  • 0-4:21 my face :0 in amazement

  • @canyoncowboys121 did you not like the last second?

  • @locoman5621 no cause it had to end

  • wish they still rocked this intro

  • Ant's go marching sound like it was written by Kalnoky.

  • does anyone have the notes to this? :(

  • @charlierose19922 for horns? horntabs . . net

  • @charlierose19922 play along to it and figure it out

  • This is my favorite band! I would LOVE to see them in concert someday, but with the luck I have they'll probably break up before I get to.

  • this is one hell of a great intro

  • "Johnny, I hardly knew ye" not "ants go marching" please haha.

  • @marktrenkle

Actually, it's called "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again."

If you're going correct people in a smart-ass fashion, be accurate at least.

    Streetlight pwns!

  • @elysium735

Actually it's called "Johnny I Hardly Knew You"

If you're going to correct people in a smart-ass fasion, be accurate at least

    :)

  • @SparkyMcSlyde actually "Johnny I Hardly Knew Yea", "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again" and "The Ants Go Marching" are different songs that share the same tune, "Johnny I Hardly Knew Yea" was just written earliest. either way you look at it you aren't right, but you aren't wrong.

  • @SparkyMcSlyde Correct by approximately 43 years. I thank you for the enlightenment.

  • the baritone player nailed the note at 0:32 :D

  • duh it his job lol

  • WHAT THERE'S A BARITONE? I think you mean bari-sax.

  • Comment removed

  • This is avant-skarde

  • go see and support them live next time theyre around. ull be blown away

  • What is the name of this band? They are awesome!

  • lmao, its in the title of the video lol And yes they are awesome

  • lawl. Streetlight Manifesto. It's in the title

  • and yes, they are the one and only band to ever play 4th Wave Ska, thus gaining the title of AWESOMEEST BAND ALIVE!

  • how dare any of you thumbs down this comment!

  • I am disgusted by your reverse psychology efforts, it made me give you a thumbs down anyway.

    Good work :P

  • Not true. Blue Meanies already coined the term "Post Wave". They were essentially the 4th wave. But Ska as a whole does not recognize a 4th wave.

  • streetlight manifesto, its in the title

  • its in the title

  • "freaking awesome" indeed. Thx for contributing a SLM video, there can never be enuf on youtube.

  • agreed

  • Bari's easily the best saxophone, you just have to have the lungs for it.

The low A at 2:33 is great- best note ever.

  • was at this show! Played with LTJ and RBF.

My first concert and it was simply amazing.

  • Anyone who was wondering the real name of the song - its When Johnny Comes Marching Home, The Ants go Marching is the much more reknown childrens version ;)

  • Hey I was at this show, this is the best intro ever.

  • jims hair looks like a mop! haha

  • word.

  • wow that trombone is amazing i play trombone cant wait till i can get the skillz that killz to play like that

  • LOL this is not a song from dropkick murphys, Dropkick did play a songs that look like that.

    this is an OLD partiotic song that was reccorded in 1898 and it was made during the Spanish-American War;

but there's a lot of band that takes this tune.

  • Yeah... seriously, haven't you ever heard of The Ants Go Marching In? Dropkick did not write it

  • ha ha, but jonny hardly knew ya is a great song tho.

  • did you even go to school? or at least have a childhood?

  • We drove 4 hours for their 40 minute gig (Enterrock, Belgium)

Felt like the foreplay you always wished for, but ended all over sudden.aiting for the full concert nearby.

    W

  • are there any good videos of this song where you can hear the saxes better?

  • It makes me feel good that even he messes up on the trumpet a few times

  • yea in the mid section

he must have a hard time keeping his lips together after shows

i play trumpet alot and i know that after i play a long time or i really blast it is really hard to even talk let alone keep playing

  • Yeah I know what you mean. Lead trumpet in a jazz band, 1st in a wind ensemble, playing in a ska band, my lips are always raw

  • gonna see them for the first time in London 4th of april =D

  • Ooh yeah!

That's tonight, and i'm fuckin psyched!

  • last night was fucking awesome!

  • the doorman was a cunt though, wouldn't let my mate's in the standing section and then wouldn't let me back in when i went looking for him!

