On the other hand. Im curious as to why didn't the flight attendant tell the first guy what he told the second guy? It seems like the flight attendant was a bit vague. So uh, no wonder the first guy didn't get the bigger picture opposed to what the flight attendant told the second guy. Either way if the first guy was told the same thing the second guy was told AND thenn still refused to put to the parachute I would get it and think to myself fair enough.

I agree that evolution and the Bible are 100% incompatible- but there can be Christians who believe in theistic evolution. the combined doctrines that decide salvation are the belief that: All have sinned. Only the Lord Jesus could take the penalty for our sins! The Lord Jesus was and is fully God and fully man, that He came and died on the cross for our sins, and finally that He arose! There can only be one functional "parachute", and they all claim to be the one. @sikchild247 The difference between the two was that the first man got the surface message. His "parachute" - salvation - was just considered flight enhancement. He didn't get the whole story because he didn't catch it. Some people don't get the deeper meanings of salvation, as pointed out in this video. God gave salvation, but the reception isn't always clear. He needed that second man - who understood the parachute and was worried - to talk to him and help him realize the truth.
@sikchild247 Trouble is, even when people are given all the information, they think they can wait to put on the parachute until the last second. They think they can take it off and be comfortable until the moment they make the jump. But quite often, the jump comes before they know it, and they don't have time to put on the parachute.

Ok so Hell is the last line of defense god uses in order to convince people to have have a relationship with him, right? Like if Im talking to an unbeliever, and tell him "Get salvation because having a relationship with god" and the unbeliever doesn't want a relationship, I should then say "Well, you will be the fuel to the every burning fires of hell! Repent or burn!!". Thats how it works right?
@Landofjello not at all. We can't completely ignore the reality of hell. Without the existence of hell, our free will would not even exist. Free will exists only because we have the choice of eternity spent in the presence of the one who created us or eternity away from Him. If the unbeliever doesn't want a relationship with God, that is his or her choice, and if they are so stuck in their ways there's no convincing them. However I believe even the hardest heart can be softened.
It is only because of HIS Grace that we receive Salvation. We can't make ourselves righteous...but through HIM, through HIS Blood that was shed upon The Cross, we receive it. We receive His Love, we receive His Grace...and it is our choice whether we want to wear that 'parachute' that God gave us, or not. :)

@sikchild247 The difference between the two was that the first man got the surface message. His "parachute" - salvation - was just considered flight enhancement. He didn't get the whole story because he didn't catch it. Some people don't get the deeper meanings of salvation, as pointed out in this video. God gave salvation, but the reception isn't always clear. He needed that second man - who understood the parachute and was worried - to talk to him and help him realize the truth.

@sikchild247 Trouble is, even when people are given all the information, they think they can wait to put on the parachute until the last second. They think they can take it off and be comfortable until the moment they make the jump. But quite often, the jump comes before they know it, and they don't have time to put on the parachute.

@sikchild247 Because it's trying to show that the attitude that we have towards salvation (the parachute) needs to be on that it is there to save us rather then enhance our lives.

Ok so Hell is the last line of defense god uses in order to convince people to have have a relationship with him, right? Like if Im talking to an unbeliever, and tell him "Get salvation because having a relationship with god" and the unbeliever doesn't want a relationship, I should then say "Well, you will be the fuel to the every burning fires of hell! Repent or burn!!". Thats how it works right?

@Landofjello not at all. We can't completely ignore the reality of hell. Without the existence of hell, our free will would not even exist. Free will exists only because we have the choice of eternity spent in the presence of the one who created us or eternity away from Him. If the unbeliever doesn't want a relationship with God, that is his or her choice, and if they are so stuck in their ways there's no convincing them. However I believe even the hardest heart can be softened.

It is only because of HIS Grace that we receive Salvation. We can't make ourselves righteous...but through HIM, through HIS Blood that was shed upon The Cross, we receive it. We receive His Love, we receive His Grace...and it is our choice whether we want to wear that 'parachute' that God gave us, or not. :)
