Ok, that "nasty rat tail" you keep referring to is actually called "fairytale ends" because believe it or not, a lot of people prefer that to a blunt edge. And by the way, arbitrarily starting to grow your hair is far from a bad thing. Maybe someone had long hair and made the mistake of cutting it short, much to their regret, and decided to grow it long again. Big whoop. Yes, people are defensive of their hair because yes, it does take a lot of partience and work to let it grow. Let them be.
I just got out of the military in late Sept. of 2010 and I have been growing it non-stop since then. To give you an idea of how long it is now, my hair in the back is now just past my neck / around the trapezius area... and the bangs and sides of my hair are now about an inch just past my chin & jaw.
(Note: The hair in the back has a slight (but noticeable) curl... while the hair in the front & sides is straight. Gee... What gives?? Why does my hair do that??)
The is the first time that I have really "let my hair down" and let it grow. The thing is is that I've heard people either say that I should either:
1) Let it keep growing about another year before I trim it because it is still way to early to cut my hair...
or...
2) I heared other people say that I should trim about a 1/2 to 1 full inch to supposedly remove "split ends" and that this will cause my hair to grow faster.
@VredesStall Trimming hair does not make it grow faster!!!!! It keeps the hair healthier as a whole because you remove damage, but it does not stimulate growth. Give it a little while to grow into itself, and if your ends are really damaged, cut off a little bit, as much as you thiknk should be taken off. Going from short to long hair requires adjustments for you as well as for your scalp, so give it time to get comfortable.
The thing is is that with the latter opinion... 1/2 to 1 full inch sure does sound like alot to cut off or trim, especially since I've only been growing it about a year and my hair (in the back) is now about 6 or 7 inches long.... and (ultimately) I like to grown all of my hair to at least shoulder and/or chest level before I am "forced" to cut it all off again. (In case your wondering, this is sort of an "experimental phase" that I'm going through since I have NEVER grown my hair long before).
Again, this in my first time with longer(er) hair... so I would say that I now have to play catch up for while as far as the whole long hair thing goes. Any answers or suggestions that you would be willing to give as far as "maintaince cuts/ trims" are concerned (especially for a guy like me who is now growing my hair long for the first time) will be very much welcomed. Thank you and keep on looking good!!
I've had long hair my whole life, its shorter then yours tho but ya I get the same comments and stuff. Like when I was little basically everyone told me to cut it off... It's so rude and like wtf its not their hair.Lol and I also wash my hair everyday too, although I take showers at night because it's just easier.
your hair is beautiful but that thing you said about rat point hair lol that dont mean thay just started growing ther hair some ppl call that angelwing hair and thay dont cut them becuase well thay and i belive that our hair is a covering from god and its not good to cut it witch it does talk about in the bible soo umm yea
never mind PinkLadyJ, I read the answer to my question on your channel which is what I should have done in the first place. Sorry about that. I'll try to not let it happen again.
I don't mean for this to be a hair request, but I wanted to ask you more about your brush. Where did you get it and what brand is it? I want to buy one just like it. I know you said a soft bristle brush, but I'm just the kind of person who likes details if I ask someone where they got a hair product because I love my long hair too, so if I see someone else with long hair using something for it and thair hair looks good like yours does then I admit I get nosy.
i used to use a brush after i wash my hair but since im trying to grow it, i switched to a wide tooth comb and its so much softer and it has a little more volume
I have about the same lenght of hair and a bit darker than yours with natural blond highlights. I don't have any problems detangeling my wet hair at all. all you have to do is to be very gentle and start at the bottom up. I do use blowdryer (just mainly for my hair from shoulders up, the rest dries up naturaly quite quickly) and it doesn't damage my hair at all, I guess I am lucky hehe.
Do you have any recommendations for a good brush for long, curly/wavy hair? My hair is a few inches shorter than yours (I've always had long hair too). Bristle brushes and combs makes my curls freak out and go poof, but if I don't brush than obviously tangles become a nightmare. I have never used dyes or heat on my hair. I also don't use any products with chemicals in them (I have crazy sensitive skin). Do you have an tips on how I can untangle my hair without losing curl definition?
@gealachinion One of those brushes with the widely spaced bristles with the balls on the ends would actually work for curly hair. My best friend has super long and super curly hair and that's what she uses. Soft bristle brushes, like what I use are better for straight hair because they fluff it up- Fluffing is the last thing curly hair needs. Also they sell ouch-free combs with widely spaced teeth I hear those also work well for de-tangling extra thick or extra curly hair.
Also, and I hate to bring this up, my ex grew hers out for me! :-D Waist length! The reason why im sorry to say that shes my 'ex', she 'messed around' on me for another guy. Well as soon as we called it quits, then after she left the other guy she was seeing for some unknown reason, then she decides to contact me on Facebook, guess what? SHE CHOPPED IT ALL OFF! Its not even shoulder length! :-( She looked so much better with it as long as it was.
