  • So many awesome quotes in the piano solos!

  • 0:00 - 1:30 he plays a wonderful slow jazz

    1:31 - 8:41 normal andreas

  • They all sound good and play good but no one has a personality. This is hte main problem in Jazz today and this clip and music reflect what the situation is. IWe already have a Wes Montgomrey and Oscar Peterson ! It seems that people of today like "clones". I don't.

  • @MrJMREISSER I agree, I get the feeling that musicians are made into copies of each other these days. I mean, my guitar teacher told me to listen to this guy and all of the old jazz guys and copy them... What the hell? I thought music was about self expression...

  • @Benteiron It's about self expression but in an art like jazz, it is necessary to listen to and gather as much and practice as much of these as you can because in doing so, it helps you find your pocket or develop your own taste and enables you to use what you listen as the base to build on because jazz is such an artform that requires quick thinking. It is important to listen, and if you like the lick, why not re-use it?

To the Wes comment, I don't think he's imitating, I myself use octaves.

  • @Benteiron Check out Lawson Rollins Fire Cadenza. Unique and perfect. Not a copy but the definition of Self Expression.

  • Andreas <3

  • Playing and looking Fabulous!

  • Playing and looking Fabulous!

  • Who are the composer of this piece??? is andreas oberg???

  • 156 likes are from guitarists, the 5 dislikes are from singers hahhaahha

  • @William102582 lol!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think he should work with michael buble

  • Both Andreas and Marian are bringing this new life force to Jazz its absolutely phenomenal it saddens me that the world today is such an ignorant peice of ****... laddy gaga gets 3 million veiws singing a song that really didnt take ANY skill to make and Andreas studys at the best schools and plays incredibly technical IMPROVISED solos that took FOREVER to devolope and he only get 400k on his most popular video.. ppl need to wake the hell up

  • @Jazztastic2112 i scrolled down the comments just to see if anybody wrote something like this, because if it wasnt there i was going to do it. thank you.

  • I should have waited till the end for the piano part before i commented. Boy, that fire really grew!

  • Ya know what this reminds me of ? How my guitar smelled when i put it in the fire pit.

  • 7:56 reminds me of the head to Mile Davis' Dr. Jekyll

  • Fera Andreas oberg, sou seu fã fera, show seu sou Guitarrista Brasileiro.

  • totally just takes andreas oberg out in the last couple bars of his solo... damn petrescu.. he is a fucking monster. i don't think andreas even went as fast. i have worked so hard to play guitar.. and now i wanna play fucking piano...

  • this marian petrescu dude is a badass. oberg is sweet too.

  • Where can i learn how to play this kind of solos ? is it just what you feel or there's a theory of it ?

  • @asxefv Both, there's tons of theory behind it and also you should here it before you play it so you "feel" it too. Start with wes montgomery and really listen to what he does over each chord

  • genius pure and simple genius there is no others lik andreas and marian

  • I DON'T KNOW WHERE MY SPULD WILL GO AFTHER THE DETH. I JUST HOPE TO FIND SUCH A GOOD MUSIC IN HEAVEN OR HELL, WHATEVER WILL BE!!!

Thank you guys for the great level of emotions your music gives!!!

I only imagine how many hours every day you spend on the studio.

    Andrea - Roma - Italy

  • The pianist is from other world! incredible!

  • In my opinion, marian and andreas compliment each other really well.

  • @JazzJunkie4 Yes, totally

  • great

  • amazing!

  • Andreas is a great guitarist with a technique startled, but still very young;

he suffers from excess ideas and virtuosity: on the other hand also a virtuoso pianist but with more maturity

  • My lucky day I found YuTu Andreas and others it is remarkable a person with such atalent

  • very nice ! です.

  • I am glad I came this amazing artist--and his amazing group

    RS,Ct

  • grande grande grande.... esecuzione da panico.....pezzo meraviglioso, grande sincronia, ottimo performer...

  • this is why i love jazz

  • @norostereo actually it's bossa nova

  • This is what you get when you get the Olympian gods together... I keep seeing this, and I gotta say... wow... I need to get lessons with Marian and Andreas... wow...

  • damn that was sick. Petrescu definitely didn't let Oberg steal the show, which isn't easy :-D great playing

  • all of the musicians here are amazing...

  • rediculous

  • can someone give me the name of more young jazz guitar players as Oberg ?please?

  • lage lund, mike moreno, gilad hekselman, kurt rosenwinkel, ben monder, all better than andreas

  • @jamesdickens12345 Better how? Better technique? I doubt it. Or do you just like thier style better?

  • @jamesdickens12345

I'm sorry, I have to differ. Each with his own. You can't compare any of them, and by doing so, you are just doing precisely what is an anti-musical attitude: MY HORSE IS BETTER THAN YOUR HORSE. Music is not a competition, so if it is that for anyone, you gotta change your carreer. It's about sharing!

And each has something great of their own, therefore, no one is better than the other.

  • @jamesdickens12345 They come from a different school. Guys like Lage Lund, Rosenwinkel and Monder have quite a specific sound that is hard to describe but is very modern. (I can almost say it's a "New York" sound or "East Coast" sound but what does that mean..). Andreas is from a school of very traditional and systematic jazz from Europe. You can also hear a lot of fusion influences as well.

If you listen to the phrasing of artists from these schools, it's just totally different.

  • @jamesdickens12345 Andreas picks pretty every single note and articulates all of the notes whereas EC guys tend to articulate a whole phrase. It's the way they shape that defines the modern guitar characteristics. It is very hard to write it down on paper because although precise, it's very hard to measure it metrically.

