  • I like pudding

  • Hey someone should point out to these researchers that they may have found a smoking gun. If they can make plaques grow artificially they may have found something very close to the natural mechanism in the disease itself. What I am saying is that there may be a natural analog to this anti-diabetes drug, there is already growing excitement about insulins role in Alzheimer's. BTW there may be close similarities between one brain disease and others.

  • In my life I have cycled, dived and been athletic, springy and bouncy, gosh,, but I have also had binges with beer and kebabs, junk food heaven when I have been a big fat slob. When I am relatively sane and just live in the median, (my normal kind of life), then I notice that routines which include junk food and mcDonalds make me feel lazy and hungry, it is not just weight gain. Junk food is addictive and can be extremely toxic for people who get hooked on the sugar high / insulin cycle.

  • Or just lay off the pasta, bread, refined carbs and sweet drinks which are probably one of the primary causes of this and many other illnesses today. If eat so much sugar and crap that it wrecks your body then you have basically asked for it. Feed that crap to your kids and you are an uber moron too. mc donalds, coke, what other great inventions has the USA got in store for us?

  • tell that to my grandmother who died of alzheimers, she was born in 1925 on a farm and was about as healthy as could be, until she developed alzheimers. this is a genetic problem, it's passed down just like hair & eye color, though mostly on the female side. I'm about sick of peopl like you blaming everything on what we eat or drink, if you eat anything to excess your gonna get sick, and as far as lay'n off the bread pasta ect that leaves meat & fruit which you food nazi's bitch about too.

  • My point was about diabetes, which is certainly caused in vast the majority of cases by diet. there is a clear link between diabetes and alzheimers disease as described in this video. The fact is that 1/3 of kids today will develop diabetes by the time they get to their 30s, the diets they have are the main cause. Many people eat carbs to a staggering excess, that is my point exactly. It is cheap crap, textured and sold as food. Be angry at the 'food' corps.

  • Actually Attkins diet is pretty good, mediterranian diet also, Japanese is great, French food is very healthy, so is food from anywhere where it is cooked from fresh ingredients without big food corps adding a bucket of hidden sugar to it. Most obese people actually suffer from malnutrition, People need to eat more protein, fresh vegetables and fruit. The Romans used to use lead in cooking as a sweetener. yummy yummy, but it is dumb.

  • i agree to one thing you said about sugar, we eat way too much of it however the mediterranean diet is as rich in carbs as americas is. many people in the US eat good food but not in moderation, our food problem isn't so much what we eat (which isn't too different in many aspects to the amount we ate a hundred years ago) but the fact that we don't exercise that food away, diabetes is one of a few diseases caused directly by food consumption, alzheimers isn't

  • You are of course correct but one thing is different today. There are products, namely sauces and processed foods, which contain massive amounts of sugar and salt. the reason the salt content is so high is so that they can cram more sugar in as it masks the taste. This is done to stimulate an insulin rush which makes people feel hungry again soon, basically it is making the food addictive. Such products should be discouraged and clearly marked, they might even explain tiredness ie. no exercise

  • i loooooove pringles :]

  • pringles is different, once you pop you can't stop.

  • Did she have mercury tooth filling? Living on a farm that is using roundup(monsantos dangerous weed killer) is going to make anyone sick. What are you a scientist. Why has Alzheimer cases only risen in the last couple of decades. Were those genes "inactive" did "global warming" activate them.

Not food but cooking in aluminium vessel can cause Alzheimers. There is cause to everything, you are doing more harm by stubbornly holding on to this stance. This is junk science other research has proved

  • other research has proved the link with food, mercury and aluminum. Food does not mean normal food but chemically ridden food. Living on a pesticide sprayed farm can cause cancer to farmers who eat only fresh and healthy food.happened 2 wheat farmers in India who had to spray pesticides for GM wheat, the doctors called in genetic as the next generations were getting cancer at early ages, now they grow separate wheat for their own consumptions & cancer rates have dropped. genetic theory is flawed

  • sorry it took so long to reply, no she didn't have mercury fillings, alzheimers has been traced thru the women on her side of family for about 150 years, but only 2 generations have been medicaly tested. alzheimers is not on the rise, anymore than death is, the problem is were detecting it earlier and more accurately, plus the population is increasing so when its said theres 250 new cases but only 100 before to few people think about the fact that theres 3x the number of people.