As I said, its very beautiful and natural, and yes if you let it dry naturally its sure going to stay naturally. Again, I wish more ladies would grow it out that long, because it brings out true beauty. Yours is especially nice 8-)
so what happens when you got a sweet sixteen and you dont want to use any heat on ur hair but your mom force takes yu to the salon? I really dont want any heat devices.
Also, thanks for telling me what brush to use! I didn't know that, so I'm hopefully going to get one soon, although maybe not considering I just spent a ton of my mom's money on new clothes... heh... but seriously who can blame me I got a dress with frickin zombie unicorns on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as well as a hat that is a black version of Ash's in the first season of pokemon! (red would clash with my hair as well as most of my clothes)
The shortest I've ever had my hair is shoulder length in 4th grade, and since then I've just let it grow. The annoying thing is my mom likes me to blow dry my hair, but she doesn't like to bring me to get my hair cut because she feels like she isn't getting her moneys worth just because it isn't being cut very much. I don't blow dry my hair even though she wants me to though, unless I just showered before going somewhere other than school, so I don't get split ends very quickly
I have an oily scalp too ! I wash my hair every other day... and if the second day it looks too gross, I just tie my hair up in a glamourous ponytail :)
Ive discovered recently that my hair grows really fast... so I stopped using heating tools and I'm letting it grow. Its about hip lenght now ! ..But I'll keep my side swept bangs the ton of layers that I have, for more volume and style ;)
I really love your hair and I hope my hair will get as long as yours one day !
@ThePinkLadyJ Hey, i totally agree with you. But i have a problem. I have 90cm Lng hair. it's naturally straight, and I also don't use any straighteners, I don't curl it and stuff, but my hair is staring to get split ends. Have any advice?
@NeckoChibi do you blow dry it? If so I'd suggest trying air drying your hair. Trimming the ends regularly should also help. I do 2" every six months (in fact my trim is due again next week). But you could trim a little less or a little more, or less or more often, it's really up to you and how long your hair can hold out before it really needs the trim. If you already don't blow dry and trim regularly then I might suggest braiding your hair more often - exposes it to less dangers.
Your hair does look like its in beautiful condition but honestly it looks awful on you, get a haircut you are so pretty you could look amazing change the hair and makeup and you could be model material.....
@bzylizzy I've already done modeling actually (you can see the photoshoot in my earlier videos). The photographer specifically chose me because she loved the way my hair looked on me and I love the way it looks on me too so I shall be quite happy to stay the way I am.
I think you're being too harsh on people who "haven't had long hair their whole lives." Good for you. You've had long hair your whole life. That doesn't mean everyone else is an idiot. Maybe the only reason you think every one who "arbitrarily decides" to grow long hair has nasty ends because those are the only ones you notice.
And for another matter, what's wrong with DECIDING to grow one's hair long? There's nothing arbitrary about it if someone decides later in life that they want long hair.
@sequenceofletters Thank you for a bunch of false assumptions and putting words in my mouth that I never said if you had read note #6 in the video information maybe you'd have known better. I NEVER said "everyone" who grows long hair. I specifically said those who let their ends get ratty and damaged with split ends. And I never said there was anything wrong with choosing to grow long hair I specifically said if you choose to grow hair it needs to be trimmed and that trims should not be feared.
@ThePinkLadyJ At 1:58 you said "I can always tell when a woman has arbitrarily decided to start growing her hair at some point in her life and she hasn't had it her whole life. You know how can tell? because her hair has like a foot of rattail split ends that comes to like a nasty point."
I'm sorry if you were offended by the tone of my comment but this seems to imply to me that you think every woman growing out her hair has this. If you said "often" I would agree with you, but you said always.
@sequenceofletters your interpreting what i said wrong. If a person has a ratty split ends - inches of them - then they have clearly not had long hair their whole life because they exhibit the classic signs of someone who is afraid to trim and sacrifices everything for growth - even their hairs health. NOT all people who decide to grow long hair let that happen but the ones who do let that happen I can "Always" see that they decided "arbitrarily," but they are not everyone who chooses to grow
@ThePinkLadyJ Also you are correct that I did not notice note #6 (and I apologize for that, I did not see the warning before I comented) but it doesn't address my comment exactly. I was referring to "women growing their hair out" rather than "women with fairytail ends" or "women with v-cuts."
Also, I found the term "arbitrarily" (which was used many times in the video) to be belittling, because you have no basis for the judgment that anyone growing out their hair is doing so arbitrarily.