Comparing the technique of each player, I just have to give it to Andreas. No one else plays as clear as him this is part of the style that he developed.

  • @jamesdickens12345 And here's the thing, don't even compare anyone when all you've seen is a couple of clips on YT. I just don't understand how you could do that, apart from hekselman, I've listened to all of these guys play live, on albums, from recordings at clubs. I don't believe that you should not compare artists, everyone does that. You need to give the artists a chance to impress you.

  • mitici!!

  • Intense chops

  • Tone sounds very Benson ,Does the mini floating humbucker account for some of that?obviously the guitar doesnt sound so good propped against his amp! is that a gibson?Superb to see a younger player who also looks cool ,makes jazz seem less dusty/academic. Awesome

  • starsk2009 ---> It doesnt sound to Benson, the sound, it is a mile away from benson style. I agree with the else.

  • I agree with starsk2009, check out any benson recording, he sounds so much like benson and bireli and many others. He is still killing though.

  • @KDFrieds Benson didnt come up with all the licks that he plays. Bireli doesnt play like benson neither. With that thoughts every jazz player plays like benson, even jazz players that were born before Benson. Dude, pay attention.

I agree, he is a killer machin anyway.

  • Makes me proud to be swedish and i'm really not the patriot-type.

He also masters gipsy-jazz which is saying a lot being that he is not from that culture.

  • effortless playing with feel thanks for the inspiration

  • ... lovely....

  • How do you not imitate when there is nothing new under sun,we all do it.

  • True, which makes it more remarkable that a select few have strong identities despite what I call " preserving historical forces" through imitation. Jazz music is a great equalizer. Only a few make it out of the imitator or "slick willy" stages with a strong identity. It sems that less and less are forging strong identities

  • Check out Resonance Records new release A Tribute To Oscar Peterson, an introduction to Marian Petrescu. It is just fantastic!

  • fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mr. Oberg is a great guitar, but here mr. Petrescu show how to improvise !!! Fell notes great ideas !! Hiper beautifulllll

    Tks for shearing resonancerecords

  • complete agree

  • this is bossa!

  • This is great jazz. Oberg's album: Young Jazz Guitarist, is amazing:-)

And Marian Petrescu is an top of the notch piano player.

  • Andreas' is great at cloning other guitar players and being unoriginal. He's got mad chops though.

  • My point exactly, but Im not really bothered by it. Its so chill y'know, I cant hate him..

    :)

  • He does that very expensive guitar a load of musical justice, lets be honest,

Also the pianist is channeling McCoy T

  • I can hear george bensons's influence here

  • Yes Benson but for some reason I enjoy Oberg's improvisation more. He is my favorite so far 2nd to Wes Montgomery.

  • This guy is insane. He should get more publicity.

  • the pianist is awesome too. what's his name?

  • Marian Petrescu

  • Andreas is always amazing and this performance is no exception! The suprise here is the keyboardist! At first glance I wasn't expecting such a hip cat!=} Gr8 phrasing and choice of notes by all!! Thanks for posting this!

    Regards,R~

  • you should look some more into petrescu's playing then, he's definitely one of the coolest cats, gets repetitive at times, but always fun to listen to!

  • Habisztiiiiii! XD

  • they are not humans!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 4:31

    - The Girl From Ipanema?! :D

  • Nice playing from this white gypsy

  • is not gypsy

  • HAHAHAHAHA xD

  • Jazzkat i think.....but what guitar is that?

  • Comment removed

  • Andreas the best of you Generation

  • Sounds like he stole every lick he could from Brent Mason. Very nice playing anyway.

  • a little bit of Tom Jobim on the piano solo.

  • super !!!

  • Great playing as always. Now, it's time for originality. Oberg will deliver!

    Truth is positive!

    NYC

  • its called Le Q Theme

  • AWESOME !! Kind Regard Laszlo Sirsom Australia

  • Beautiful

    O O

    ____

  • I wish the uploader would remove the video and upload it again, only because we cant download it. When you download this, its all jumbly and warped...i asked everyone i know to download it and test it and every1 had the same issues, something is wrong with the upload for sure

  • smooth

  • this version is better than his studio version in my opinion...

  • Anderas Oberg is amazing; a mixed of the great George Benson and Bireli Lagrene.

  • technically, but i think musically he's nothing compared to them, especially to george benson.

  • Look at is this way, Benson wouldnt be able to jam with Andreas unless its his own style being played, Andreas sits with the best guitar players of many styles and jams...and usually plays much nicer and more tastefully than they do.

  • Man do I hate comments like yours. How can you talk about Benson and Oberg in the same breath.Benson is a Master.Oberg is a master immitator, which is no mean feat in itself!

  • Just give him a few years you know... ;)

  • 7:58 , 'au privave' , Oscar Peterson.

  • Andreas is definitely one of my favorite jazz players. I love how the piano players quotes "Girl from Ipanema" at 4:29.

  • and just before that, he quoted Corcovado.

  • Great to see Marian Petrescu play with such a taste. He may be the no 1 jazz pianist in the world technically, but sometimes his executions are terrible. Like some vidoes here on youtube where he just pointlessly beats the piano up.

  • He's shown drastic improvment over the last few years, not many others can say they are in the top few best guitar players alive today...Andreas can...

  • This is on the DVD included with Andreas' new album "My Favorite Guitars". The whole disc is superb!

  • What song is this?

  • "Le Q Theme" from his "Young Jazz Guitarist" album

  • By the way, this video is fantastic! O_O

  • "rising star" ?...baloney...he's already there
