In the remake, Master D was Hitler, but the game didn't give it away that easily. All they did was hinted that he was Hitler and called him The Leader. If you ask me, I think that was a smart move by Grin. And since the remake has a OFLC M rating, then they would get away with it. Wolfenstein 3D had Nazi's and Hitler labelled all over the place, but it was a MA rated game, and it was mainly for the PC, so they got away with it too. Anyway, great job Dommiesan!
I wonder if they omitted the jump command because they only had 2 buttons. I played this a while ago and I have to say I couldn't get over the hole not being able to jump thing.
i used to play the shit outta this when i was a kid.. and yeah they might have changed hitler's name but they left the graphic in at the end you do get to kill him.. even as a kid i could tell who it was
I've played the rearmed version is hell'a fun. Haven't you beaten it because its really not that hard expect the end and if you play on easy it becomes a lot easier.
Ahhhh... another great classic... truly an original and innovative game for the NES... still one of my favorites... thanks Dommie!!!
Hey, by any chance could you maybe also review the Gameboy Color version?... the small screen made it kinda blew, but it was pretty good semi-sequel to this one....
"bionic commando?" please. "top secret hitler's revival." now there is a title!
awesome, awesome game. in my top five ever for the NES. a real beauty.

How is it offensive to normal people to kill waves of Nazis?

The old skool Wolfenstein 3-D got away with fighting crazy nazis and even hitler in a bionic suit! :D ahhhh good times.

I played Bionic Commando in Arcades 1st as a tyke. After that, the NES version just couldn't hold my attention.

Good review. With Hitler they only sort of took him out in the non JP versions. Beat the game and you'll see what I mean.