@sequenceofletters I used the word arbitrarily by it's exact definition: "Determined by chance, whim, or impulse, and not by necessity, reason, or principle" as quoted from thefreedictionary. I'm sorry if the term seems offensive to you but you must admit with ANY hair style (not just the choice for long hair but choosing any style) people often make their styles choices "arbitrarily." It's different than having to have your hair because of your upbringing, religion, culture etc.
@ThePinkLadyJ I understand completely. I am merely suggesting that while many people may decide to grow their hair out arbitrarily, others do feel that they have personal reasons for doing so. I guess the only reason I took offense (as I said before) was because you SEEMED (I realize know that this was unintentional) to suggest that EVERYONE who decides to grow their hair out does so arbitrarily. It's a long process. I doubt many people would be able to do it if they decided to on a whim.
@sequenceofletters Very true there are many reason one could choose to grow hair. Some could be "arbitrary" and some could be very good reasons after a lot personal reflection. Some people grow hair to sell or donate. Some people grow hair because they join a religion that prefers it. Some people grow it to make a significant other happy - growing isn't hard but it is a patience game.
@ThePinkLadyJ Thank you for clarifying that. I understand what you mean, and I hope that you understand why I misinterpreted your words. The grammar of that particular sentence was rather "arbitrary." (pardon my lame humor)
I did not mean to offend you in my original post, I'm afraid that the character limit on comments combined with some thoughtlessness on my part may have caused me to come across as overly terse. I really was trying to suggest that you were being a little harsh with your words
@sequenceofletters That's okay I'm sure my tone sounded frightening but it's not because I was trying to be insulting. By nature I'm a very animated person who gets excitable whenever I express ideas or thoughts on just about any subject matter and I tend to sound "soap boxish" when really I'm just being passionate with my expressions. I love many different types of hair actually, the way I wear mine is just what works for me and my musings on "ratty ends" is subject to easy misinterpretation
@cassiegirl741 do you know of any urls online to places that can show me how to make one? You can private message it to me. I'd be glad to give it a try. I'm always up for a new experiment.
i have really long, its probably about 3inches shorter than yours and i use straighteners and curlers all the time, theres no point in having long hair if you cant make it look good sometimes, and i never have split end, heating devices have never done me and my friends any harm and we all have long hair, however i do get my hair trimmed an inch every 6 weeks which is what my hair dresser suggested to get beautiful healthy hair, and i couldnt agree with her more, but on the plus side, good vid!
My friends always tell me off for washing my hair everyday, but having gross oily hair is so uncomfortable! I'm so glad that you are living proof that you can wash your hair every day and still have long hair. Love your make up in the video, I'm going to go check out your channel! :3
I have to wash my hair daily as well. So oily otherwise! I used to have super long hair and now the one thing I like about short hair is almost no combing or brushing and minimal shedding! But I might grow my hair out again and make sure it's super healthy and thick.
I really don't brush all my hair out but lose 100 strands or more a day and sorry I cannot control that (so my hair will have to become thinner on the bottom?
how many feet is your hair? is very long
how often do you brush your hair a week, use shampoo, and inches to cut off each year?
good advice, but there are soo many rules I can't keep up with them
@msdancingqueen11 According to most medical reports I've read its quite natural for everyone to loose between 100-300 hairs a day. Humans just naturally shed hair. It's only something to be worried about it you're loosing way more than that. Last I checked which was over a year ago my hair was 38" but it's the same length it's always been it wont get longer than that. I brush my hair maybe 2-3 times a day and wash it once every day but I said that in the video. I trim 2" every 6 months.
My hair grows really fast (when Im healthy, cause currently Im ill...) and my mom is so so tired to see hairs everywhere ! lol. It sheds a lot and its long and thick... poor mom.
@ChestnutChessy Well it's actually normal for a person to loose between 100-300 hairs every day - according to medical journals I've read. The finer the hair the more often it sheds usually. Switching to bristle will probably help. Make sure to have your hair dry 1st and you can also brush the ends, then the middle and then work your way toward the top that way it's gentler on sensitive hair and scalps.
y do u always say hello gubna wen u start a video?
u do the samething i do i always wash my hair in the morning i cant last a day without washing my hair and i fell discusting if my hair is nit washed or i would get mad if its not washed cuz its feels bad
If you never use a hairdryer, dont you freeze in winter? i can never let my hair dry naturally in winter (i live in SA so i use the term winter loosely, but still :)
@Bregmaiden I live in Southern California so it's never very cold here and if it's winter and a little chilly I usually have a heater on. Though my dry time does take longer if its colder or if its very humid. In the summer it takes about an hour to dry and in the coldest times of winter maybe 2 hours.
I have to brush my hair when it's wet because it's so curly :P It would be too poofy otherwise, because it destroys the curl formations. I brush it in the shower when I'm letting my conditioner soak in, it's a lot easier and smoother :)
