The BEST one lasted nearly 40 minutes, wide open throttle, no water but twice the amount of oil. General Motors Holden 161 CI six pot. It ran to a solid stop! The next morning the thing turned over on the starter with no compression. EH Holdens and early Torana engine.
You guys don't get it. the chevy 350, 454, 305, and the 360 don't die. That's why the 350 is nicknamed a bulletproof engine because it can handle anything. The new GM engines are garbage except the vette and silverado and Sierra. the last good engine GM made was the LT1 and which is a 5.7 350 v8 that they put in Buick roadmasters chevy caprice and impala and cadi fleetwood.
@Hatebot123, not quite. The 327 was a destroked 350. It was 4" bore x 3.25" Stroke.
I'm assuming that you are referring to the Vortec 5300 which has a 3.78" bore x 3.622" stroke. It's cubic inch displacement is more like a 325. Yes 325/ 61 or 327/ 61 will both give you 5.3. I too wrongly made that assumption & only found this out recently. .
The thing to know is that the Vortec blocks have no relation to the old Chevy small blocks in any way shape or form.
GM sucks now because they don't make anything themselves, they just buy all of their garbage from someone else and rebadge it. Take it from me, I am a GM mechanic.
@Jdub121686 altough i am a chevy man, i agree. the best 21st vehicles from gm are the siverado line and the corvettes. the tahoes look like escilade or however the fuck you spell them. and they are so luxurious i dont see why you would spend an extra 10k for a badge that says cadillac and that being basically the only difference besides a half a liter in engine size. even in the 90's the tahoes and escilades looked the same. although cadillac owners dont aknowedge the escalades back then.

@nosnowintexas This is what we did with it after it would no longer burn the tires. It was beat on for several days before this point. It would either not idle or diesel depending on where you set the timing due to having such low compression. No waste there.

@nosnowintexas This is what we did with it after it would no longer burn the tires. It was beat on for several days before this point. It would either not idle or diesel depending on where you set the timing due to having such low compression. No waste there.
