This is what the car is, it is a 924 with the 924 GT flares (944 flares are way different from the 924 flares) The engine is a chevy ls1 wich weighs the same as the stock 924 engine. This is a common swap and is now overly expencive. The engine is not a 928 engine cuz a 928 engine is to wide to ever fit in a 924.

The water colled front engine porsches are my favourite and they are what i drive, and build. So you can be assured that this is a 924 with a Ls1 intalled.

i know for sure it is a 924 you can tell by the wheels!! they are a 4 bolt pattern.

i would know i have a 81 924 and that is how they made them.

mine has a wider body and it runs w/ double dellorto carbs!!!

@petr459 The 924 transaxle is much weaker than the 944. The 924 turbo used the G30 transmission, that is also weaker.

That is a pre 85 944. It is the square dash model. You can tell that its a 944 by the boxed fender. Also its a base model as it lacks the mounting points for the rear apron that goes under the rear bumper. Lots of base model 944s make it to V8 status because they are cheap and the platform takes the powerplant pretty easily. Lets hope he upgraded to S2 or Turbo hardware for his suspension though.

yeah I have a 944 turbo you can check my videos bud. It's the exact same car body wise besides the fender flares and other aerodynamic pieces being changed out.

This car obviously has a lot of body work done to it along with the motor transplant. This car has 4 lug wheels, also. It could be a 944, but it could also be a 924. By the way I do know the difference since your mom's a bitch (dog) and your dads a pussy (cat)! wah lah!

@gtiiiiiiii I think it's a 944 1983, based on still stock rear bumper, stock doors, and flared weel arches, but could off course be a 924 chassis with 944 body...

@Laurents9240 its a 924 with 944 guards. the owner/builder is on 924board.org. with LS# and LT# v8 swaps, the difference in weight is negligible compared to a 944S2, 944 turbo or 968 engine. i.e handling isn't effected.

Damn I wanted to do this to my 84 944 so badly when I had it. This is what the 944 should have been! I've yet to drive another car that felt like the 44 in cornering. Anyway for the record yes that's a 944 it's just had it's foam spoiler removed.

those engines aren't stock, the 944 comes stock with a inline 4 cylinder engine, the v8 in this 944 was most likely not a porsache engine. they arent big on the bigger sized engines unless its a 911 or carrera gt

Heck, the 924, 924S, 944/S/S2/Turbo, and 968 all use slant-4s. V8 really isn't much more than a pair of slant-4s with a common block and crank! The engine bays fit small Chevys, LSXs, and Rover V8s quite nicely.

This car is NOT a 944. It is infact a 924 with the 924 Carrera GT rear Fender flairs. It has the 4 lug bolt pattern that EVEN came with the 924. Their is also no fender flair on the front fenders & no rear spoiler.

cool, I've got a yellow 944 witch I just killed the engine in a proper way. I was thinking about a v8 lump or a 1JZ which I have . What engine have you in there and did you get a custom bell housing or put in a trans and diff in with the engine?
