This is Glastobury 1995 not 1994 iv got the bootleg of this gig and just before the start of 'the rolling people' nick mccabes amp fucked up so for like a minute and a half its just pete and si playing 'the rolling people' until nick's amp gets fixed and they start the song from scratch. I heard this slide away live version before I heard the album version and its what got me into the band, superb performance

Shame glastonbury isnt like this nowadays: decent weather, no flags being waved about, decent bands, no chavs, all around better than the over commercialised shit they show these days on the BBC. However the Verve's comeback this year was electric, but thats been the best thing at glastonbury in about 10 years.

i agree ashcroft is an amzin frontman and a great lyricist but i think nick mcabe was the real genius behind the verve .the first album is well known to be "his" album also simon jones is heavily overlooked. hes as vital 4 the verves sound as mcabe or ashcroft. hes my favourite bassist out there. hes almost like a 2nd guitarist.his playin is so intricate and creative hes also a genius

this is one of my favourite tunes. i also like "she's a superstar", at least the intro/beginning of it. but im a bit disappointed because the rest of the song has too much psychadelic and rough sound, and it could have been made better. i also think this is the case for almost every song on "a storm in heaven", i like the versions of blue and slide away on the singles album better, as the sound is cleaner.
