This is Glastobury 1995 not 1994 iv got the bootleg of this gig and just before the start of 'the rolling people' nick mccabes amp fucked up so for like a minute and a half its just pete and si playing 'the rolling people' until nick's amp gets fixed and they start the song from scratch. I heard this slide away live version before I heard the album version and its what got me into the band, superb performance
No idea why, theres probably only one but this is some vid. I like richards lyric change in 'let the daylight cool your foolish pride' with reference to the sunny weather.
Shame glastonbury isnt like this nowadays: decent weather, no flags being waved about, decent bands, no chavs, all around better than the over commercialised shit they show these days on the BBC. However the Verve's comeback this year was electric, but thats been the best thing at glastonbury in about 10 years.
i agree ashcroft is an amzin frontman and a great lyricist but i think nick mcabe was the real genius behind the verve .the first album is well known to be "his" album also simon jones is heavily overlooked. hes as vital 4 the verves sound as mcabe or ashcroft. hes my favourite bassist out there. hes almost like a 2nd guitarist.his playin is so intricate and creative hes also a genius
Saw these in Manchester at Christmas & seeing these at Glasto in a couple of weeks, cannot wait. No one makes music like this any more, this tingles my spines and has such a trippy sound to it ..... amazing vocals too!
Waited more than 10 years to see them perform...and now the time has come: I'll see them in 2 weeks in Nova Rock Festival.
The Verve is absolutely the best alternative UK act from the 90's...thank God they're back again together with Rage Against The Machine, this fucked up world needed them so much!!!
They are just soooo good. They were aspiring to be the best rock band in the world...i wish they would make amends and work together again. I miss seeing them. It was incredible.
this is one of my favourite tunes. i also like "she's a superstar", at least the intro/beginning of it. but im a bit disappointed because the rest of the song has too much psychadelic and rough sound, and it could have been made better. i also think this is the case for almost every song on "a storm in heaven", i like the versions of blue and slide away on the singles album better, as the sound is cleaner.
I don't know why this is my favorite band. Ashcroft doesn't have an "amazing voice," but for some reason I love his voice and none of these songs would be the same without him singing.
YES CANT WAIT FOR THE NEW MATERIAL, this is a song!!!, Urban Hymes was good, but there first two albums are so much betterand rewarding to listen to, especially thier debut 'A Storm In Heaven', which is my personal favorite.
this is absolutely imense man