@takerumayu they help a little but with prolonged heat exposure the hair can still slowly damage over time even with protectants. At least they should help slow down your rate of trims a little.
I wish I could make the claim to never having cut my hair off. When my hair was long, it never tangled, no knots. It seems that many don't understand that very few can grow nice looking long hair without micro trims. Btw. I never allow heating devices, metal or very tight styles on my hair. Same shower routine as yours.
Epic hair, i sure want mine to grow as long as yours so i'll have what to headbang with xD Also, i just found your channel and you seem very nice and down to earth and it sure is good to find another fellow dracophile!
Have you ever considered trying CO (Conditioner Only) washing? My hair type is very similar to yours and it works great because it gently cleans my hair and adds moisture. It really helps my scalp not get greasy so fast. I don't know if anyone has ever asked you that, so I thought I ought to mention it.
@g0squirrel No I don't think I've ever heard of that before but I'd be willing to give it a try. I don't have to work this weekend so that'd be a good time to be experimental lol
@ThePinkLadyJ If you do decide to try it, just make sure your rinse really well. When I first started experimenting with that washing method, I had a couple of accidents where I didn't rinse enough and it made my hair weird. :) Good luck if you decide to try it!
@s3rvana Nope it's of medium texture but it might be because I wear a towel for about 5-10 minutes to soak up the excess moisture and I also live in a warmer climate with little to no humidity.
Thank you soo much for making this vid! It makes me feel a bit better about having long hair. I hate it when random people come up and touch my hair and tell me to cut it. I have had it for my whole life and my mom would totally kill me if I cut it anyway XD I guess I should trim the ends though but their not too bad really lol. You have a very pretty natural colour ^_^
We have the EXACT same hair routine! I've always had long hair, too, so caring for it just comes naturally to me like it does for you. I do use one of the brushes with the little balls at the end, but I brush more slowly than you do with your bristle brush :)
For oily scalp, don't use a bristle brush. Bristle brushes distribute oil throughout the shaft. Perhaps a wide-tooth comb may help your scalp with oil production. As well as using apple cider vinegar once a week, to neutralize and deep cleanse. I have long hair, too. Recently, I cut it to mid-back length. I search and destroy split-ends. I recommend a lose braid before sleeping. Brown rice is good for strong hair/nails. Strong hair is how it grows; stimulate the scalp each day in the shower too.
i feel like i have 934859384 things to sayy lol. But i also feel like you have probably heard them all :/ I HOPE YOU READ THIS!! If you gave yourself an afro, it would be sooooooooo huge lol. I knew a girl that had hair was a little past her boobage and her afro was easily 2 feet. Yours would be like 8!!! It just amazes me that you were able to keep it for so long without cutting. Have you ever wanted to cut it? Did you ever come close? Im sure you have developed a passion for your hair lol <3<3
@LuhLuhLauryn Nope never wanted to cut it. I dunno if I'd call it a passion I have a lot of passions in life but my hair isn't really one of them it's just something that's there. Though I do like it and I am happy with it.
I have hair about your length, and I have a tip you might be able to benefit from. I use a microfiber towel to help my hair dry faster. I have curls, so I have found the Curlease towel is the best for me, because some of the other towels like Aquis have those waffles in them that make the hairs "stick" and ruin the curl formation. Since you have straight hair, you could probably use any brand and benefit. I find my drying time is cut by a third to one half with them (any brand).
i used to have long hair and when i cut it shoulder length it was weird! I remember when I was going to bed and tried to flip it up behind the pillow like you said it was so short that it was pointless. I miss my long hair now. Love your long hair and I will try to grow it back now.
@Halfaheart5 No I didn't say it quite like that you're taking it the wrong way - not all women refuse to trim just because they're growing hair - & I never said all women. I said I can tell when I see inches of ratty split ends that they have decided to grow her hair but are neglecting to trim. My statement is obviously not going to include women with healthy hair who trim. I'm talking about a very specific mindset. It's common for people growing long hair but its not everyone.
Thanks for this video! I will stop combing my hair when it's wet now... and get it trimmed. I really hope this helps. I have damaged hair that I've wanted to grow out for years. Not because I want length but I want it to look better.
*goes to throw out straightening iron* I have those nasty points you described and while they drive me nuts, I just keep forgetting to trim it at full moon. Thanks for the tips, I HAD to cut my very long hair when i was 23 because of an accident so its still growing from that. I have to add oil to my very wavy locks to keep them happy.
@singerchik102 is it a frizz problem? Cause my friend uses a product called Frizz-ez (I'm probably spelling it wrong but i think it's in drug stores). If you wash your hair at night you could also wait for it to dry and then braid it and sleep that way and the next day the hair should be far more manageable. Coconut oil also helps with fly away hairs. There are a lot of websites that talk about how to use it.
