This scene would have been perfect if they would have put something over her feet. Idk, something about seeing the bottoms of her bare feet just isn't heavenly :(
Anyone else notice how similar some parts are to the soundtrack in the movie "A Beautiful Mind"? Which was composed by james Horner. I'm saying i really like it because A Beautiful Mind has one of the best soundtracks I ever heard.
@flighty1996 Because at one point he was young, thin, attractive and very popular King actually. It's only in later life that we gain the stereotype image of the obese tyrant.
@flighty1996 It's not really Hollywood is it? And anyway, I've spent many years studying Tudors times so I don't really need to get my knowledge off of a television series nor let it bother me. None of the actors in this look like the people they are portraying. His wives were all plain looking with some being quite ugly. Whether or not he was a bad King is debatable. He laid the foundations for England to rise up and forge a powerful future without Papal interference and control.
well to be honest nobody knows what him or his wives look like as there were no photos and paintings were bias. What we do know is that he was the fat ugly king. The Papal forces would not have full control, look at France that was successfull. He's genrally accepted here in England as a bad King
@flighty1996 No, we know he was a thin, handsome, athletic King who later became fat due to injuries to his leg leaving him barely mobile, and also severe head trauma which possibly gave him brain damage and could explain his personality change. The paintings were biased in a way to make the wives look better, which looking at them doesn't say much for the women themselves. Although perception of what beauty is was different in Tudor times. And generally, people are stupid here in England.
ok i can tell that you know little about History, i must say. Firstly every king was made out to be like that, so if you believe that he was thin and only became fat because of an injury, you are most wrong. He ate, slept and had sex. For the times the womens paintings were beautiful. Yes they are stupid.
@flighty1996 I know a fair bit about history thankyou very much. And Henry enjoyed a very athletic youth. One must only look at his suits of armour from his youth to his later age to see his expanse and weight gain. If you don't know this, then I'd say it's you that hasn't a clue.
Dumpstermuffin1....Henry lost his moral fiber to marry Anne, he did it for one reason to benefit himself. He murdered Christians to satisfy his lust for power. The church of England is his legacy and it has no moral power to this day. this day
TheSweden000.. Women were playing things, used by Henry and their families. He knew full well Anne was to marry Percy, Henry knew this. Women had no value to him, he was a monster.
@Jackiezyon Yes. But a monster who was capable to feel passionated love and fiery hate. He could be a monster, full of hatred. And hatred is a very strong feeling.
@Jackiezyon A monster who liberated all of Britain from the Oligrachy of the catholic church. Sure he ruled with an iron fist but in the end it paid off as Britain had more liberties and his daughter Elizabeth ended up creating a massive empire. He was probably one of the better british monarchs, almost as great as richard the lionheart and Edward the confessor
@Jackiezyon You're talking of Henry like he was a man without feelings. That is not true. Yes, he was cruel, yes, he was unfair, but he had feelings. It was feelings that made him want to marry/execute/divorce his queens. You say the only thing he was thinking of was to have a son. Yes, that was a major part, but not the only part. He loved all of his wives, except maybe Anne of Cleves. And most of his wives, he came to hate. Henry hated fiercely, and he loved fiercely. Is that not feelings?
@TheSweden000 I fully agree with you. I understand his desire a son. This desire was reason the downfall of some his wives. But he believed that if he haven't a son his dinasty would end in failure and he couldn't permit it. Definitely Henry had feelings like other people but he was victim of his status and couldn't show it.
I think Jane was Henry's light and love, and he never recovered after losing her. I don't know if it was real love he felt for the three last wives. I don't think so.
@TheSweden000 I personally cannot see Henry waiting 7 years for Jane, like he did with Anne. I believe Jane was just in the right place at the right time. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I am just sharing mine.
@roxylulu1 I believe anne was in the right place at the right time too. i think henry would have waited that long for any woman if it was to get out of his first marriage.. he wanted and needed a son. and he knew he wasn't getting anywhere with catherine.
