I don't know about that. It's a very very good cover, but Kenny did an amazing job with it. The one thing the Killers lack is the desperation and sadness that Kenny really put into it...since you know, the song is very desperate and sad. Only complaint though. Kenny Rogers wrote a beautiful song, and the Killers paid great tribute.

Yeah, but I think the Killers were trying to take it in another direction and that the lack of emotion was intentional. There is no desperation in Brandon's voice, not just a half assed attempt at it. I think it's meant to be a little ironic. The lyrics make you think the man should be desperate, but he's very reserved about it.

CAKEs version showed no desperation. The Killers cover is in the middle between Kenny and CAKE.

The song is meant to be very very desperate, I just think Brandon failed to deliver the most important part of the song like Kenny did. Brandon was going for more of a frustrated depressed feeling perhaps. I mean, the song is based off of a murder suicide anyway.