what color manic panic do you use for pink. i had long hair but it was burnt off by a friend and then salon. to make up for it ive been bleaching ever since and doing funky colors. i decided for new years to stop bleaching my hair and let it grow out to my hips (any longer and it looks bad on me..) i'm keeping it a deep redorange color over light brown but i was wondering what other MP colors show over dark hair. especially deep pinks! (i had cotton candy pink for a while and i miss it..)
@ThePinkLadyJ that's what i thought. hot hot pink is so pigmented, but on my white hair it was neon D: i use Special Effects hot lava (alcohol based but i find it doesn't hurt my hair anymore than a clarifying shampoo) over light brown hair now. it turns a ridiculously vibrant deep red orange that fades through copper. i know dark reds other dark colors take on brown hair. there's actually a picture of a lady with bark brown hair who used MP vampire red on the MP website. looks pretty.
@sonicSWEETheart I considered going red all over but it'd take sooooo much product and effort. I get exhausted just doing the little parts in front lol.
@ThePinkLadyJ if you ever do want to go all over, you can mix conditioner into the dye (not too much obviously) and then apply to damp/moist (but not too wet) hair using a comb. you can cover alot of hair with just one jar. you probably wouldn't need that much, and if you left it in overnight, not only would it stay longer, but it would condition your hair.
every time i come back to his video, i miss my long hair even more D:
Awesome! I LOVE my short bobbed coif and felt so liberated when I cut my "lifelong" thigh-length tresses off all at once. I also think long hair is pretty... WHEN the person keeps it as healthy and perfectly blunt cut square around as yours. Too many have that "long at all cost no matter what" attitude that gives it a bad rap. And some just want it long when their hair is simply not thick enough to support their desired length. You cover a lot of important ground here. Kudos!!
@MissJosephine3 Nope I like my hair long I plan to grow old and be a little old lady with long gray hair. I get about 3-4 compliments on it every day between work, errands and just going to places in general, or when I was in school. I occasionally see people with hair as long as mine, sometimes even longer and that always makes me happy but I actually like lots of hair types not just long, long is just what I like best for me.
@faithalwayslove I don't care for long hair on men. Long hair just seems like a very feminine thing to me. My boyfriend has normal short hair and the 1st 3 years we were together he had a big pink mohawk.
I love yr hair! I color mine way too much to grow it back out.I had long hair, but not like that.i cut it off bc of bleaching to much. No, I decided I really want long hair,so I'm gonna use only demi color on my hair.No bleach at all! I need to have my long hair back. It's thick & way better looking long on me.I can tell, u don't color it.
@Chirsty76 Yep this is my real color though sometimes i like to dye the front parts pink with manic panic dye. Their dye isn't that harsh and it washes out pretty quickly but I don't get to do it that often. Good luck in growing your hair.
my hair is to the middle of my back its naturally wavy and curly.i noticed since june 2009 i noticed blow drying my hair and using the curling iron is it much better shape.in fact the top part is growing out straighter then it was years ago.i use to have more kinks when i curled it and stuff.i also can't use anything cheap my hair is quite fussy.lol its use to the good stuff.i wash it like every 5 or 6 days cuz it doesn't get oily.oh and my hair takes 8 full hours to air dry.yours is sooner?
@RavishingRedheadd mine takes about an hour or an hour 1/2 on average but I live in a warm climte. When it's colder or humid it might take more than 2 hr.
when i was 8 i fell asleep with a huge wad of bubblegum in my mouth. from then onshort hair & HATED IT! when i became pregnant i vowed to let it grow. it's still not as long as i want it, but it's close. i also have naturally curly hair ie split ends no matter what i do! i also bleach, though red henna is in my future. the Grey is annoying. you have lovely hair & in IMHO your not bitchy, just exasperated at the same ?'s over and over. your hair & makeup are fine. Cheers
wow! i luv ur hair! lol, my hair is SO thick, i swear it won't grow longer, it just get's thicker! I've been trying to grow for about 3 years now, and it's only about 2 inches longer, and a BUNCH thicker!
beautiful woman with beautiful hair! I've had my hair long as a child then i cut it, and cut it again now i'm going to let it grow long again with me the hair grows very very fast, i'm of european decent :D
do you see any difference in using hot water vs. luke warm-cold water? ive heard it cuts down on frizz.....also THANK YOU SO SO SOOOO MUCH for the brush info!!! my hair has been falling out for soooooo long!!! i started using my bristle brush everyday, OMG!!! i ahve my thick hair back!! I LOVE YOU!!!
@LittleMissMuppetX13 Not that I've ever noticed. I usually try to take my showers as hot as I can get them but I have had a few luke warm ones on days when the boyfriend steals all the hot water and I never really noticed any changes in my hair but frizz can also be a personal thing. Wow that's great, I'm glad to hear it's working out so well for you :D Thanks
i think some people can either grow it or they can't ~ i grew up with my hair very long like yours (i could sit on it!) but i've cut it maybe 10 times in my life short (even a pixie cut once!) and every time i cut it short it would grow out very long again (i have saved the braids in case i ever need a wig someday, lol) ~ i wear it long now, it's past my waist and i plan to keep it long for the rest of my life. my dad was native american, my mom always said that's where i got my long hair from!
do you rinse your hair out in cold or hot water???

