Yes but it's better to use the BIS version becouse you will have allsoo the firewall protection, and another great thing it's that you can disable this antivirus proceses only in safe mod. This is an protection so a virus can not disable bitdefender. And still in top 10, bitdefender 2010 it's above kaspersky.

with PC Tools Firewall Plus it will alert u to an application that tries to hide itself from the task manager.. I uninstalled a program and PCTFP told me it was trying to hide processes from the task manager another time it told me a program was trying to write itself to several locations after uninstalling

Guys learn it... BitDefender DOESNT suck. Gamers version has the game mode so it doesnt interfere with any game. I have it and no slow down... My BitDefender caught Sr.Vundo trying to enter my pc and it got stopped ^^ Leanr it either you like or not Bit Defender is one of the BEST PAID ANTIVIRUS!

I use BitDefender while playing games and I do not see a performance decrease.Some games I play are MMO's and online FPS. I also put Bitdefender in GAMEMODE...From my use of BitDefender it has work just fine.

FYI if you have purchased BitDefender 2009 you can download the same version of BitDefender 2010 for free. Its a free upgrade with your current account. I have had few issues with BitDefender, the newer version 2010 addressed them all.

it only hurts things if you have two like Norton and Bit defender i had i a problem when i didn't want to remove trend micro and i had a problem after log on that not tasks would start but a system restore and reinstalling bit with removing trend and i would never switch back

I know someone who got Bitdefender + Superantispyware Pro (Paid version) and Vundo blitzed past BOTH apps and screwed with her machine. She had 2 get Combofix to rid herself of the problem. Has Bitdefender 2009 got firewall in it?

The Bitdefender 2009 user interface reminds somewhat of Norton and McAfee as some of the settings you can change with the drop down menus are like Nortons and the Bitdefender 2009 popup Dialog box where it tells you what it blocks reminds me of McAfee!

If you look in ur taskbar, u can see something like "seccenter.exe" im pretty sure that was the name of one of ur viruses

BitDefender is good BUT... beware if you try to uninstall. If you have Vista, after you uninstall it will prolly give you alerts saying bitdefender is not turned on, when in fact it should be gone period. ...Which I have NEVER seen on vista with antivirus software. Not with panda, norton, mcafee, or kaspersky on vista. You go and download Bitdefender's uninstaller, and run it. I ran it-received 3-4 blue screens of death. I know when I've been hosed... I wouldn't be here at 6am if I wasn't.

@godale44: Internet Security has a firewall included. Antivirus doesn't.

@123456iambelial: Somehow BD detects a full screen usage (are u using firefox in fullscreen?). You can go to Game Mode\ Laptop Mode in advanced view -> manage game and add firefox without a check in that list. Next time it will be ignored.

I have Vista OS and Bitdefender Internet Security 2009. My problem is whenever I opened Firefox3, the game mode turned on. So, I manually turned the game mode off. Does any one know how to fix this?

Srarting to lose respect for this guy . cause these antivirus softwares are leaving stuff behind and hes given it the thumbs up saying that got rid of everything . theres people who use spyware doctor and kaspersky and bit defender who have infections that none of these can fix just go to bleepingcomputer and look in hijack this forum. but acording to mrizos spyware doctor and kaspersky gets rid of everything there is every time . just look at his desktop background its infected

I agree for Kaspersky...but not with Spyware Doctor. That thing is a terrible productor of false positives. It may have a good signature detection but cannot do a thing against new threats. Kaspersky has heuristic and Behavioural detection(HIPS) which makes it better than Spyware Doctor. I look forward tests of F-Secure 2009 and G-DATA 2009(when it's out)

I use both. KAV and Spyware Doctor With Antivirus. Spyware Doctor With Antivirus is just a personal favorite of mine...just a preference.

@mrizos: I hope that you don't have spyware doctor's protection on, because they conflict. Also, have you tried Superantispyware? It runs perfect with Kaspersky, and it will catch everything that Kav may miss. And it also uses very very low RAM and CPU

@ironsheik: I don't know about Spyware Doctor and I personally don't like it, but Kaspersky just can deal with everything, more than any other antivirus. Anything that kaspersky may miss by signature is detected either by heuristics, Proactive Defense or HIPS. All those cases you see in bleepingcomputer etc. are either because the uers use the 7.0 version, or because they had the 2009 in automatic mode. There are cases when it's difficult for kav to remove something, but that's what AVZ is for.

Thanks so much for the great reviews keep them going, i promise i will watch every one. I have always found testing antimalware very interesting. I have a combination of Avira Antivir 8 free and Ad-aware free. First off tell me what u think of this combination. Second, my Ad-aware found a root kit in a scan that Antivir did not, so I would love it if you could review Ad-aware as one of your root kit removers.
