  • i love spirited away, princess moninoke, and totoro! I hav the movies. But the new movie for Totoro stinks and the real one with the real vioces soundsalot better. To bad a lost that movie T^T!!!!!

  • I love Totoro forever..

  • I am just wondering is there any other Totoro cartoons besides this movie called My Neighbor totoro? Find it hard to believe nothing else has ever been produced...

  • @agipy5 look for Hayao Miyazaki, the director of this movie, also creator of great and beautiful movies, and yes my neighbor totoro is the only movie about totoro.

  • @InfernalskePandaen ok thanks for that. What about Cat Bus, is there any other spin offs of him from the original movie?

  • i love this song....

  • As an American, I don't know how far back this video goes, but I remember it as a child. I am now going on 23 years old and I have a 1 year old daughter. To me, it doesn't matter. The music portrays the story.... A thoughtful and considerate family. I just want to say thank you, My Neighbor Totoro meant everything to me as a child.... and I want my daughter to be just as attached. TTYL.

  • I remember when I was little(like 8 or something)when I saw the Hayao Miyazaki movies on Toonami.I was kinda scared on all of them, except Totoro.I couldn't remember the names of any of them until 3 years ago and the nostalgia pulled me to tears, even now.But it saddens me knowing that the new generation won't be able to experience what we did.I agree with the comment right below me

  • *sniff* I remember watching this as a very little girl, in Japan. My favorite movie.

  • My god. I know animation is great and all.. yada yada yada. BUT NOTHING HAPPENED IN THIS FILM! There was no conflict, no tension, no goal, no narrative, no characters... It was JUST A BUNCH OF RANDOM STUFF HAPPENING!

And I CAN'T STAND THIS OVERLY IDEALISTIC "NOTHING GOES WRONG" CARE BEARS WORLD. I mean, even Care Bears had more conflict than this! This is like how Barney is. And I know this is a children's film and all, but god they deserve better. They don't need to be talked down to.

  • @TheTheDeclaration it's an inspirational film. that's the way children's movies should be.

  • @katiecanter It's inspirational in the way it inspires me to speak out of the menace that is anime, and bring attention to the underdog that is western comics and animation.

  • @TheTheDeclaration just because there was no big external conflict where the world was at stake that doesn't mean that nothing happened or that it isn't a touching story. You might need explosions and robots fighting for you to like a movie, but Totoro is a more subtle and simple story that rings true to real life. Now wouldn't you say that that's the opposite of talking down to kids?

  • @juveag7 More subtle? You mean like the big titular forest creature that should stick out like a sore thumb that only the kids can see like Fred Flinstone's Great Gazoo? Or that giant Cat bus that comes out of no where and is never explained?

    Yeah. Reeeeeal subtle there.

  • @TheTheDeclaration i just gotta ask why are you trolling on every miyazaki film video you see? what do you hope to accomplish?

  • @blorge510 To spread the truth. Pure and simple. I have a vendetta against anime. Anime makes me mad >:(, especially when it steals OUR awards. My anger towards anime was pent up inside me all these years. I never understood anime why anime was so popular or why weaboos had to put down GREAT cartoons like Animaniacs, Freakazoid, or Batman TAS, which I felt were well written, and tout obscurantist schlock like Akira, Spirited Away, and Perfect Blue as masterpieces over them.

  • @blorge510 For awhile, I thought, "maybe I just don't understand anime, maybe it's just so complex that I can't wrap my head around it."

But then, I found a reviewer, his name was Confused Matthew. He went around trashing all these overrated popular movies, and then he got to the Matrix sequels, and gave me valuable insight on an intellectual disease called "OBSCURANTISM"

  • @blorge510 "To ask what this means is to miss the point, the point is to beat you over the head with useless jargon until you accept that you are in the presence of a higher mind"

    -- Confused Matthew

Matthew showed me the light. He taught me that it was OKAY and actually perfectly righteous to hate on things that try their hardest to NOT MAKE SENSE. When a friend of his sent him a copy of Spirited Away to review, he savaged it as overrated obscurantist trash it was. I was moved.

  • @blorge510 I now make it my duty to watch anime, and point out all the obvious plot holes and the overall shallowness this "medium" or "artform" brings out in its entries to prove that western writers have ALWAYS been better than Japanese ones and that the Japanese should learn some English because Japanese is obviously not an ideal language for writing stories. Closing out, when Confused Matthew finishes up most of his requested entries, I'm gonna request Grave of the Fireflies.

  • @TheTheDeclaration I'm just gonna say to each their own. I just think it's wrong that you're trying to force other people into your opinion. Sure anime has flaws but those aren't what people focus on when watching them. They focus on the experience itself. Anime is an art and not really a genre so you can't just say that they all have cheap stories. I say if you don't like anime you should just stay away from it.

  • @TheTheDeclaration As a side note I like American cartoons as well (well at least the ones made in the 90s)

  • This is such an awesome movie ^-^

  • Best movie of all time.

