@dthedark this weapons think are better to be mounted on vehicles or to be on the ground on a post or something to be carried around i don't think so the lightest version is 25 kg and the heaviest is 80 kg .... it not practical at all ..

Sorry A10 lacks behind Su-25, the only better thing on it it can carry more ordinance only 1tone more.C-130 is huge slow plane only fitted with canons,the only thing that prevents its survivability are Flares nothing else any Attack Helicopter have better weaponary variation, weapon power and much more survivability.And the M1 is the biggest failed MBT in our history, it dies before it reaches the battlefield.Gasturbine failure.

Add that to the 50 something pounds of the infantry portable model, and the spare ammo the soldier will need to carry, not to mention his other gear, just how do you expect the guy be able to go anywhere? Do you know how much 7.62x51mm NATO rounds could be carried along with a M240 as an equivalent to that weight? Or perhaps 5.56x45 for a M249?

Sorry A10 lacks behind Su-25, the only better thing on it it can carry more ordinance only 1tone more.C-130 is huge slow plane only fitted with canons,the only thing that prevents its survivability are Flares nothing else any Attack Helicopter have better weaponary variation, weapon power and much more survivability.And the M1 is the biggest failed MBT in our history, it dies before it reaches the battlefield.Gasturbine failure.

You cant beat guerilla warfare unless you go guerilla yourself, but regular armies aren't trained for that. A10 sucks. AC-130 is too slow and can't deploy flares fast enough to dodge a pair of SU-35s. M1 sucks; you can make two T-90s out of the cost of a single M1.

@DinoPal American troops are mechanized and integrated with vehicles so have a infantry portable weapon of that caliber is redundant, not to mention having to carry less ammunition but more weight. Not having Russian troops station in Chechnya doesn't equate to it being safer. The fact that the Russian government censors info coming from the region tells me that they have something to hide. I don't deny that the US isn't doing well, but to say that the war is complete failure isn't fair.

@DinoPal I don't know how far Russian troops wonder away from their vehicle, or if they even have vehicles to disembark from,but US troops are always near their Humvees, Strykers or whatever vehicle they are assigned.Heavy weapons are usually mounted on vehicles because the distance between them and the troops are always within reach of the weapons.US infantry emphasizes mobility,so the heaviest infantry weapon is probably the M240.For example,50 12.7x108mm = 150 7.62x51.Greater volume of fire.

Add that to the 50 something pounds of the infantry portable model, and the spare ammo the soldier will need to carry, not to mention his other gear, just how do you expect the guy be able to go anywhere? Do you know how much 7.62x51mm NATO rounds could be carried along with a M240 as an equivalent to that weight? Or perhaps 5.56x45 for a M249?
