@AWSBASS I dont think it gets any better! And the guitar player switches to slide at the end and does a great job. He's standing in the shoes of Sonny Landreth, so thats saying somthing!!
I saw John a few years ago in Cleveland and I could listen to his twang for hours. He is a mater songwriter who doesn't get the recognition that he deserves.
hey wavy gravy...i cant rmember what i posted, but i appreciate your reply. all in all i just like john hiatts music. i catch him live when possible, and his music brings back memories of a certain, sunny, simple period of my life. so, i enjoy him , and apologize for any negativity toward wavy gravy. i think all music can resonate with all people at the right time. groove on and enjoy. peace-out .....dj
Not hardly, it's called an opinion,"djbensyl". Sorry you're not mature enough to deal with it and just dismiss someone as "full of it" when they don't agree with your opinion.

Man, this guy can't sing worth a hoot! No offense to his fan base but he really can't in my opinion. He is however a phenomenal songwriter though, I'll give him that much. You know he kind of reminds me of Lucinda Williams, Tom Waits, Nanci Griffith, John Prine, Warren Zevon and yes, even Bob Dylan in that all of them have what are mediocre singing voices at best, but they sure can write some amazing and memorable songs!
Who's in the band? Sonny Landreth on Guitar, and possibly Keltner on drums? but Who's the bass-player? It looks a bit like Marcus Miller. Can't figure out the piano and singer.
Apparently Night Music had a house band, and marcus Miller was the musical director and in the band. So that is him. The drummer is not Jim Keltner...Night Music house drummer was Omar Hakim, so I'm guessing it's him. I thought the singer looked like Tracy Nelson, and from the little you can hear it sounds like her. Sure enough, according to wikipedia's Night Music entry, she guested on the same show as John Hiatt. good stuff! Saw John earlier this year and he's still got it-Big Time!
@Hornadayfan He isn't little own in the music industry. John Hiatt is highly respected. He just isn't on the radio. There are a lot of artists like him out there. The hard part is finding them.
one of the best songs

What a fantastic clip. The greatest songwriter ever, with one of his best songs, and the great Marcus Miller on bass! Does it get any better?

I have been enamored with John's music since hearing Perfectly Good Guitar. I rank him up there with the great songwriters to come out of the USA.

Dylan has even covered Buffett so, he is not as selective as one may think.
