i dont get how mara jade can be an actual star wars charcter because the thrawn triolgy began and ended before star wars return of the jedi and you would of thought that instead of the phantom menace,attack of the clones and the clone wars he would have made a movie based on mara,luke and ben

I think the reason why some people don't like Mara's death is how it goes back to how Timothy Zahn described Luke's past relationships. They all ended in tragedy and I believe that he intended Mara to be a sort of...end to the stream of tragedy.

I'm not saying I liked that she died, certainly not, it sucks to a high degree. Zahn didn't like that she died either because it was HIS character. However, for a plot purpose, it served well.

I haven't read any of the new SW books, I stopped after the NJO series, which could have been half the length. The new books are just milking the franchise and I refuse to dump money into them. In fact most of the EU books are garbage, KJA nearly ruined it, only the Thawn books were any good. If they were going to make an Episode 7 8 and 9, it should be the Thrawn books.

Hey I just finished reading Sacrifice and let me say I'm not a happy camper.

I think that to me they just killed Star Wars along with the Character of Mara Jade Skywalker, and as if that weren't bad enough but not only did they not get Zahn to do it but they did it in such a way that it felt CHEAP & RUSHED.

I cryed when that happen I cussed and everything I could not believe it. The could have at least giving Zahn the creator of the charter the rights to do it you know what I am saying repsonded please I want to see if any body feels how I feel.

I think that if they had to kill either Mara and/or Luke then they should have had Zahn do it, and that the only proper way for them to die would have been together, fighting something overwhelming side by side, you know very epic, meaningful, romantic and powerful.

That's death, man: not everyone's going to go out in a blaze of glory. If everyone in the series died an epic death, then it would cheapen the whole epic death concept; kind of like the whole "if everyone is special then no one is special" notion.

And speaking of powerful, I've spent the last couple of hours just looking at fan films and the like and I've seen several Tributes to Mara, and while I did like a few of them, and one other is very good, I found this one to be the Very good, and powerful, for a sense of senseless loss of the great character Mara Jade Skywalker.

I was and still am shocked by what happened..I actually cried when I heard that Mara was killed,and by Jacen who was one of my favorite characters.But what makes me angrier is the fact that not only is she killed but they also perform an Autopsy on her,autopsies to me are a desecration of the human body so I was FURIOUS when I heard that

Actually, in the Star Wars universe autopsies can be performed using imaging and hologram techniques. Considering that Mara held a spark of life for a week in order to stave decay so she could dissolve into the Force, and that it was performed in a state of the art facility on Coruscant, I'd say this type of autopsy was likely performed.

It was sad, but characters do die, and Mara's time was up. It wasn't a decision made lightly. Besides, she might come back as a force ghost, given the way her body dissolved into the force.

Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker. I think she is also a freind of Master Kyle Katarn who is an X-imperial commander who left the empirer. He became a jedi after that and protect of the vally of the jedi taking his fathers place and killing Jerac.

I always hated Jacen, I thought of him as weak, and now it seems like he let his weakness turn him to the Dark side. I hope they kill him off in the most painful way. Mara Jade was my favorite character.

I cried too, I was so surprised, cause I haven't read the New Jedi Order nor any of the Legacy books. I live in Yemen which isn't big on Western books. I had my mom bring the Thrawn trilogy with her from the US when she came to visit.

I started to try to collect the NJO books before I moved but there was so many of them and so little time and extra money. I usually search for summaries or go on Wiki to see what I am missing in the Star Wars Universe.

It just about broke my heart. I watched that kid (Jacen) grow up and now he kills a lady I was really getting to respect. She irritated me with her attitude to Kyp but she was gutsy, smart and in the end let Kyp be what he should have been in the first place - an ally and a friend.
