Late reply but, I would actually prefer this song to be in a place you would say "lower-traffic" because just by listening to the song it feels so calm and comforting. A place with not a lot of ppl suits this song 110%, specially how the 'sanctuary of zi'tah' looks like. Now I'm not a role-playing guy, but everytime I come to this place, it just makes me want to. I would just hang around the area, sitting down at the Outpost listening to the music and enjoy the scenery.

I sold my PC, so I really hope it is put on PS3 and PC only. 360 is a bit far behind at this point in longevity, which is what kinda soured FFXI's overall lasting since PS2 held it back.
