Not sure if i missed some vids but have you gone over scales and how these shapes are built (vs just naming the tabs). I think having a better understanding of how they are shaped with notes will give a better understanding. I know that my knowledge of the fret board is what is holding me back atm.
good job on keeping your instruction moving at a decent pace, i.e., not too fast for beginners/intermediates, but not too slow for the more advanced. try (if u haven't already) to incorporate some ear-stretching, voice-leading, & encourage self-exploration. once a player realizes (for instance) that soloing is basically chords unfolded, so to speak, they're close to discovering that limiting yourself to basic maj/min chords creates solo-limiting boxes. just a thought. good job...
@triviumetallicaify That will be next. But they are basically all the same shapes. Drop the lowest not in the 6 note shape and you get a 5 note shape. Drop the lowest two notes and you get a 4 note shape. Drop the lowest 3 notes and you get a 3 note shape. Drop any more and you no longer have an arpeggio ;) \m/
@ShredGuitarAcademy Well said, makes perfect sense. Thank you! All i can do as of right now are the 3 and 4 string sweeps, this video however encouraged and inspired me to practice adding 5 and 6 onto my sweeps!
@mortu777 Two of them are stickers I got made up at a print shop. One I glued on, and the other was burnt into the guitar with a wood burning kit. \m/
@DavePerry2012 Well sort of. In a fantasy fictional sort of way in that I enjoy the dark aesthetic of the stories, demons, gods and devils etc. that people have invented through the ages. I mean I like Lord Of The Rings for example but I don't think historical. And Satan to me is pretty much just another cool evil fictional character like Darth Vader. I'm pretty much 100% a science and reason guy.
@ShredGuitarAcademy Ah, ok. I saw something on a poster behind you about witchcraft and I thought you might be kind of a Jimmy Page kind of guy (i.e. into Aleister Crowley and the like). :-)
@DavePerry2012 Ah yes. That's a poster from a favorite movie of mine. Witchcraft '70. It's an awesome 70's shock exploitation movie. I have another from the same film that I plan to get framed soon. But I definitely don't believe personally in the slightest in anything supernatural. I consider myself to be of a similar mindset to James Randi, Penn&Teller, Michael Shermer and other noted skeptics. It's just not in me to believe in anything unprovable. Hope the lessons are helpful.\m/
@ShredGuitarAcademy Ha, that's funny. Goes to show how appearances can be deceiving. :-)
Actually I have barely touched a guitar in five years, I'm only here because of your friend request, but thanks for offering. I'm sure others will learn a lot from you.
@ShredGuitarAcademy I have the same mindset as you. I love demonology for the stories, The way they came about. I don't believe they exist though. But I could see if people though you might be into witchcraft, With all the Baphomets on your guitars and arms. If your into science check out Thunderf00t if you haven't already. He likes to prove creationists wrong.
