The patriarchy serves a small number of men and a large number of women. Just because a society is still dominated and ruled by a small elite cadre of privaleged men does not mean it is for men as a group.

@luvkrafft Obviously she was simply trying to protect herself. As you may or may not know, feminists are highly allergic to that male-produced substance called 'reason' and sometimes 'logic'. Men have been known to ooze the stuff from special glands under their armpits. If you had exposed her to too much logic she might have gone into anaphylactic shock. Feminists also group the vast majority of men into the alpha category when the truth is that most men have less power than women do.

So what do the alphas do, give women more special privileges, laws, funding etc..which serves to marginalize any chance any betas (80% or so of men) from an equal playing field with women.. Another fact you might not have known is that Women make up the vast majority of consumer purchases and the TV watching audience. Which is why prime time network television consists of sitcoms about stupid men making mistakes and the beautiful intelligent women that love them anyway.

If you want to know how well guys that "fight patriarchy" are doing. Go look at Warren Ferrel. He's written several books and is probably the most famous MRA in the world.

Businesses are happy to exploit gender roles and socialization processes endemic in society to make profit. They aren't out to change anything or make the world a better place. They're around to make money. Just take a look at who's at the top, more often than not. Some make the very cogent argument that TV and advertisements actually serve to reinforce gender roles. I don't agree with patriarchy theory, but I do oppose the male obligation to protect and provide.

Men make up the vast majority of suicides, homeless and workplace deaths and die before women do. Not to mention the practice of conscription.
