  • Yes but no Grammy

  • This sounds like this pressing has more reverb than the

    posting elsewhere here.

  • You just can't beat an old 78 for letting the tonearm dance with the rythm! You blew me away with this unexpected beauty of a 78 and the lovely "record player"! How utterly sweet! Here's another one who played it over and over when it came out. My girlfriend had a copy. We turned out to be lifetime friends. What a wonderful presentation you have offered.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! Floydian (Thad)

  • My dance partner and I actually danced a Cha cha cha routine to this record back in the early 60's. Practically wore it out.

  • OH! you still have this ditty on 78's Awesome! thanks for posting Love the vinyl

  • @chenwenhua2269 This is an old 78 rpm record....they were made out of a hard material...not vinyl. They were so hard that they could shatter like glass. Maybe this is a vinyl reproduction, but vinyl was used beginning in the 50's and 60's.

  • YAWN!

  • Tea for two is it.! Its the song that never sounds bad.

  • A wonderful posting!

T-4-2 was written by Vincent Youmans for the 1920's musical, "No No Nanette". It later became a common song for Vaudevillian dancers who performed the soft-shoe.

Tommy Dorsey died in 1956, choking on food while he slept. Warren Covington, a trombonist in the Dorsey band, is featured in this 1958 cha-cha recording of Mr. Youman's song. Latin rhythms like the mambo & cha cha were very popular dances in the 50's.

  • @pgh45rpms Apparently, this song was also used in a WB cartoon "Show Biz Bugs" with Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck where they both tapped danced on stage. This short was released in 1957, just a year prior to that when that song was later became a hit in cha-cha form. I also have the LP which is on a US Decca label.

  • Hi! Liz, it's me again. This souldn't be, "Tea for Two Cha, Cha ,Cha"?

I remember "Cha, Cha Cha" being the name for that rhythm in the late '50s, but label reads only "Tea for Two Cha, Cha"!

A "Cha" is missing! If you know something please let me know! Cheers!

Don't have to tell you again you've got what you deserve: 5 Stars, Favorites list, Records & Turntables list, and all my thanks and love. ET.

  • Hi ET. Love all your lovely comments. On U2B, you can only put a word in once in the Tags bit....so it's only one 'cha'!. xLiz
