it is really helpful. I am using sb900. I found it when i shot indoors, the powerful speedlight does not always automatically provide the effect I want. Therefore I need to manually adjust the power down
Thank you very much your video was very informative. I have just purchased an SB700 and it is so much easier for me to understand when viewing your video than attempting to read the manual. Your knowledge and ease of understanding is very much appreciated. Going to use for the first time to take some portraits for a Christmas present tonight!!! Will continue to look out for further videos. Once again many thanks.
Thanks for your tutorial. Let me ask, I am considering the new Nikon SB-910 which replaced the SB0900. would the newer model 910 have the same easy to use dial to switch over to remote/master?
Right now I have a SB-700 and man is it hard to use. love it, but I am a newb to the menu settings. I also have a nikon d7000
For those who don't want to hear about the different models of flash, skip right to 06:00. Great video, thank you very much! Informative and clear. Lovely wife too :)
Thank you for such an informative and well explained video. It's hard to find tutorials that are clearly shot AND with someone who knows how to speak clearly and informatively. I especially appreciated the photos you displayed right after and with the side-by-side comparisons!
Many thanks to you and your beautiful wife for taking the time to make this video! You covered a great deal of information in a short amount of time. =]
Great video. Is there any change to see a video about controlling the Active Auto-Focus Area or how to have nice pictures ( I'm talking about focus ). thanks for your videos and time... Txxx
Now THIS is YouTube instruction done right; fantastic demonstrative instruction! Thumbs way up and SUBSCRIBED, can't wait to watch your other videos. Thank you so much for making the videos and sharing your knowledge.
P.S. Your beautiful wife Lola has the patience of a saint. Give her a big thanks too :)
Thank you very much... really one of the best videos I have seen for photography, which explain everything that I need to know... Thanks for sharing your experience and appreciate your efforts. .... I would like to request you to do a video for low key lighting photography....
hi very nice video...can u pls teach me how to use the remote from the sb 900 synchronize to the camera? what settings from camera do and what settings to sb 900? hoping for your help thanks....
I don't know why your steering people away from the sb400. IMO it is a very capable flash and much better than the pop-up. I use it for times when I don't need a big strobe. The flash head tilts for bounce flash and you're able to vary the output with the compensation dial and it's powered by two AAs that last a long time. Great little flash for casual photography. With the release of the PW Flex it can be mounted on top and used for backlighting.
Thank you very much for sharing this. I just bought the SB-700 and am learning how to make the best use of it. Your video has helped a lot. Thanks also to Lola for being so patient! :-)
This video was incredibly helpful. I just bought the Nikon SB-50DX, and I can't find a whole lot of information on that particular speedlight. Do you know which one you show that is the closest to the one I have? My guess is the 600, but I'm not sure. What I do know, though, is that already my pictures are getting WAY better, and I really appreciate this video.
I don't want to doubt what you say but at least try to understand why, taking pictures inside my house where the lighting is sometimes less than that seen in the video, I can't take a picture properly exposed without increasing the ISO sensitivity up to ISO 800-1600 with an aperture of f/2 and 1/60s; currently I own an SB-600 flash unit.
How do you get the images so well lit and properly exposed with only ISO 200, is perhaps due to more and better light generated by the SB-900?
Maybe I found the cause. The flash was not set in TTL but in TTL-BL, the SB-600 automatically selects this mode by default (!?!), based on what I could see the flash in TTL-BL to balance the ambient light tends to underexpose, while in TTL the photo looks much brighter like what I see in your video. Thanks, maybe now I begin to understand how to properly use my flash indoors.
@NonSoloImmagini Totally agree. I think he might have use the manuel mode on his flash. Other wise its not possible to use such a low iso setting with 1/100 of a sec without increasing the iso to about 800 and beyond. Something is not right with this information.
@gogglez76 No, the information is correct. At the time I had not much experience in flash, but now I can manage flash just like this guy says in this video, and when I shot indoors (house) I also use very similar settings. As I mentioned in a previous comment (below) I can thank this guy if I am now able to properly use the flash indoors :)
Is a fast lens recommended for this? I use a 50mm 1.8G and flash pics I take with wide apertures come out darker than 5.6 for some reason.
