  • THis was only shown three times? I feel kind of privaliged to have actually seen it on TV now.

And just to let everyone know that, as a Christian, I laughed like a freakin' drain XD

  • The vicar who delivers THE line is my lecturer! He is without doubt, a legend!

  • @sparkstron73 or the church recognized it as a joke about how revising history is so common today, or they understood that the commercial is joking that Mr. Kipling should stick with making great pies because directing is obviously not his strong suit. Either way, it sounds like the church actually took the time to think about the meaning of the commercial and the legitimate things it was making fun of, where as the public just said "I see religious stuff and humor, bad! :o"

  • I remember this ad I think or maybe seen it on a banned show.

The best line the end one:)

surprised the church did'nt object probably did'nt watch it all to the end or missed the joke.

  • Haha the public can be the biggest bunch of pussies.

  • The vicar at the end is my college teacher lol

  • Banned??? Some people live life far too seriously.

  • lmao "its a girl!"

  • I know the people involved with this.

    And these are real facts.

    1. They nearly lost their jobs over it.

2 The script was approved by the Church of england.

    3. It's was only shown on TV 3 times.

    4. It was banned because of the last words, 'It's a Girl'

Church didn't mind this. Seems the public did.

  • Wow - this is very interesting. Usually its the other way round. Thanks for posting

  • Glad you all liked it. I am the man who says "look yonder star". Cheers. Ian

  • And I am the midwife.

  • My favourite bit is the "it's a girl" at the end.

  • genius, makes me want a lemon slice

  • can't understand why this was banned......

  • It was banned because the ad was seen to ridiculing a religious ceremony - Christmas. In the UK, the codes governing adverts and their content prohibits ads from showing anything which ridicules race, disability, sex and religion. I love this ad and Mr. Kipling cakes themselves

  • I never saw this advert, must have been banned quite quickly!

Bloody Christians, no sense of humour

(That was a joke by the way)

  • It can be amazing how quickly an ad can be banned. Sometimes one airing is enough for the ad to cause a whole heap of fuss.

  • I had forgotten just how funny this was the faces in the crowd are wonderful.