  • In Bangalore, my friend father who died of Alzheimer was admitted there got statistics that the cases have jumped from a 100 odd to 65000 in the last 3 years.

I suggest you do google for Dr. Bruce Lipton. I really liked you calm reply it is nice to have a productive discussion this way, very rare on youtube i must say :-)

If you read or listen to BruceLipton you will understand why the Gene theory is flawed. They do the test and they give a conclusion, but that does not have to be right.

  • I remember a genetic study done on a group of people in extreme south of India and they found that the genes resembled a race of africans in a certain area so they said maybe the africans came there and screwed them(they did not say screw:P). There is no history of any connection with that part of India and africa. But what I noticed is that both the place were on the same latitude. So is it not possible for them to have same characteristics. Environment changes ur genes this has been proved.

  • again you mention india, this is very much a developing country, plus the laws aren't as strict where they need to be, chemicals can aggravate or trigger or simply cause development of certain problems, it could be this caused such a rise in cases or like in the US people finally could afford the doctor or finally started going like they needed to, and suddenly problems were getting properly diagnosed. hell it could be all the above, i believe in the last. i try to keep an open mind about it

  • Well India has much better healthcare and it is so cheap yet reliable so americans are coming down for treatment(medical tourism). That is how you take the gene theory. What caused Alzheimer or diabetes in the first place to you ancestor.ppl just believe that there are entire generations of defective humans I refuse to believe that. Also if you look at the theory of the fittest these ppl should have been dead, when there was no treatment during those(azliehmers is old age, but what about)

  • With better healthcare I mean better than assumed by others. What about juvenile diabetes and "genetic" diseases that affect kids. How did that ever get carried down, these kids ancestors should have died.

What you have to understand the gene theory is just a theory not a science, because there is no way you can conduct a test spanning generations. There are food additives like Sodium benzoate which change DNA. IF mother and son were drinking soda and you teste their dna it would be damaged and

  • a flawed observation will led such junk scientist to conclude that the son got it from her mother. They are enough petrochemicals pcbs and such that have changed DNA. Do you know that 3000 research articles are submitted everyday to the media, out with only 350 are published all over the world. I am sure they would be published about sodium benzoate(even though BBC did after 8 years of confirmed studies) as the soft drink companies would be at loss, they definitely have control on the media.

  • So you always have to take genetics study with a grain of salt. As there are a few thousands genes but this study was concluded with just 1 gene. This gene could be the same for all the people living in that latitude. What I really cannot understand is if juvenile diabetes is genetic how did their ancestors survive they should have died as they were not the fittest. The fact that your genes can remain dormant is also a theory. peace out

  • The only reason why I taking the time to explain it to u is because I feel you have an open mind and you have first hand experience(i have second hand) with alziehmers, and you passed a comment "food nazi's bitch" which made me comment back. I used to think the same way, but then when I did research and if you do on the net u can find the actual papers. I really had respect for these people who are really concerned 4 the health of humanity as a whole and i felt very guilty of not believing them

  • I will end my comments here and implore you to do more research and definately not on sciencecentral. the fact that these people are bending backwards to prove MSG is natural is a cause for concern and I proves that this is junk science.

  • well in man im glad somone else has looked into this truth too

  • yes chemicals do cause major health problems for farmers, but try to stay with developed countries, india has far less restrictions than the US does. one of my grandfathers developed skin cancer from ddt exposure, they weren't told the dangers of handling it. what you described is very rare here ( with the exception of the seeming never ending supply of idiots who do what they're warned not o do ) between the regulations & education. BUT i very much agree that GM foods need a lot more testing.

  • lol "side-effects may include constipation, nausea, and.......Alzheimer's"

  • That's scary. My mother is on metformin.

  • Obviously, more research needs to done, but it's an interesting video nonetheless.

  • Wait so is the drug bad? It can help but it can also hurt...hmmmmm

  • Well if your taking it don't stop until you consult your doctor.

  • hahhahha I really don't think I will need at all, and if I do not for another 60 years :P

  • *the drug

  • Terrible syntax the sentence should read...

Hahahhah I really do not think I will need the drug at all. But if I do, not for at least another 60 years.
