Hey man, I've a similar problem. but this is when trying to uninstall vmware workstation 8. I can’t find workstation 8 in the control panel, and I know I've uninstalled it. If I run the setup for vmware workstation 8, it says that there is already another vmware product installed on the system. (Or something like that). And when I press uninstall it says: “The MSI '' failed.”.
@blacksnakescult thanks man, my computer got a virus and i cleared it out through that, but that may help other people I will make that the description

1) Open Regedit
2) Use search option to find "vmware workstation.exe"
3) Delete the parent key (containing "C:\Users\SMROCK~1\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware_1308781033\vmware workstation.exe")
4) Install VMvare (the MSI error will appear few times but the installation should success)