Sorry about those who misunderstand the ratty ends. I thought it was very clear in your video that you were talking about the unhealthy uncut ends.

Ok, that "nasty rat tail" you keep referring to is actually called "fairytale ends" because believe it or not, a lot of people prefer that to a blunt edge. And by the way, arbitrarily starting to grow your hair is far from a bad thing.

VredesStall 1 month ago

VredesStall 1 month ago

Your hair is beautiful. My hair is waist length, with natural curls and it's becoming thinner because I'm 50 years old. Thank you for the hair tips.

i used to use a brush after i wash my hair but since im trying to grow it, i switched to a wide tooth comb and its so much softer and it has a little more volume
coffieworld101 3 months ago
wow beautiful hair!

@ihuseslover77 I've used several brands of dry shampoo over the years and was never pleased with the result
ThePinkLadyJ 5 months ago
Do you have any recommendations for a good brush for long, curly/wavy hair? My hair is a few inches shorter than yours (I've always had long hair too). Bristle brushes and combs makes my curls freak out and go poof, but if I don't brush than obviously tangles become a nightmare. I have never used dyes or heat on my hair. I also don't use any products with chemicals in them (I have crazy sensitive skin). Do you have an tips on how I can untangle my hair without losing curl definition?
gealachinion 5 months ago

I don't blow dry my hair even though she wants me to though, unless I just showered before going somewhere other than school, so I don't get split ends very quickly
laquera640 6 months ago
I also use drugstore shampoos ! My hair is naturallywavy and shiny... it doesnt need special stuff to stay in great condition just like yours.
But it all really depends of your type of hair: some people's hair is more fragile

@ThePinkLadyJ Hey, i totally agree with you. But i have a problem. I have 90cm Lng hair. it's naturally straight, and I also don't use any straighteners, I don't curl it and stuff, but my hair is staring to get split ends. Have any advice?
NeckoChibi 6 months ago
@NeckoChibi do you blow dry it? If so I'd suggest trying air drying your hair. Trimming the ends regularly should also help. I do 2" every six months (in fact my trim is due again next week). But you could trim a little less or a little more, or less or more often, it's really up to you and how long your hair can hold out before it really needs the trim. If you already don't blow dry and trim regularly then I might suggest braiding your hair more often - exposes it to less dangers.
ThePinkLadyJ 6 months ago
@ThePinkLadyJ I don't blow dry it.,and i trim my hair regularly :) Braiding makes sense. Thank you so much. :)

