I had an 09 37s. stock it his 162 and blew out my stock exhaust in the process i spent 7K under the hood and hit 188 on the GPS - the car was fine at that speed.
@pakilodi theres no way that g37 touches 170, my charger srt8 is max at 174. and by no means is the g37 faster than a srt8. its a great car dont get me wrong.
@cuts2thebone you have a 4,000 lbs car. the srt-8 is a good engine but its not goo enough to make up for that weight. the g37 is much lighter and doesn't need that extra HP to be faster than your car. I don't think it could hit 170 but in a straight line from 0-150 the g would outrun your car every time. I have a modded up 04 maxima that dusts the hemi chargers all day. i may have 123 HP less than you but i am 1000lbs lighter than you. which makes more difference than 123 HP.

all i know is what i've experience first hand. i am faster than a dodge charger v8, and the g37 is faster than me. so i put two and two together. i don't believe for one second the charger does 0-60 in under 5 seconds, if this were true than i wouldn't stand a chance. i have no problem with cars being faster than my slow ass grocery getter, and im not going to sit here and lie, what i know is what i've seen with my own two eyes, and paper isnt matching up with reality here.

Its more like 5.6-5.8 seconds. this is a well known fact that dodge fibbed a bit on their marketing specs. if u type the words "why does dodge lie about charger 0-60 times" you will see others charger owners wondering the same question. i wouldn't doubt a fully modded maxima could take a dodge to about 100mph after than the v8 would probably take over.

Why does everyone say going over 150mph is suicide in the G37S? The S has tires rated at 180mph for at least 15 minutes.

Just traded my 2008 Blue Slate S for a 2011 Liquid Platinum version. Better electronics and sonar added but car is basicallyl unchanged as it is a great car as it is.
@lairdriver I did it with a radar detector and the roads were completly opened, if i would of passed/weaved thru some cars i would of easily been able to do 180.. But damn i love m5's haha. Glad i dont live in canada

@08turboSS well ino for a fact that they have a good amount left in them at the 155 limiter, and you may say that video games dont accurately represent the cars perfectly but in both forza 3 as well as GT5 a stock g37 gets above 170. in forza 172, in gt5 173. its the .27 drag coefficient :)

Point is, the engine doesn't fire off, revs drop 100-200 then pick up again. The sound, accurately described, is "bouncing off the rev limiter." Going to a place your car shouldn't go isn't a great idea. Your power band probably necesitates shifting before this point.

BS my friend, show us the road. at the beginning you can see that the speed is not going down even though the clutch is not engaged and the car is rolling down, and the reason why you rolled 5 miles over the limiter is because your engine's power mixed with gravity gave it a little extra roll. the limiter cuts the power at a certain speed, it doesnt stop the car by applying the brakes
I've pegged my '08 G37 twice, and it only hit 141mph! It hit 5th gear at about 135mph, was still climbing hard, then peaked at 141! It honestly felt governed. I know it has plenty of power left, but won't go any faster! What do you think gives? And yes, I use good fuel. (only 91 octane though, 93 is not available in Wichita, KS)

Well the G37's are the new G35's so if your looking for more power G37 is the way to go but if not then G35. Both cars are amazing so which ever one you choose im sure you will be happy.
g37 has a basically a new g35 the name is just different because of the new engine they put in it a 3.7L the only car that get's the 3.5's now is maximas i think
It will not do 170 i had a 92 vr-4 with 405 to the wheels and it did 191 max with one person in the car low fuel they must limit that car due to a stability issue my uncle has it for 30,000 its nice but its 4000# with two guys in the car my vr-4 was 4300# i wasnt inpressed when i drove it
with three people in a 08 g37 we couldnt get it over 150 and if there was no wind resistance i can drive my pick up to 200mph but it is limited and for some reason most companys put speed limiters for either tire speeds or a major stability issue dont get me wrong i love the car but 170mph a new z-06 505hp 3300# 198mph stock and thats 500ft tq also the stock 405 hp vette is in the 170 range

I think this car well do 170 mph. Its packin 330Hp . My camaro was like 320 it hit 170 mph. The g37t does 13.4 in quater v8 camaro ss did 13.2

I've pegged my '08 G37 twice, and it only hit 141mph! It hit 5th gear at about 135mph, was still climbing hard, then peaked at 141! It honestly felt governed. I know it has plenty of power left, but won't go any faster! What do you think gives? And yes, I use good fuel. (only 91 octane though, 93 is not available in Wichita, KS)

Embarassingly, it's an auto. Salesman talked me into it. I went to purchase the stick, and I let some the salesman tell me how great the sport paddles are. I NEVER USE THEM! I could kick myself for listening to a saleman who probably drives an '82 Camaro Berlinetta.

i got this on a drive home from DC, so it was all highway.
are you using 93 octane and getting fuel from a good gas station like shell exxon etc? try changing brands. might help.

You're right! you could only reach 180 if your g was chipped, and even then, reaching 180 would be a struggle for the g37

All wheel drive actually takes over when accelerating in some models then drops to rear. the 6mt is rear and is the best performance-wise

Well the G37's are the new G35's so if your looking for more power G37 is the way to go but if not then G35. Both cars are amazing so which ever one you choose im sure you will be happy.

definitely possible. if you look for alberto's twin turbo 350z, he removed the limiter and he hit 173 at around 7000 rpm before he got off the gas

It will not do 170 i had a 92 vr-4 with 405 to the wheels and it did 191 max with one person in the car low fuel they must limit that car due to a stability issue my uncle has it for 30,000 its nice but its 4000# with two guys in the car my vr-4 was 4300# i wasnt inpressed when i drove it

with three people in a 08 g37 we couldnt get it over 150 and if there was no wind resistance i can drive my pick up to 200mph but it is limited and for some reason most companys put speed limiters for either tire speeds or a major stability issue dont get me wrong i love the car but 170mph a new z-06 505hp 3300# 198mph stock and thats 500ft tq also the stock 405 hp vette is in the 170 range

I have a G37S. I know the limter kicks in at 155mph but do you know the top speed of the G37S without the electronic limit?
Also, were you in 5th or 6th gear when you hit 150?

i think 3rd ends at 100ish and 4th at 120ish. dont remember really
