I was there. We drove up from Stuttgart and camped out the night before. It was Twisted Sister, Saxon, Motorhead, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, Meatloaf and Whitesnake. Ozzy was supposed to headline and canceled last minute. It was a great day and concert!
@dinno459 Do you have any shots of a circle of men with a pregnant women in the middle - walking her through the crowds to the front of the stage to see Meatloaf? :) That would have been me!! lol I was 9 months pregnant and couldn't miss seeing Meatloaf, no matter what!! Plus the Hospital was just 2 KM away at Landstuhl. ....which is where I gave birth just 5 days after the concert, lol.
@Stormoftranquility Gosh I need to read these more often I just now read your note. I will check my pics and look for you (or the croud). lol. thats is so cool. It was so long ago. gosh I feel OLD. but this was such a good time. I should probably put some kind of video montage with all the pics.
I was there too! I was ten Fking feet from the stage off to the left I love Lizzy and drove all over Germany to see them, I did not know until today that that was the last show. I was piss that ozzy didn't show I was stationed at Erlangen at the time
I was at the Monsters of Rock Concert in Nuremberg as well!!! What a great fucking concert. It was a day well spent with my friends from Heilbronn West Germany. I was stationed in Heilbronn from 1983 to 1985. Also saw the Scorpions a year later with Joan Jett in Stuttgart, but this was by far the best concert I have ever attended.
Do you have just the Thin Lizzy performance or the whole event? Because Dee Snider's opening line to the day was hilarious! "Fuck the rain! Let it rain on Duran Duran!" (Twisted Sister opened.) And the the jam during Meatloaf''s set with Brian Robertson of Motorhead (ex Thin Lizzy_ setting fire to his guitar was a gas...
Just Lizzy's performance, although I'm sure many, if not all the others, circulate as well. I just don't collect much else besides Lizzy, Sabbath, and a few other things that strike my fancy.
I was at this show. More like Woodstock or Cal Jam. Lots of VW (smoking) buses and more beer than you could handle. Motorhead, Saxon, JP and I forget who else.
I was at the show in Kaiserslautern a couple says before this show... Twisted Sister, Saxon, Motorhead, Blue Oyster Cult, Meatloaf, Thin Lizzy, and Whitesnake IIRC- not sure on the order though.... (Ozzy was supposed to be there but one of his kids- Aimee was born on 2 September)
Kaiserslautern was the day before ;). That's a good show too. Got that one on cd-r as well. Didn't know that Ozzy was supposed to be there...thanks for that info. Thin Lizzy and Ozzy Osbourne...now that would of been something...
haha thanks for putting me right! the videos your posting are great btw , i have wasted many hours watching them. actually 'wasted' is the wrong worD!
never really bin a fan of this track it sounds a bit like phil wanted to be like motorhead. still it sounds like a storming show.. i hears that the band were joined by a few guests at this gig.. robbo, eric bell, does anybody know if this is true?
Not at this gig, but Brian Robertson was there because Motörhead was on the same bill. There's even a picture of Robertson off stage watching in the background with Lynott in the foreground singing.
The gig with Eric Bell, Gary Moore, and Robertson was the show at Hammersmith Odeon on 12 Mar 1983.
Yeah. I have a couple other pictures from their last show that I've thrown on other audios. I think I put them all on the "The Sun Goes Down 12"" audio that I posted a few days ago, as well as those pictures I got from lynottfan4 from the Grand Slam gig. I'm always looking for good pictures that haven't been commonly used.
rocked out there to best concerts was while i was stationed in germany.just wish video was around then

Was only 15 years old and had a blast.

Whitesnake. These gigs are the reason Sykes ended up playing with them after Thin Lizzy split.