ThePinkLadyJ 6 months ago 12
I think you're being too harsh on people who "haven't had long hair their whole lives." Good for you. You've had long hair your whole life. That doesn't mean everyone else is an idiot. Maybe the only reason you think every one who "arbitrarily decides" to grow long hair has nasty ends because those are the only ones you notice.
And for another matter, what's wrong with DECIDING to grow one's hair long? There's nothing arbitrary about it if someone decides later in life that they want long hair.
sequenceofletters 6 months ago
@sequenceofletters Thank you for a bunch of false assumptions and putting words in my mouth that I never said if you had read note #6 in the video information maybe you'd have known better. I NEVER said "everyone" who grows long hair. I specifically said those who let their ends get ratty and damaged with split ends. And I never said there was anything wrong with choosing to grow long hair I specifically said if you choose to grow hair it needs to be trimmed and that trims should not be feared.
ThePinkLadyJ 6 months ago
@ThePinkLadyJ At 1:58 you said "I can always tell when a woman has arbitrarily decided to start growing her hair at some point in her life and she hasn't had it her whole life. You know how can tell? because her hair has like a foot of rattail split ends that comes to like a nasty point."
I'm sorry if you were offended by the tone of my comment but this seems to imply to me that you think every woman growing out her hair has this. If you said "often" I would agree with you, but you said always.
sequenceofletters 6 months ago
@sequenceofletters your interpreting what i said wrong. If a person has a ratty split ends - inches of them - then they have clearly not had long hair their whole life because they exhibit the classic signs of someone who is afraid to trim and sacrifices everything for growth - even their hairs health. NOT all people who decide to grow long hair let that happen but the ones who do let that happen I can "Always" see that they decided "arbitrarily," but they are not everyone who chooses to grow
ThePinkLadyJ 6 months ago
@ThePinkLadyJ Also you are correct that I did not notice note #6 (and I apologize for that, I did not see the warning before I comented) but it doesn't address my comment exactly. I was referring to "women growing their hair out" rather than "women with fairytail ends" or "women with v-cuts."
Also, I found the term "arbitrarily" (which was used many times in the video) to be belittling, because you have no basis for the judgment that anyone growing out their hair is doing so arbitrarily.
sequenceofletters 6 months ago
@sequenceofletters I used the word arbitrarily by it's exact definition: "Determined by chance, whim, or impulse, and not by necessity, reason, or principle" as quoted from thefreedictionary. I'm sorry if the term seems offensive to you but you must admit with ANY hair style (not just the choice for long hair but choosing any style) people often make their styles choices "arbitrarily." It's different than having to have your hair because of your upbringing, religion, culture etc.
ThePinkLadyJ 6 months ago
@ThePinkLadyJ I understand completely. I am merely suggesting that while many people may decide to grow their hair out arbitrarily, others do feel that they have personal reasons for doing so. I guess the only reason I took offense (as I said before) was because you SEEMED (I realize know that this was unintentional) to suggest that EVERYONE who decides to grow their hair out does so arbitrarily. It's a long process. I doubt many people would be able to do it if they decided to on a whim.
sequenceofletters 6 months ago
@sequenceofletters Very true there are many reason one could choose to grow hair. Some could be "arbitrary" and some could be very good reasons after a lot personal reflection. Some people grow hair to sell or donate. Some people grow hair because they join a religion that prefers it. Some people grow it to make a significant other happy - growing isn't hard but it is a patience game.
ThePinkLadyJ 6 months ago
@ThePinkLadyJ Thank you for clarifying that. I understand what you mean, and I hope that you understand why I misinterpreted your words. The grammar of that particular sentence was rather "arbitrary." (pardon my lame humor)
I did not mean to offend you in my original post, I'm afraid that the character limit on comments combined with some thoughtlessness on my part may have caused me to come across as overly terse. I really was trying to suggest that you were being a little harsh with your words
sequenceofletters 6 months ago
@sequenceofletters That's okay I'm sure my tone sounded frightening but it's not because I was trying to be insulting. By nature I'm a very animated person who gets excitable whenever I express ideas or thoughts on just about any subject matter and I tend to sound "soap boxish" when really I'm just being passionate with my expressions. I love many different types of hair actually, the way I wear mine is just what works for me and my musings on "ratty ends" is subject to easy misinterpretation

i have really long, its probably about 3inches shorter than yours and i use straighteners and curlers all the time, theres no point in having long hair if you cant make it look good sometimes, and i never have split end, heating devices have never done me and my friends any harm and we all have long hair, however i do get my hair trimmed an inch every 6 weeks which is what my hair dresser suggested to get beautiful healthy hair, and i couldnt agree with her more, but on the plus side, good vid!

good advice, but there are soo many rules I can't keep up with them
msdancingqueen11 8 months ago
@msdancingqueen11 According to most medical reports I've read its quite natural for everyone to loose between 100-300 hairs a day. Humans just naturally shed hair. It's only something to be worried about it you're loosing way more than that. Last I checked which was over a year ago my hair was 38" but it's the same length it's always been it wont get longer than that. I brush my hair maybe 2-3 times a day and wash it once every day but I said that in the video. I trim 2" every 6 months.

