  • i watch this video every year.

  • Someone may have mentioned this before, but I don't feel like reading 6 pages of comments! The little boy, Butch Patrick, was the son on "The Munsters" TV show. Monkees 4ever!

  • I'm old enough to remember this show and episode. To this day I smile when I hear "Deck the Halls" when whoever sings "Gay Apparel". It get's better.

BTW the kid is Butch Patrick, he played Eddie Munster on The Munsters and Mark on Lidsville. Man, I spent way to much time wathching t.v. as a kid.

Now we dawn our GAY apparel - thats what got me!

  • @AllMixedUp312 its "dawn we now..."

  • @itscuppycakeBITCH Actually it's "don we now". Don, as in to put something on. Not "dawn" as in the sunrise or dish detergent. But it's okay, I know people who sing "two turtle ducks" in "The 12 Days of Christmas", srsly. Merry Christmas!

  • watched this on KTLA 5 in Los Angeles this week! i missed the 'gay apparel' deal when i was a kid... wouldn't have known what it meant anyway:) love the sight gag... loved the rui chiu ending too. i was such a monkee fan as a pre-teen... my cousin and i used to make blouses and bell bottoms and nehru jackets and hip huggers for ourselves, trying to match what they wore! i was one hip 11 year old... or so i thought:)

  • COOL

  • Butch thought it to be funny when Mike's voice got turned off but, he realized that as Melvin it was fun to celebrate Christmas

  • djunius, what you said was I meant because it wasn't funny way back then and that's something that they all knew the way it's known now...and talking about George, he did write about his personal experience in "I Me Mine"... making fun of sick issues is something that's very different because it does go against the moral laws of nature

  • In the "Rui Chiu" piece near the end Davy calls one of the guys a "poof"...so I guess the gay-calling was an in-joke.

  • in talking about a "poof", I heard George Harrison say this one time about himself because when he wrote "Something" for "Abbey Road"- George said that when he wrote "something in the way that she moves", he was originally going to put "he" that we call God but, he too, thought that if he went that way then people would change their thoughts about him and misunderstand it, so he wrote "she" in saying that God does have many forms and that's something that throws alot of people still today

  • However, after Davy says "He's a poof" you hear someone say "Ha ha ha" sarcastically. So joking like that wasn't cool even in 1967-68. Then there's the Monkee Girls...

I think Harrison wrote that in his "I Me Mine" autobio...

  • This is my favorite episode EVER!! They make me laugh so hard.

  • the gay apparel gag threw me off too. Its too funny!

  • holy crap. i havent seen this one yet. that "gay apparel" thing really threw me! it kinda.. hurts.. heh.

  • Wow I love this. It makes me laugh so hard. Thanks for posting it up. God Bless!

  • when you could make fun of gay apparel! lol! butch was cute then!thanks!
