According to an article on wikipedia about "Healthcare", Afghanistan and Iraq have universal healthcare that is funded by the U.S. Very ironic. I am an American who lives in Japan. In America I was under insurance from my company and it was good. In Japan the helth care for everyone is almost the same as my insurace in the US. The reality is in Japan you don't pay more in taxes for health care. You pay monthly just like you would for corp insurance in America. I pay about $70(8000 yen) a month. thats pretty cheap.

How can you be proud to be American when you wont even pay taxes to provide health care for your fellow citizens. We might pay high taxes, but the costs are still lower for the individual and economies of scale mean that the overall health for the nation is better. So better health care for less. Just to clarify someething, people in countries with universal health insurance might not pay for health care directly when they go visit a doctors or when they (finally) get their turn on the waiting lists for operations, but they certanly pay for it through their taxes, whose brackets are far higher than that of the U.S. So in the end YOU ARE paying for it. Until you have been to other countries you don't realise how crap the US medical service is (even with insurance).
For example:
Ireland without insurance. Broken hand = 45 euros up front. 3 hours total time.
USA with Insurance, broken elbow = 2 hours waiting to prove I had insurance, 5 hours waiting for doctor. $250 and numerous calls to billing companies to stop them double billing me.
South Korea no insurance mild food posioning, seen within 20 minutes, total time <1 hour. 30 euros.

i defend the U.S. system. healthcare is not free anywhere. Other countries charge high taxes and have rationing of healthcare. Why do canadian's travel to the U.S. for elective surgery. I had self employed insurance. (Ruptured Spleen)For five days hospital doctors kept me in the ICU and out of my mind on their high dollar dope until they had exhausted my coverage.
Two days later and still in a drug induced fog I realized I was at home and the staples had come out of the eight inch gash the gave me. I called my sister who told me it took them less than fifteen minutes to wheel me from the ICU to the discharge desk and out the door.

Many companies no longer offer health care benefits, while other companies simply close down in America and ship their work overseas. This has left a great majority of workers uninsured due to being out of a job. Most of these people were beneficial to their companies. Other people are self employed, which leaves then out of group insurance.

I am an American who lives in Japan. In America I was under insurance from my company and it was good. In Japan the helth care for everyone is almost the same as my insurace in the US. The reality is in Japan you don't pay more in taxes for health care. You pay monthly just like you would for corp insurance in America. I pay about $70(8000 yen) a month. thats pretty cheap.

We might pay high taxes, but the costs are still lower for the individual and economies of scale mean that the overall health for the nation is better. So better health care for less. Just to clarify someething, people in countries with universal health insurance might not pay for health care directly when they go visit a doctors or when they (finally) get their turn on the waiting lists for operations, but they certanly pay for it through their taxes, whose brackets are far higher than that of the U.S. So in the end YOU ARE paying for it. So Mr. Moore violated the Cuban trade embargo. Well you know I recently read Lee Iacocca's book "Where have all the leaders gone". In Mr. Iacocca he mentions his trip to Cuba his dinner with Castro and talks about Castro offering him some Cuban cigars. I love Lee Iacocca and have not heard his name mentioned regarding any trade embargo.

Whether u like M.Moore or not...u have to realize the POINT of the movie. Our healthcare industry is geared for PROFIT, not to give aid to the ill and injured. Otherwise, a cancer patient wouldn't be paying $200 for a medication that they can get outside of the USA for 10 CENTS and patients would not be turned away from clinics or hospitals because they do not have insurance.

Until you have been to other countries you don't realise how crap the US medical service is (even with insurance).
For example:
Ireland without insurance. Broken hand = 45 euros up front. 3 hours total time.
USA with Insurance, broken elbow = 2 hours waiting to prove I had insurance, 5 hours waiting for doctor. $250 and numerous calls to billing companies to stop them double billing me.
South Korea no insurance mild food posioning, seen within 20 minutes, total time <1 hour. 30 euros.

However you would need more funding for doctors to do this and this might envolve you paying more taxes and that is something you are allergic to I guess?

i defend the U.S. system. healthcare is not free anywhere. Other countries charge high taxes and have rationing of healthcare. Why do canadian's travel to the U.S. for elective surgery. Plus not haing health insurance, is different from not having access to healthcare. Most people in the u.s. with no insurance are young, healthy, single people.. Nothing is free - and someone has to pay for healthcare.

In Slovenia we don't have to pay for anything...only some dentist services and 20% of the price for unprescription medicaments and for the medicaments which arent on the health insurance list.....only 2% of the citizens dont have health insurance....even if they life is in risk they have operation for free...

A lot of people find it cheaper to go out of the country to get surgeries. India is growing a whole new industry off of Americans looking for health care. Many doctors want to be millionaires in America because they spent 8 years in college. I say we outsource their jobs.

redviper101, U.S. doctors are already having their jobs outsourced to India. If you have X-rays taken at a large hospital, then there's a good possibility that a doctor in India is going to examine those X-rays. Also, U.S. doctors pay ENORMOUS malpractice insurance fees, and they must pass that onto the consumers.

its the lawyers and insurance companies stoopid. insirancde companies now grip every aspect of usa life. required by law to pay pay pay. car insurance (state gov insider mafia), fl0od insurance (FEMA mafia), health insurance (lawyer mafia), work insurance for liability in case? (poor governance and corrupt courts with no brain). you can;t even drive down the street to grocery and work w/o paying the mob.