I'm getting a bristle brush, I got straight hair and it keeps sheding when I brush it. Do you got any tips what I can do?
ChestnutChessy 8 months ago
@ChestnutChessy Well it's actually normal for a person to loose between 100-300 hairs every day - according to medical journals I've read. The finer the hair the more often it sheds usually. Switching to bristle will probably help. Make sure to have your hair dry 1st and you can also brush the ends, then the middle and then work your way toward the top that way it's gentler on sensitive hair and scalps.

If you never use a hairdryer, dont you freeze in winter? i can never let my hair dry naturally in winter (i live in SA so i use the term winter loosely, but still :)
Bregmaiden 8 months ago
@Bregmaiden I live in Southern California so it's never very cold here and if it's winter and a little chilly I usually have a heater on. Though my dry time does take longer if its colder or if its very humid. In the summer it takes about an hour to dry and in the coldest times of winter maybe 2 hours.
ThePinkLadyJ 8 months ago
I have to brush my hair when it's wet because it's so curly :P It would be too poofy otherwise, because it destroys the curl formations. I brush it in the shower when I'm letting my conditioner soak in, it's a lot easier and smoother :)

We have the EXACT same hair routine! I've always had long hair, too, so caring for it just comes naturally to me like it does for you. I do use one of the brushes with the little balls at the end, but I brush more slowly than you do with your bristle brush :)
steph8608 10 months ago
For oily scalp, don't use a bristle brush. Bristle brushes distribute oil throughout the shaft. Perhaps a wide-tooth comb may help your scalp with oil production. As well as using apple cider vinegar once a week, to neutralize and deep cleanse. I have long hair, too. Recently, I cut it to mid-back length. I search and destroy split-ends. I recommend a lose braid before sleeping. Brown rice is good for strong hair/nails. Strong hair is how it grows; stimulate the scalp each day in the shower too.

Ellistrae 11 months ago
I have hair about your length, and I have a tip you might be able to benefit from. I use a microfiber towel to help my hair dry faster. I have curls, so I have found the Curlease towel is the best for me, because some of the other towels like Aquis have those waffles in them that make the hairs "stick" and ruin the curl formation. Since you have straight hair, you could probably use any brand and benefit. I find my drying time is cut by a third to one half with them (any brand).

It's common for people growing long hair but its not everyone.

singerchik102 1 year ago

@sonicSWEETheart Their hot hot pink is the only thing that shows over my brown hair in a few days I'll be uploading a review of their dyes.
ThePinkLadyJ 1 year ago

I'm 16 and my hair is about hip length, I can't wait until my hair is as long as yours.

Kudos!!

do you think you will ever cut your hair?or do you ever want to?
you must get alot of compliments! ive only seen one person-real life-with hair as long as you and she has never had a haircut.
MissJosephine3 1 year ago
@MissJosephine3 Nope I like my hair long I plan to grow old and be a little old lady with long gray hair. I get about 3-4 compliments on it every day between work, errands and just going to places in general, or when I was in school. I occasionally see people with hair as long as mine, sometimes even longer and that always makes me happy but I actually like lots of hair types not just long, long is just what I like best for me.

do you date men with longer hair as well or does that not matter?
faithalwayslove 1 year ago
@faithalwayslove I don't care for long hair on men. Long hair just seems like a very feminine thing to me. My boyfriend has normal short hair and the 1st 3 years we were together he had a big pink mohawk.

I love yr hair! I color mine way too much to grow it back out.I had long hair, but not like that.i cut it off bc of bleaching to much. No, I decided I really want long hair,so I'm gonna use only demi color on my hair.No bleach at all! I need to have my long hair back. It's thick & way better looking long on me.I can tell, u don't color it.
Chirsty76 1 year ago

RavishingRedheadd 1 year ago

Cheers

do you see any difference in using hot water vs. luke warm-cold water? ive heard it cuts down on frizz.....also THANK YOU SO SO SOOOO MUCH for the brush info!!! my hair has been falling out for soooooo long!!! i started using my bristle brush everyday, OMG!!! i ahve my thick hair back!! I LOVE YOU!!!
LittleMissMuppetX13 1 year ago