    Wanker.

Although Streetlight are fucking amazing from the balcony...plus more room for skanking!

  • they are coming to athens-greece FTW MAN!!!

  • i was at the show

  • man those saxes..are amazing...what are their names?

  • Mike Brown-Baritone sax (big, low sound) Dan Ross-tenor and alto (mediium and small ones)

  • okay thanks....yeah i play all three saxes at my school so i know what they are and how the sound...:D

  • Goddamn you're lucky, I play tenor and alto but cannot afford a Bari at the moment...you're still at school? DOes the Bari not knock you out when you play it? Mike Brown (SM's Bari player) also plays Soprano which is kinda cool...

  • yeah....im just a freshmen in high school...haha...but when i first started the bari, it did kinda make me dizzy..but i play it in 4 bands...so ive gotten used to it...and ive played alto for one year...tenor for 3...and this is my first year with bari...and im better at tenor, but hey...haha...who cares....but im getting pretty good at bari...

  • Jim Conti on tenor and alto. Dan ross hasnt plat in a while. like 3 years

  • when did you take this video? i saw them there in April. it was fucking kickass!

  • 7-17-07 in allentown

  • i really underestimated streetlight fans

i went to their show a few months ago expecting some moshing but mostly skank pits but damn they were crazy

they all pushed up to the front (where i was) and after a few songs was covered in sweat (not my sweat)

my feet weren't touching the ground man

i almost passed out cause i couldn't breath

  • That's because Streetlight fans are the best. I know everyone says that about their favourite band, but every Streetlight fan knows every word to every song.

  • so true :)

  • It's true.

  • amen to that brother. even on and on and on!

  • Hell yeah, they absofuckinglutely rule seen them twice now and met them too! They are my Gods and I have to say they have the4 best horn section of any band ever.

  • @Ryot6 aww yeah:)

  • @Ryot6 haha true, and that's quite a feat in itself considering the speed and length of each song . Woo Streetlight!

  • @Ryot6 indeed that is true!

  • is there a skank pit at there concerts?

  • is there a tumor in your head?

  • you don't have to be a smart ass

  • i apalogize

  • there has been a skank pit at every ska show i ever went to including streetlight manifesto

i got hit in the face so many times

    its awesome

  • most definetly, there were sme insane ones at the one i went to

  • streetlight manifesto skank pits a crazy and basically you don't want to stop moving in them or stand near them cause you are going to get hit and its going to be very fast...

  • Is there anything cooler in the world than a slammin' horn section?

    I think not.

  • a slammin' rhythm section?

  • =P

    I'd call em' a tie.

Good thing Streetlight has them both, eh?

  • Technically, the rhythm is the more important one, but being a horn player, I will agree :-D

  • yea! i agree that a decent horn section is good too cause when u have a bad one they sound like my crappy school band :)

  • GENIUS.

    Hahahhaa.

I love the whole 'ants go marching in thing'.

    Streetlight fuckin' owns.

  • haha Epic intro

  • i was there, and it an awsome night,

for the record that place is the worst venue in the world,

  • that bari sax is EPIC, as it always is. Mike Brown is a god!

  • my opinion: they play riding the 4th wave as thier intro...thoughts?

  • maybe, like start with a dark stage for the whistle in the beginging, and then light it up once the drums come in, that would be sweet

  • Actually, TheGungslinga, It's When Johnny Comes Marching Home. Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye has a different pattern from this one. They're similar, but if you know the song they're different.

  • actually u are both right....its the same tune....they are both derived from the same thing

  • this isnt the ants go marching...its Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye...its an old Irish anti-war song

  • OMG. this is SUCH a cool intro. SO sihk. Sheesh, amazing.

  • fucking amazing :)

i love this band so much.

got to go see them in london, ont

    and met all of them

hands down, best night of my fucking life

  • anyone have somesort of mp3?

  • download real player and you can download the vdieo and then turn into a mp3. i do it alot

  • thats tight

  • i think its cooler when they play we will fall together as the intro, buts thats just IMO

  • jim conti is my sister's boyfriend! =]

  • stop showing off karen....and when do we get to chill backstage...lol

  • dude i don't even get to hang out backstage. what makes u think u can??

