  • Looks nice. Starting a new build this week, and thinking of giving this one a go. After years spent managing a "rolling release" distro, with all the attendant pitfalls, this one should be a breeze! ..RAM issues? n.p. ...the stuff is so cheap, I'll just go with the 4GB instead of 2. My gaming rig runs Winbloze...I could tell you stories about memory usage that would have you in tears.

  • I put a good use to the recovery drive made when you buy a pre build computer 11GB for Pinguy OS the rest for Windows :)

  • i am installing this on My Machine right now. to Me it Looks like a Mac OS X wanna be. don't get Me wrong. i LIke it. i have always been a fan of ubuntu and This distro is basically ubuntu set up almost the same way i set up My ubuntu After install. So i Like it. But they guy who made it Has Mac envy i think. :-)

  • Pinguy OS sucks in 64 Bit is a memory hug

  • after i download imgburn wat do i do next can u please give me the full directions

  • another mac :( remix...

  • You really should try it. It's more than just eye-candy. it's actually faster than the standard Ubuntu. He's tweaked it somehow.

  • I understand people put effort into this, but really, the creators decided to call this "pinguy" ??? Really? I guess they don't want a large usage following with that name. Honestly, I don't see any advantage to this other than wanting a distro with the basic eye-candy set-up on jump start. Definitely not for old machines using Linux OS. Maybe computer 5 years or younger if that's your cup of tea. I personally never understood the need or appeal of Conky.

  • This is version 10.04 not the new one 10.04.1.1

  • kool remastered !!

elementary theme ,Conky ,Docky,gloobus-preview KOOL STAFF !!

  • man, it's so obvious that Conky slows down your computer a lot. Why use an eye candy anyway?

  • @chenxubin It's running in VirtualBox. Conky uses under 1% of RAM and CPU

  • @nilarimogard What is that thing on the right. It looks pretty damn cool. Is it a screenlet?

  • @nilarimogard What is that thing on the right. It looks pretty damn cool. Is it a screenlet? Also, is AWN standard on Pinguy (just curious)?

  • @t2491tom The thing on the right is Conky. Penguy do not use AWN for the docks, but Docky instead. I am giving this distro a go these days, so far its nice!

  • @chenxubin Agree with you 100% man, I hate all the useless resource hogging kde shit, same for windows 7.

Just want a text input.. maybe gnome.

  • @Septagotius conky uses less than 2% resources. gnome system monitor on a good day uses 5% and can use up to 60% when its cranky(google forums for horror stories on its system hogging) yes people get crazy with the customization(i really don't need my kernel version displayed) however it is a great system monitor that uses so little resources that you can go hogwild and not feel a performance hit.