  • @sqeakingkev What song is this?! :D

    Lol.. thanks

  • @thelegendbullet937 ur welcome :D

  • hai, i am a noob at manga animations, do you have suggestions? Thank bitches :3

makes me smil happy everytime i watch it

  • When i was little my parents blew up a grey waterbed mattress with air to be used as a makeshift trampoline for my sister an I. We named it Totoro :]

  • I want Totoro to exist and be my big, furry buddy. Can you imagine how incredibly awesome that would be?

  • @Trund27 Wait... SO HE DOESN'T!?!?!?!

  • @PredictableEnigma Only in our greatest dreams,my friend. Sorry :(

  • @OfficialOffice Totoro is a Totoro that sole purpose is to do whatever Totoro's purpose is.

  • why do i have the feeling i have seen this befor?

  • Oh god this brings back memories.

  • Totoro is in fact messenger of Death,

  • guys is this a sad story?

  • @nurrizzah86 ok thx

  • Thumbs up if you love Studio Ghibli!

  • @ilikesoupism good thing nobody said thumbs down on your comment

  • 01:14 so thats why that creepy ass pic came from =) i think i like the original better =)

  • I had friends who said Ponyo's better than this.

    HAD.

  • @autobot3123 its not!! Totoro is way more better than ponyo,

well actually it depends.you should see the original before you judge because the new copies that they made are screwed up

  • @autobot3123 XD

  • @autobot3123 it is

  • @alef321 I'm guessing you're ignorant to the art created by Hayao Miyazaki, or you have a terrible sense of what's a good text and what isn't. Totoro is a classic that will go down the decades to come. Ponyo's just another environmental awareness video that doesn't incorporate much emotion in the characters, unlike other films he did about the environment such as Spirited Away. Bitch PLEASE.

  • @autobot3123 i think you shouldn't hate "Ponyo" even other says that its better than "TOTORO", both are such great films and both have the same creator "Hayao Miyazaki" Both films are made not for comparisons but for us to learn how to appreciate things in life..

  • @ryanjae29 When did I say I hated Ponyo?

  • Comment removed

  • @autobot3123 but Ponyo had a kick-ass female Asian driver.

  • @MrLawliePawp Totoro was a kickass giant bear-thing who was friends with a cat that was also a bus. Your argument is invalid.

  • @autobot3123 Wasn't an argument just stating that the movie Ponyo, had a Kick-ass female Asian driver who went trough a ''tsunami'' alone with a small car.

  • @autobot3123 i dont think ponyo was better..i didnt really like ponyo, especially bz it had miley cyrus' sister

  • i think i seen this before

  • good

  • Is it just me, but does Totoro creep anybody else out?

  • @oceanangel101 YOU HAVE NO SOUL.

  • @heirofskil That's what my best friend tells me. Don't worry, though; she's coming over next saturday to convert me to a Totoro worshipper. xD

  • ...................

  • I die over this movie... I miss it so much... the VHS tape is just different than blu ray but this is like the most amazing animation ever

  • That Totoro's roaring scared the shit out of me when I was little.

  • @JamieMiss1 Really? It always made me start rolling on the floor giggling. XD

  • Great editing! I commend you! Just a personal irk though is that I'm not a fan of the Disney version of the dub. The older version was more..... organic, ya know? But great trailer! I love the piano cover of the soundtrack song. :)

  • I would not let my kids watch Grave of the FIreflies either! Totally agree on that, but you really don't think Totoro is appropriate for kids? My 6 and 7 year olds love it. They didn't really get into the Spirited Away, and my son (7) liked Castle in the Sky more than my daughter (6)... but they really did like Totoro. @TheSpyChecker- what part about it do you not think is appropriate?

  • 100 likes and I will post a LINK to this movie on my channel

  • i love Hayao Miyazaki films XD they're amazing to watch!!

  • when life was easier ....

  • Can I share this trailer on my web site kidworldcitizen (dot) org? I will give you full credit, I am just reviewing some different foreign films for kids...

  • @kidworldcitizen sure.

  • Great website, btw.

  • @kidworldcitizen despite the colorful, and brilliant animation, and the lovable deep characters, i would NOT recommend this movie for children. Just like i would not let my kids watch Grave of the fireflies.

  • @TheSpyChecker

Grave of the Fireflies is definitely not for young children. But I watched Totoro when I was three and loved it. It's always up the the parent, of course, but I can't help but wonder why you wouldn't recommend it? (I'm just curious here!)

  • Why did I almost started to cry when I saw this trailer and recall the movie?

  • 12 who do not like this??? This is the feel good movie of all times!!!

  • does that big animal thing really turn evil?

  • I love this movie so much (: nice job with the trailer!

  • Aww so much beautiful memories come up everytime i watch this :) it was a better time back then... i miss those days :) love this movie <3