  • well u need to work on that...ok...i still have to meet mike soprano...and pete...lol...

  • haha, i met stewart before a show,he came over and talked to me because i was the only one that noticed the band members walking around the trailers, the other kids at the concert only knew who tomas was.

  • @missxloverly jim conti's the man

  • @missxloverly Yeah, i would too. The sax is great

  • wow sooooo sic

  • yes!

  • "When Johnny comes marching home again,

    Hurrah! Hurrah!

We'll give him a hearty welcome then

    Hurrah! Hurrah!

The men will cheer and the boys will shout

The ladies they will all turn out

    And we'll all feel gay,

When Johnny comes marching home. "

Hearing that intro live is nuts, Streelight and RBF twice in two years...looking forward for three

  • just throwing it out there.. technically this is when Johnny comes marching home again.. thats the original tune..

whatever you call it, this is the most badass intro they could've come up with. My favorite band :)

  • fuckin great video man. i had the great fortune to actually see the whole ants go marching in intro in nyc. they played with reel big fish and it was a fucking fantastic show. thanks for the vid.

  • Who cares where it came from? It's badass!

  • this show was amazing....drove four hours for it..... but they overbooked it which sucked...still amazing set

  • This is the greates ska band in all the land

  • Yo i was there great show less than jake was ok but rfb and sm were insane i no i spelled it wrong

  • Pretty much love 2:46. yep.

  • yea, breakdowns make their songs

  • I Was there! RBF, WBT, SM, SL, amazing show!

  • me too except you are thinking of the show november 25th '06. this clip was from july 17th '07 with rbf, ltj, and aaa.

  • ah.

  • lets all banally correct each other's assumptions as to an anonymous source's opinions of a simple song from an amazing band

  • Even better: Listen to the song, and don't give a fuck about what other people say...especially on a video website. Cuz lemme tell you guys, you sound so strong and scary over the internet.

  • It's not a part of the William Tell Overture. It's an old American Civil War song called "When Jonny Comes Marching Home". I saw them play it in Detroit with my best friend who just got home from Afganistan, so it meant a lot to me.

  • bullshit

  • william tell overture

not the ants go marching in

    they did it in detroit

    i cried

  • Uh, what?

This is definitely not William Tell Overture...

  • It is. It's part of the William Tell Overature. But everyone knows it as Ants Go Marching because they took the tune for that.

  • this is not a part of the William Tell Overture. Check your sources again, buddy. Never once does any tune even resembling that intro appear in the WTO.

  • I listened to it in my music class in school and everyone was like "Ants go marching!" I think it's quietly in the intro though, and you usually only hear the part that sounds like a horse race.

  • no. I've listened to the entire William Tell Overture...the "Ants Go Marching" tune is NOT in it.

"Ants Go Marching" came from "When Johnny Comes Marching Home", the civil war song, and that possibly came from an old Irish song.

  • I just listened to "When Johnny Comes Marching Home". Touche. =P Sorry 'bout all that.

  • stop dancing with the camera!!!!! Haha

  • amazing the best ska band ever

  • Great concert. I saw them on the 4 of July in Milwaukee with RBF and LTJ. Streetlight definitely was the best.

  • yea, i was at this show..i was only there for streetlight and they were WELL worth we 25 bucks.

  • saw em in dallas, tx. had never heard of em before...now i cant put the CD away

  • This is the greatest live band ever! I hope they tour everywhere when they headline.

  • i saw them in buffalo and i am going to see them again in 2 weeks in rochester. i can't wait

  • ahhhh they did the same thing at starland ballroom this was so amazing. i fucking love streetlight

  • Dude I saw them last night and when the intro to Everything went Numb started, everyone went nuts. That was an awesome show.

  • I was there too...hot as balls inside. Wheres the Point/Counterpoint?!?

  • Dude saw this live <3

  • these guys are absolute gods. they most heavily influence the ska band i'm in right now. we worship them.

  • I had never heard of streetlight manifesto before and i saw them at the Avalon in Boston with Reel Big Fish. I have to say this is one of the best openings I've heard.

  • This is is so badass, Digging the Intro
