Old dude - can you please start adding location info to videos like this? Maybe google earth link? It'd be great to go to that old antique store, some of the smaller places you visit, etc. I know you and some of the places want privacy, but plenty of others (it would seem) would be ok. Thanks!
Count me in! Lighthouses are so atmospheric, full of character. They have the same effect on me as steam-trains (except one moves, on stands still....) ^_^
90 year old lighthouse. Looks like they just put it up a few years ago! And it's ACTIVE! Only in Japan! In the US they would have turned it off and torn it down years ago.
@jfan4reva Actually, there are a lot of old lighthouses in the US. Some active, others restored as museums, etc. In general, old buildings are more likely to be torn down, rather than preserved, in Japan than in the US.
My Mom and I went on a trip to North Carolina in the late 90's to the outer banks to see all the lighthouses they have there. I don't know where she got fascinated with them, as we live in farm country Ohio. But it was a nice trip.
1921. Active; focal plane 20 m (66 ft); white light, 3 s on, 3 s off. 18 m (59 ft) round concrete tower with lantern and gallery. Entire lighthouse is white. This lighthouse stands on a headland on the east side of Ise Bay, guiding ships northward from the bay's entrance. It is easily the best known and most visited lighthouse of Aichi Prefecture. Located about 15 km (9 mi) south of Tokoname; accessible by road. ARLHS JPN-428; JP-2632; Admiralty M6144; NGA 6108.

@TheJapanChannelDcom Western design, built during or shortly after the American occupation. Maybe 1945-1960 or so. Could probably tell you more if I knew what prefecture/town this was in. Cool video regardless, thanks for sharing :)
Funny, it doesn't look Japanese at all. Makes you wonder if it wasn't an imported idea. Especially when you consider that during the Tokogawa Era it was a capital crime to leave Japan and then come back.
I think it'd be cool to live in a retired lighthouse, hopefully one bigger this this one appears to be. I also just watched The Fog on TV the other night, one of the main characters had a radio studio in a lighthouse. lol
A mysterious door half way up the lighthouse... very ocarina of time!

this lighthouse reminds me of "sleeping beauty". I feel like the princess is sleeping at the top of the lighthouse.

When you're close to tears remember
Some day it'll all be over
One day we're gonna get so high
And though it's darker than December
What's ahead is a different colour
One day we're gonna get so high
'Cause we are gonna be forever you and me
You will always keep me flying high in the sky of love
