The lyrics in the uploader's box are the short version. Additional lyrics found in the long version are found below, including something I have found to be very true of bad actors, that universally they believe that everyone else also acts badly, or wants to and is too cowardly to:
"Everything's done under the sun / But you believe at heart everyone's a killer"
Who was born in a house full of pain Who was trained not to spit in the fan Who was told what to do by the man Who was broken by trained personnel Who was fitted with collar and chain Who was given a pat on the back Who was breaking away from the pack Who was only a stranger at home Who was ground down in the end Who was found dead on the phone Who was dragged down by the stone Who was dragged down by the stone
The production on this album leaves a lot to be desired. The instruments are all slightly in the wrong place in the mix. Guitars are too punchy and crisp, and not soft enough. Bass is kind of indistinct, drums are too far back in the mix. If it weren't for the mixing, this song would sound like something off Wish You Were Here.
@Polyfusia idiot was the first thing that came to mind when I read your comment. Then I thought about it for awhile and I decided that idiot was correct!
Well, xSuperHippo, we both know that one cannot exist without the other. . so therefore, the lyrics that Roger wrote shall blend perfectly with the music that David wrote.. It's a clash, but more of a "perfect contrast", and why they were so incredibly great together. But to answer your question, my favorite single part of this song is Dave's awesome solo, that is truly moving.
@rockistheway I suppose he had something of an excuse to be arrogant, though. I mean, after all, his guitar work and lyrics were beyond what many people could even aspire to.

Gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze

Deaf, dumb and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable, and no one has a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
Everything's done under the sun
But you believe at heart everyone's a killer

@Polyfusia Disappointed with the production? Do you have any idea how old this album is? lol They didn't have the technology we have now, obviously..

@Polyfusia Go rape your dog. You wouldn't know good music if they gave you new ears.

Fantastic song, album and band.
Could've done the cutoff better to end the clip. Too abrupt compared to the mellow flow of the music. :)

One of my favorite songs by Pink Floyd, and my favorite from Animals.
Question for you guys; do you like the parts that David wrote, or the parts that Roger wrote?

they did write the song together, no? so they both agreed on one another's lyrics & music. ithnk they both deserve the credit for the lyrics & melody
