The Album was not ahead of it's time. The song is reminiscent of Hendrix and progressive rock of the early 70's. Check out Hendrix-EZ Rider or Room Full of Mirrors for example.

The Scary Monsters album was prescient, back when it came out and the song "It's No Game" anticipated the assasination of of John Lennon. We rocked the Shit out of that album back in the day and it stands the test of time.

I always think he wrote the whole Scary Monstersv- album 16 years too early. The feeling in the album fits much better whith his style in 96 than it did in 1980. It's a really good album, one of my absolute top five.
