Some of you people commenting about 'communism' are so deluded.
Stalin's USSR (as well as before and after him) was essentially a state capitalist system, with Stalin (/Khrushchev/Brezhnev/etc.) as its dictatorial leader, with it held together by secret police and military strength.
This wasn't a true example of a communist society, please don't claim it was. Those who say it is are merely parroting the pro-American bullsh*it they have forced down their throat from a young age.
you have just proved my point really, If you look at communist Russia when Starlin was under power he killed thousands all under this delusion. Communism doesn't work there's always going to be someone above you, and people get more money than others because they should, i life under communism is a life with no ambition and nothing for you to live up to and that is no life at all in my eyes. Most probs the reason why communism has died in some of the countries
communism and socialism- very different things my friend, if you think communism has no freedom what about the wests idea of guantanamo bay, and the immigrant camps in australia and other countrys? there is no such thing as complete freedom.
dont write a essay about 'how bad communism is' and how great america is then, enjoy the music bro, stop digging at rage against the machines leftness, it makes them who they are

I don't really care about america cause for one im British and it annoys me when people from my country who are like 17 say how they 'connect' with their lyrics when they weren't even a live when all the things they sing about happened, also it's politics from another country which is even funnier. I don't really care bout communism i think rage are just so overrated, their guitarist isn't that great of a guitarist he just re-wires his guitars and pedals, and makes it sound more that what it is
What i think is really ironic is that the fact that they have a communist star and communism has about as much about freedom as a prison. So therefore the band and everything they stand for is actually a complete contradiction.
Tom Morello is actually really overrated, as his solos use effects heavily, which sound interesting, but make a simple solo sound more than it actually is, which is nothing special, really, in comparison to Metallica, who rarely hide behind effects. *waits for abuse*
the star is the flag of the EZLN. they are showing support for the people of chiapas in mexico. although the EZLN use it as a symbol of their socialist beliefs doesnt mean rage are communists. could just mean they support the cause. but i think they are socialists, at least tom is, axis of justice an' all
we'll some of Tom Morello's effects are done by himself without pedals n amp effects. But yea i think he is a tad overrated but he is a good performer =) n i no 4 a fact cause i was near the front during their performance.
At least, communism means that no people are killed for profit, no hunger would exist for holding the prices high (artificially). communism would mean, people would decide together, and not just who shall be their next corrupt, delegate.
the only freedom that capitalism means is the freedom to exploit or get exploit. in communism, this is the only freedom you dont have, except of curse, hurting other people. just what i think bout it, of course criticising stalin and mao.
the only abuse i have to give is your inaccuracies about communism. its never really been put into practise in a full marxist form, most have either been heavily trosky, lenin or stalin influenced and because communism was first birthed in russia it had to be changed to suit their needs.
Marx actually believed britain would be the first country to turn communist and if it had we might have a very different view

Rage were immense live, I was at leeds and it was insane everyone was moshing and jumping and getting right into it. Reading looked like it was scared of braking a nail, crowd were shite.
I think it was a poor plan to remain standing the whole day at the main stage... I remember praying for this song to come on as my felt bled.. What a liberating moment it was
This whole set was just perfect i don't think anything will ever beat it. It couldn't of been any better. I think the only thing that could beat it for me is if somehow kurt cobain came back to life again and nirvana played a show. And i am 99% sure that something like that is ever going to happen!
i barely remember rage's set. i was so exhausted i was falling asleep on someone's shoulder in 1 of the quiet bits. so crowded in the middle i could do that. seeing rage will never be forgotten but never remembered in detail as far as i'm concerned. reading '08 was everything i thought it would be and it is the best thing i've ever done
yeh was front middle , they were incredible, and i found it funny becouse everyone was so pissed and everyone was singing along to the guitar solos somehow and stuff lol
When did I say I'm trying to be individual? I'm guessing you're one of these NME posers who turn a blind eye to other Funk-Metal acts like Primus and Faith No More (if you've even heard of them, that is) because they don't get hyped enough.
So how good were The Killers and Pendulum them? I didn't see them, I missed them for the Manics and Feeder, two quality bands who I'm glad drew crowds that weren't contaminated with bandwagon jumpers.
No you fucking dolt, your trying to say that somehow because RATM are famous they were a worse performance? And what are you talking about? RATM aren't even funk-metal, it's rapcore. And also, i have the album the real thing my faith no more, who are also a very famous band.
And you act as though your super cool for watching these bands that nobody heard of, when really they are just as famous or were as famous. So yeah good on you, you judge bands by popularity.
Well first off, I love RATM and they're one of my favourite bands ever. Can a lot of people who were in the crowd for them at Reading or Leeds say that whilst being honest? I doubt it.
Secondly, yes they are funk metal. Their music is a blend of funky rhythms and metallic melodies = Funk Metal. Do some research mate.
Lastly, no I don't judge bands on popularity, but I judge people who claim to like bands JUST because they're popular when really they're just jumping on bandwagons.
Actually RATM say themselves that they are Rapcore. Look it up, and there really isn't any actual "funk" involved 'do some research mate'.
Secondly oh so you were being a total dick trying to look cool that you know the band. It really doesn't matter if all of the people in the crowd are hardcore fans, they went to the festival to watch bands and also they were one of the bands everyone went to see in the first place. If you think otherwise your an idiot and your wrong.
Umm... yeah i like how all you can find one slight grammar mistake in my my long comment and then suddenly i can't spell. And if was going to be really fucking correct, it's a grammar mistake not a spelling mistake. You dolt.
it was pretty lethal down the front for rage but i fucken loved it!! best live abnd ive ever seen!!! i wa sogin fucken crazy and singing every word with zack!!! fucken love em!
Gah. Does anyone know that ace song that went? "Oh woah woah oh oh ___"(Word missing), it was at Reading 08, by another band, don't know who they were, but whatever. That song was great.
I was there for the last song I had been watching a good band up until then :P I love killing in the name of but Live they were well shit. The guitaring was good the rapping singing was poor its true listen to it again its embarrassing.
the sound on this video is, but they were amazing, and tbh they played killing in the name of twice so take your pick, and its a singalong really, everyone knows the words and most of that crowd werent dedicated fans
fuck off mate, if you were in that crowd you wouldnt give a shit, because that atmosphere was immense, i was over the bar at the front so go bend yourself
urr no its not, In 2007, the capacity of the Reading site was 80,000[6] and the Leeds site was 70,000.[7] This was an increase of several thousand on previous years.
yehh, they dont play so it can be put up on youtube, they play for everyone there. I bet us brits who were there wernt complaining cos they were having such a good time, so shut up ranting and piss off
was at the very front for rage it was fukin mental so i hit back into the pits during wake up.i lost a shirt,a shoe,my voice and broke my thumb during this set....best of the weekend.

