The Shot, The Catch, LeBron James, The Drive, the Fumble, Art Modell, Red Right 88, 1995 World series, 1997 world series, Cleveland fans suffer the worst in every sport.
I'm a musicologist from Brooklyn, New York. I am in one of the most pretentious fields in the world. I am supposed to idolize the old, dead, white paragons of the western tradition. *I* idolize Michael Jordan. Period. Thank you.
@Yourenigma I think most of us can appreciate great modern athletes of any race and yet ALSO appreciate Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, even if they're long dead and of a race and birthplace you seem to consider worthy of contempt.
The advanced stats showed in 1989 the Cavs were probably the second best team in the regular season. It's just that unlike the best team (Detroit) they weren't equipped to stop a rampaging Jordan in the playoffs.
Speaking of advanced stats and Mike, check out his playoff stats from 1989-1993. It's like a great All-Star plays at 5th gear, but Jordan found a 6th in the regular season, and then somehow went to a 7th in the playoffs.
@rebeleyens what r you talkin about this is called the shot look in the nba archives this shot on ehilo is def the shot that one in college has no name
uhh no offense to you or Wilt but most of his stats was because he was 7 foot and back then the second tallest man besides Wilt was 6' 7' .. he got most his points of free throws because opponents would just foul him
God I Feel bad for these cavs teams.... Mark Price, Craig ehlo, ron Harper, Mark Daughtery Played their fucking hearts out... "The Shot" wouldnt have been nearly as great if ehlo wouldnt have made the spectacular layup.....
IMO Wilt Chamberlain is undoubtedly the greatest player of all time... UNDOUBTOUBLY
Lenny Wilkens from 1:40-2:25: "Does anybody have any ideas? I don't. We double him, he fucks us up the ass - we triple him, he rapes us in the throat! It's like this guy has 5 penises and a basketball! Fuck it...let's just see what happens."
Who's shot was more devastating to their city/fans? Michael Jordan's "shot" against Cleveland in 89' or Allan Houston's shot against Miami in 99'. Remember the Cavs were a 3 seed and the Heat were a 1 seed.
@bigdaddymatty17 I would say Jordan's shot, because he hit another dagger shot against them 4 years later, he destroyed that team, franchise, fans and city, making them change uniforms, arenas, and coaches to try and move beyond the destruction...lollll
@scorpionJB I believe Miami changed their arena as well (to the AAA arena) and their uniforms. Those classic Heat uniforms changed as soon as Allan Houston hit that shot in 99'. In 2000, the uniforms looked different and the Heat played in the American Airlines Arena vs the old Miami Arena. Remember, the Knicks beat the Heat in 98, 99 and 2000. But now Miami has Lebron, Wade and Bosh and still can't win a title with that team. Who has worse luck?
@bigdaddymatty17 great points, that was a big time rivalry between the knicks/heat, houston hit that dagger shot than bounced in, that was a dagger.....I think if you looked at cleveland's roster in 89 and miami's roster in 99, cleveland was favored to win the championship that year, even the pistons couldn't deal w/them that year...Lebron will never be the reason miami wins the title if they ever do...8 points in a championship game from a superstar is the worst I've ever seen
@woot1456 It was more about the intense emotion each team was feeling. Just watch after the last shot how Ehlo falls to the ground and Jordan jumps up and punches his fist. Neither team could take losing, but of course one had to lose. Oh and just check out how Jordan can barely catch his breath to do the interview. His blood was just pumping with intense emotion. This is the only game I've ever seen Jordan that intense.
@woot1456 not a tough shot? r u kidding dude?... 1. deciding game 2. cavs knew MJ is gonna get the ball so he has do elude his defender 3. "3" ticks left 4. a hand on the face 5. cavs leads by 1... dont u think thats enough reason to say that its a hell of a tough shot to make? nerves alone will make u crumble into pieces! u wont know how it really feels if u havent experienced such a situation before. it is always easy when your just watching it... to make the shot is a different story...
I love how MJ always played at his best against the team that hated him the most. Cleveland had an excellent team but was never enough to beat the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES # 23....
I loved those Cavs teams, they did everything they could against Jordan, played their hearts out, played hurt, left everything on the floor, and it just was never enough.
Man, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls used to always defeat the Cavaliers in the playoffs. It seems the Bulls loved beating the Cavaliers in the playoffs, just as much as they loved beating the Knicks in the playoffs.
@afroromka Yes, the 1st round, 7-game borefest series is a fairly new thing. It used to be 5 games, and rightfully so. All the other series were still 7 games though.
