  • he did write it for Elvis.

  • So good!

  • I looked up rockabilly kewl on Wikipeedia and there was a picture of Link Wray!

Rumble is the soundtrack of my life.

  • Damn ...this was just yesterday for me...over 30 years ago...

One night Robert played the Stone Pony and Bruce sang this with him...

    Ah...the good ol' days...

  • The bassist looks like John Paris.

  • Yes, I wasn't quite sure who did what :)

When I saw this show on TV way back when, I was blown away!

Been one of my fav songs for many years. IMHO, The Pointer Sisters trashed it, but... for some reason that is the version most people have heard.

  • I'll never understand why Robert's version with Link never took off.Link did play great guitar on this and the Pointer sisters only sang.

  • The word is that Springsteen wrote it for Elvis Presley, but he died before he could even hear it. So he gave it to Robert Gordon.

And the guitar player... Link Wray started a whole new industry by cutting wholes in his speaker elements to create that "fuzzy" sound. Since many players did NOT want to do that... the fuzz box was invented!

  • Thanks for sharing that info. Link actually used a pencil to poke holes in his speaker cone to get that fuzz sound. Dave Davies slashed his speakers to get that fuzz sound on "You Really Got Me.

  • @roxville Yeah, Springsteen gave a tape to Elvis six weeks before he died!

  • Awesome!!!!
