At this point, I think the only way to salvage this operation is to suck it up and do the Airport extension. I still imagine, when they announced this thing, the vision I had for this (albeit, a hugely more costly plan): A monorail that would take you straight to casino main lobbies, actually over LV Blvd, and eventuallly connecting Airport-Strip-Downtown. As said, would've cost a lot more. But it would certainly be more viable than today's Monorail is.
From an Urban Planning perspective; this monorail is really a waste. It's so poorly designed and tucked so far in the back of things and then only goes to part of the strip.
@halifaxboyns It would be more useful to travelers if it went to the airport. It would then be the cheapest (and probably fastest and most reliable) way to get to your hotel on The Strip from McCarran.
I think it's pretty amusing that in this video the monorail has "VEGAS" on an arrow pointing towards the right, but when the train starts moving it goes towards the left instead...that's funny to me.
@gocheapvegas Watching to see what a big deal the Las Vegas Monorail is. So far, I am just okay with it. The monorail system doesn't reflect the grand splendour of the city of Las Vegas, it looks so... normal.
I remember when this used to be free, and just went from the MGM Grand to Bally's - 2003. It's amazing to see how it has grown since then.

They are planning it.

@jamesbondsv Cab drivers probably are totally against the idea, lol. I think they should just expand it to the airport.

I went in 2006 and it had a different sound and voice for the closing doors. I went again in 2008 and it sounded like this.
