An old gay man attracting kids to his backyard? Sounds off, but i'd send my kids to Randi any day. That desire to learn can't be quenched once it takes hold.
I just found out about James Randi a few minutes ago, and with each successive video I watch I like him more and more. And the best part? In this video he says that HE LIVES IN MY CITY. :D Now I'm going to be keeping a special eye out for a charming old man with a legendary white beard everywhere I go!
@TheBlueorigami He also has a website, I think it's jreff dot org. He has his phone number listed on his website. I called it, but I really didn't expect James Randi himself to answer the phone. I figured I'd just get some message or something. I actually had a conversation with this guy. It was awesome. Despite him being world famous and a genius who won the McArthur awards. He wasn't too stuck up to talk on the phone to someone like me. Most people like him couldn't be bothered.
Homosexual activists understand the power of words.
Please visit my channel to watch a one-minute video clip in which popular atheist author Richard Dawkins admits that homosexual activists "hijacked the word 'gay'".
The word "homosexual" is more appropriate and accurate because it, unlike the word "gay", actually describes the behavior/attraction/relationship being discussed.
The word "gay" helps homosexual activists push their agenda.
@lightandbeautiful The Sapir-Wharf hypothesis, long debunked. When people attempt to manipulate language in this way, the words take on the concept's connotations - the "dysphemism treadmill" - not the other way around. "Gay" was a euphemism for "pervert" before it took on its modern meaning - its connotations are softer than they once were.
There are very few people in the "public eye" that I admire and would like to meet. James Randi is at the top of that list. I wish I'd known him when I was a kid but I consider myself lucky to have grown up with people like him, Carl Sagan and Neil DeGrasse Tyson on TV.
@Nr2reaper So... you don't think for yourself? You click the like or dislike buttons based on how many other people have clicked them? You don't watch the video first then decide if you like or dislike it?
@jones81381 no... unlike you i know what a great guy randi is.... he gets my like without even watching what its about since the stuff hes done so far way outw8s 1 youtube clip... which trolls like you do stupid replies because you think you are worth something
@Nr2reaper Such hostility. I asked questions. Your post that I had replied to gave the impression that you clicked like before watching the video based solely on the number of likes it had. There's no sense in letting your claws out over a question.
@jones81381 again you fail to use your brain, 90% of all youtube vids are fake bullshit with what people call a lightsaber... try to use your brain before trying to be a smartass
Brilliant man, I never get bored listening to him and for some reason can't help but smile to nearly everything he says. Hopefully I'll be like him when I'am older.
I've already got the talking to animals thing going haha.
I wonder why magicians are so reluctant to admit they are ever fooled by other magicians? For some kind of ego reason, they can't stand it, and yet they show their tricks to laymen and expect them to LOVE being fooled!!! Plus, magicians then get offended if the laymen try to guess how it's done! But those same magicians don't like to be fooled by other magicians or admit that they were! Strange.
@AmazingArends I've know quite a few magicians. The good ones were always impressed and even pleased when I worked out how the trick was done. The bad ones always seemed to be the ones in it for egotistical reasons.
In magic and in science, the truth is usually simple...but unexpected :-).
@AmazingArends The thing is, he's not just a magician, he also specializes in figuring out other people's tricks. He's the guy with the million dollar prize for anyone who can prove the supernatural. He always figures them out.
I remember when I was a kid and I first learned that we are only seeing the stars as they were millions of years ago. That small fact blew my mind and astronomy continues to fascinate me every day.
I also dislike looking straight up someones nose. Talking to racoons is fine just be sure that they have had a full set of immuinzations first. The planet Jupiter has a real name Jupiter is just the name the White man has given it.
@OgreWorld Well, at least he's opinionated and not very eager to accept other people's opinions. If that's wisdom, then he's King effing Solomon. But seriously though, he's quite interesting and it's obvious that he's got a lot of genuine wisdom. Just don't try to tell him anything that he doesn't already agree with, because that's pretty pointless.
Long live Mr Randi. I do love the old bugger, for he speakes the truth =) May long life and fine things be heaved upon him, he is so deservant of happiness...
I saw a speaker who was talking about the ability of crystals on a bracelet to help with the rotation of a persons back and she said 'I am a skeptic and...'
During the question and answer period I asked her, as a skeptic, if she was aware of James Randi. She said 'no, who is he?'
What a great man. We need more people like him around. Instead of seeking for entertainment all the time, people should listen to people like him more often, it could really make a difference.
@gspahr I doubt Mr Randi was born with a white beard either but yes, I concur. He is genius personified and it is people such as he, Professor Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and even George Carlin, that give me hope, rather than reaching for a rope.
@gspahr Well, would been really freaky if u were bon with a white beard now wouldnt it? And believe me when i say, he wasn't born with a white beard too! Theres hope.
