The name "Territorial Army" I think has always confused people into thinking its an individual regiment completely separate to the regular British Army. I spent 6 years in the "TA" your basically a part time soldier for which ever regiment you decide to join i.e. REME, Royal Armoured Corps, Infantry, Royal Signals, Paras and even the SAS.. Most of the time it's voluntary to go to a war-zone etc. you would be asked if your particular trade/skill is needed.
i want to join the TA when im 17 but what i wanna know is can you do it while at college ? my course in monday tuesday and fridays, so can i do both ? an answer would be appreciated :)
Im 31yrs old living in Bangor NI, I am looking to join the TA, but need to get my fitness level increased. Can anyone give me tips to the level i need to be at and is there anyone near me, thinking the same thing who wishes to train together?
greeting i am with ta in new zealand i think it worth it. a different life experience i joined in my first uni year now i am finishing my uni. will stay in ta as far as i can see
yes it sertinly is worth joining im in the TA ma self and im on phaze 2 training at first wen i joint up i had no confidents in me but now i can do anything realy basicly the TA is my life now . hope this helps
Good for you. Nice to hear. Im full time myself but not army..im with the Royal Marines Commando's. The TA and Royal Marine Commando Reserves help us lads/ladies out in the regulars no end. If it werent for the Royal Marine Reserves my unit (42 Commando Royal Marines) we'd have been severely undermanned. Same goes for regular army units and their TA counterparts i'll bet too.
depends on how long you haven't used you're medication for the limit 4 years without taking any medication if you done that then yes you can. go to you're nearest tac (TA Centre)and talk to the recruitment officer.
He/She will give you the relivent information there.
well we have training weekends every other weekend... but its not essential to go to them all... but it has to be done at some point.. and training nights are tuesday everyweek for me 7.30pm till 9.30pm but also.. not essential to go everytime but ofcourse the more training nights and weekends you go the faster you will get training done.. but you can do it in your own pace so you should be fine.
no you dont have to have a civie job to join the TA, the main point of the TA is that people that have full time jobs can still be in the army.. but you dont need a job to join the TA and danbo.. there are set days for me its tuesday nights for a min of 2 hours and every other weekend, but we all go and have a few pints together at the weekend :)
No you don't have to be in full time or part time work. it's just so people who do work full time can still be in the army. go ot you're nearest tac (TA Centre) speak to the recruitment officer he or she will answer any question's that you might have
Really Inspiring! Many people see the TA as a weak arm of the armed forces. Tahts bollocks just take a look at this video and u'll see! Thanks for posting this amazing video!

Yeah they do go 2 war. the only difference between them and the regs are they are part time.. and volenteer to go 2 war.

111alien111 1 year ago
@01hreshy It's a choice, you are asked to volunteer but you can say no. Although I think you have to do at least one tour of duty
Jammersis 1 year ago
@01hreshy yes you go to where the army is in the thick of it or not.

If somebody joined the TA army, does that mean they R in the British armed forces? Could they then boast they served there country?
Is a tour of duty compulsory, if so, do u go front line along with other army personal?