@roxylulu1 Do you mean that he waited 7 years to have sex with Anne? That says something else to me. To me it says that he was so desperate about having sex with her that he was ready to do whatever it would take. And to me, that's not a good thing. To me, it just means that he was horny. A major part of Anne's and Henry's marriage was sexual desire and lust. Henry's and Jane's marriage was to me just pure love. I don't want to offend anyone, it's just what I think.
this piece is so pure... I love how it tells of Henry's loss. it's true one actually feels with him though he does not deserve it...
I feel like this song embodies everything Jane Seymour symbolized to Henry, kindness, hope, a refuge from a mad world. And when she die, she took everything.
There are no words to express how beautiful this piece is. The diminished seventh chords and excessive use of dissonance really express this piece in ways that words cannot!
"it's a howling wilderness without you!"...moarning for a beloved one,...-don't we all know what that feels like!?-this was one of my favourite parts of the tudors-series!-and it was as well one of the few moments within my feelings of sympathy and compassion for the reckless king henry!...
Trevor Morris paints SUCH a beautiful painting with his music. Literally. His hands are the brush and the strings, percussion, brass, etc. are the colors which he uses. I don't know much about the show itself, but just reading the title and hearing the music has told me SO much about Henry and Jane's relationship. I can feel the pain and the loss in the song and I think that's a very rare quality few composers have. To paint a picture like Trevor does. Bravo my friend.
I just heard this today... It has become my most beloved scene and song in the show "The Tudors". I cried along with Henry. It was that moving, that sad, and yet so beautiful, so true. The love those two had...was truly a blessing and it was so sad to see it go--to see Henry's "light in his dark, dark world" go. =(
@meginmd So true. And because Jane was the picture of submissive. She advocated against women's education, arguing that women have little need to read or write and should instead stick to traditional tasks like sewing. Some historians have said (I think Starkey, if memory serves) that she could barely write her name. Team Anne.
I agree. Trevor Morris's music is wonderful throughout the entire TV series, but this beautiful theme has a certain resemblance to "A Beautiful Mind" by composer James Horner, and perhaps religious echoes the music of Hovhaness. Greetings from Spain. An excellent series, and a great actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers ... :-)
You are so right omg! I just listened to it and it's very very similar....................however this one i think is more beautiful because it has such a woeful tone to it.
hey I've been wondering about that, too ! must be old englisch or latin or something like that... sometimes they sing "amor", like "Love" I think... but not too sure
I'm not a huge fan of Jane Seymour because something about her just rubs me the wrong way but this soundtrack is so remarkable that I'm actually moved by her death (but not as much as Anne Boleyn's did) . Never thought I'd see the day that would happened.
I would give anything to have this song played in the background as I die with my husband/loved one saying the exact same things Henry said in the show. What a way to go.
Interesting watching the Royal Wedding today, perhaps the marriages of Henry VIII were the most important of all of English History, with the repercussions still being felt today, FANATASTIC MUSIC
This is so beautiful and full of emotion and power. I remember watching this episode and when this music came on with the scene; tears were rolling down my cheeks! So moving. I Love The Tudors. =)
The first time I heard that song I had goosebumps from my head to my toes, my heart pounding like crazy, I was barely able to breath, filled up with emotions and then started to cry....it's amazing what that soundtrack can do to me
@TheWaterlooSunset just type in "a beautiful mind soundtrack" and then there's two kinds main theme and all love can be...type any of the two and you'll get the song....main theme is the instrumental version tho, all love can be is with lyrics hope this helps
Trevor Morris' work on this show is pure genius. I wrote him and told him so. This song is so moving and beautiful. Epic. I'd love to have this played at my funeral one day but it's far to regal.
She was my favorite of the six. She had a dignity like nothing else and her kindness made her even more beautiful. I fell in love with her a little and died a little with her.

Trevor Morris' work on this show is pure genius. I wrote him and told him so. This song is so moving and beautiful. Epic. I'd love to have this played at my funeral one day but it's far to regal.
BRAVO TREVOR!!! BRAVO!!!!

She was my favorite of the six. She had a dignity like nothing else and her kindness made her even more beautiful. I fell in love with her a little and died a little with her.

I'd love to have the lyrics of what the choir is singing.
Does anyone have it? I do understand gloria, miserere and jesus. Not more.
