@kiarra00 I love this boat. Any idea where I could find a gearbox similar to the one you have there? I've been shopping around, and I can't find a small transmission like that anywhere, at any price. Do you know if anyone still makes small gearbox units like that? Personally, I think small boats with simple drive trains would sell commercially where reliability is a must. I have an outboard powered boat, but I never feel secure with the thing, in situations where failure in not an option.
@memphisapplegate It's not excatly a gearbox, it's a prop angle adjuster, there are no gears inside it, it just pushes on a shaft inside the driveshaft that moves the propeller blades, to make it go reverse, different speeds and neutral. I don't know where you can get one of these, because mine was in the boat when i got it.
Great vid. man. I would check the oil for gasoline. It looked like the needle valve has been leaking gas into carb. Past the rings into the oil. BTW, I am from the center of New York state in the states. Like your channel.
Do you know how i can find out what hp my briggs is? I got it from a friend it had no shroud and recoil , i need to order in parts but not sure the model or hp.... Could you help me out? I posted a video response to your vid.
Unreal - cast iron Briggs run for ever well almost lol - u have a really good old cast iron 16 hp to sell? Wait where u live shipping could brake some one can not find them here in the us I have a Rare 1971 homelite garden tractor one of only 200 made need stock engine?
No, it's pretty cool! The boat had a english made JAP engine when i bought it, but it had constant problems, so i put in this engine from a snow blower i had sitting, and the engine works very good in this boat!
Of couse, it's a JAP engine what do you expect oh no wait wait wait wait it's just Honda motors not Toyotas or Mitsubishis hahaha that was supposed to be a joke.
Ohhhh, you got me in the nose with the exaust, cough cough :P I agree with what others said about smooth low idle, it really seems like a good running engine and seems to propell the boat well as seen in your previous vids. Thanks for sharing
Yeah! you´re right the oil is pretty bad, although i changed it this summer, some water gets in it, and the engine is driven a lot, so it gets bad pretty fast. So i´m gonna put some new oil in it this winter!
Oh yes, that´s for sure! This engine has been used on a snow blower for 30 years, and on my boat for 3 years, no rebuild or anything, starts every time and just keeps on running, that's why i love briggs and have over 50 of them!
i bet if you sunk it it would find flammable molucules in the seawater and still run

amiskomulainen69 1 year ago
@amiskomulainen69 no, the engine sits at an angle, and the oil was filled to max when it was out of the boat, that's why.
