@TheHouseofmicky hey thanks and yeah its simple, its just a rundown the A minor scale. So the chords are Am GM FM Em and sometimes instead of going to the Em chord I go to EM or GM. its all improv in the scale of A minor. so no sharps and flats. hope that helps!

This was very good. great technique. You really should consider making some key changes though, like others said.

I compose in the same sort of mood as you. mostly minor keys. Some suggestions for keys and key changes which I love are:

C minor, A # minor, F minor, g major.

C minor, A # minor, E # minor, B flat major.

those are pretty. well the first is not pretty haha, but the second is much like the mood of what you have going there.

excuse me, can you explain to me how you write songs? I have played the piano for years! I don't even know where to start when writing a song. I have no idea what to do or anything! I was also wondering how people remember so many songs. As I said, I have been playing the piano for a long time, and I can't even remember songs off the top of my head. When I memorize a piece for performance, I immediately forget it after I perform. : /

as far as composing goes this is my general process.

Initially decide what sort of emotion you are trying to convey or "what story your trying to tell" and that should give you an idea of what key your going to write in.

Then decide on a chord progression (for example a 1,4,5,5 or 1,6,4,7)

Play around with voicings and arpegiations and then decide on some themes.