danshaggy292 3 years ago 4
Pfft. Most of you wouldn't have even seen Rage if their performance wasn't so hyped.
VCK9009 3 years ago
Shut the fuck up trying to be so individual dumbass, there a really famous band whether you like it or not, and everyone would have gone to see them.
idiotoftheweek 3 years ago
When did I say I'm trying to be individual? I'm guessing you're one of these NME posers who turn a blind eye to other Funk-Metal acts like Primus and Faith No More (if you've even heard of them, that is) because they don't get hyped enough.
So how good were The Killers and Pendulum them? I didn't see them, I missed them for the Manics and Feeder, two quality bands who I'm glad drew crowds that weren't contaminated with bandwagon jumpers.
VCK9009 3 years ago
No you fucking dolt, your trying to say that somehow because RATM are famous they were a worse performance? And what are you talking about? RATM aren't even funk-metal, it's rapcore. And also, i have the album the real thing my faith no more, who are also a very famous band.
idiotoftheweek 3 years ago 2
And you act as though your super cool for watching these bands that nobody heard of, when really they are just as famous or were as famous. So yeah good on you, you judge bands by popularity.
idiotoftheweek 3 years ago
Well first off, I love RATM and they're one of my favourite bands ever. Can a lot of people who were in the crowd for them at Reading or Leeds say that whilst being honest? I doubt it.
Secondly, yes they are funk metal. Their music is a blend of funky rhythms and metallic melodies = Funk Metal. Do some research mate.
Lastly, no I don't judge bands on popularity, but I judge people who claim to like bands JUST because they're popular when really they're just jumping on bandwagons.
VCK9009 3 years ago
Actually RATM say themselves that they are Rapcore. Look it up, and there really isn't any actual "funk" involved 'do some research mate'.
Secondly oh so you were being a total dick trying to look cool that you know the band. It really doesn't matter if all of the people in the crowd are hardcore fans, they went to the festival to watch bands and also they were one of the bands everyone went to see in the first place. If you think otherwise your an idiot and your wrong.
idiotoftheweek 3 years ago
Idiot of the week, i like the irony of you calling people stupid but you still haven't sorted out your spelling.
It's "you're" not your. Check half of your fucking comments. Cumdump.

primarkopolop 3 years ago
Umm... yeah i like how all you can find one slight grammar mistake in my my long comment and then suddenly i can't spell. And if was going to be really fucking correct, it's a grammar mistake not a spelling mistake. You dolt.
idiotoftheweek 3 years ago

ADTR1990 3 years ago
Yet, Leeds atracts how big a crowd? Like half of what reading gets i believe!
holyorderoftruth 3 years ago
leeds get 70,000 reading gets 80,000. if you werent fucking stupid youd know reading only gets more because the site is bigger. absolute retard
ADTR1990 3 years ago
thats bullshit, there were far more than 70,000 at leeds fest. Dunno where you came up with them numbers.
ratastewie91 3 years ago
urr no its not, In 2007, the capacity of the Reading site was 80,000[6] and the Leeds site was 70,000.[7] This was an increase of several thousand on previous years.
shows how much you know
