guys? its the smashing pumpkins, right? what's the title of the song again? forgot it. =s am not familiar with the dc version but i am pretty certain this flick will be a hit.
I wonder if they'll set it in the 80's like the comics with more of a 'What If?' type of theme to it or in the present or near future for more of an 'Escape From New York/LA' theme.
If they do the latter I'll be interested to hear the new story behind the doomsday clock.
Any Thoughts???
PS Nite owl Rorsarch comedian and silk spectre all look GREAT!
Some things are better left alone. I'm not saying I won't watch the film, but I really, really hope it doesn't affect the way I think about the novel. Like Titanic did. Seriously. Titanic ruined my life. And in this fantasy world I live in that includes novels made before EVERY film, um.. damn two for one night.
This whole "better left alone" thing is just silly. If you allow a movie to effect the way you think about the book(or ruin your life whatever that means) that's your fault. This movie should have NO effect on they way people see the book, and will in fact just bring more readers to the book in the long run. Not to mention that the movie might just be awesome!
There's still about a million ways in which they can fuck this movie up but so far from the teaser it looks like they haven't. Still, there's a long time to go.
VforVendetta,The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,Constantine and now Watchmen, hollywood fuck everything, shit, what cant they continue violating the stan lee legacy and dont fuck the others great histories xD?
they should have left it untouched...i'm not sure of how it is possible to depict the tragedy and the melancholy these heroes carry on the screen...bollocks-it's not supposed to be amovie...u can't always translate everything to money...unless it leads to another v for vendetta which was actually better than i expected-even though i haven't read yet the graphic novel...anyway,i will insist-KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF THE MASTERPIECES,U WILL SPOIL THEM.BUY THE GRAPHIC NOVEL NOW!!!
The book is fantastic, it just blew me away when I read it for the first time 15 years ago. It is a great novel. If the movie is a quarter as good as the Novel it will be AWESOME.
well my friend I really hope snyder knows what he's doing, but as far as I'm concern,, watchmen movie-big fucking mistake, Alan Moore doesn't need any more headackes...
I will enjoy the movie, but not because it will be like watching a graphic novel. It's a movie, and going into it with realistic expectations will prevent any disappointment. Unless the movie sucks in and of itself, lol
And no matter what people keep saying about the Batman & Robin movie sucking and ruining this song- this song fits this trailer soooo well it doesn't even matter.
I've never been too interested in Watchmen to look it up or read it but now I definitely will do some research and I anticipate going to see this movie.
By the way, as soon as I saw this trailer last night I was hooked on this song. <3 (and The Dark Knight was AMAZING)
i saw this trailer at the dark knight (IMAX), and it looks badass, the chick looks sexy also. oh and the song is by smashing pumpkins, its called The End is The Beginning is the End.
are u kidding me, this movie is going to suck man, the director from 300, is like the worst filmaker in the world, thei are going to ruin the greatest graphic novel ever made
will see, I don't trust this director, I think he has no talent at all, so,, nothing personal, as what it coul concern to the graphic novel, I belive is the greatest work by Alan Moore, and is a story that shouldn'y be put into the screen
kurono,i'm so fucking glad that some people, not to say most of the people, are strictly opposite to the idea of cinema/graphic novel fusion...in Watchmen, heroes are so broken,so multi-layered and so tragically involved in the story as it evolves which makes the movie an emotional handicap...sorry if i'm talking like an expert but at least i'm glad we agree on this part...have a nice day
true man, there has been only one exeption where the comic book or graphic novel has been overthrow by film and that's Christopher Nolan's Batman begins and The Dark Knight, no more, and that's because the filmaker is beyond talent and experience, in this case, the watchmen is alooot more complex than batman, and the filmaker, well, if you have seen snyder's work you will se he's just bad.

Of course I'm sure you'll just go see it with all your negative thoughts and then come out nit-picking every little flaw, thinking you were right all along. Really though, if you can't enjoy this movie it's YOUR falult. You decided you'd hate it long before you even saw it. LAME
you seem very confident by telling me not to go because the way I think of this film, but I think is very pathetic from you to think is gonna be the greatest movie ever, ja ja
I never said I think it's going to be the greatest movie ever, I said it MIGHT be. I say that because I know how good the story is. You know how good the story is yourself, and still you're acting as if you already know it's the worst movie ever. You havn't seen anything but a two minute clip of a few action shots. THAT is pathetic.
nop, it ain't, I never said it was going to be the worst movie ever, what I've said like four times alredy is that this movie can not be good because of the people that worked on it, Snyder and company are just spoil kids trying to seem like Pros, IN MY OPINION, The Watchmen is only meant to be a GRAPHIC NOVEL, and nothing else, this is the typical example of a guy who read the G.F and said: OH this is so cool, lets send a script and show them this pics, the W.B wont reject such a colorful idea,
Snyder didn't want to do the movie, he felt that it was something should not be made into a film. When it was offered to Snyder he felt that if he passed and the movie turned out bad that it would be his fault, since WB was going to make it anyway he decided to try to make it as close to the book as possible.
perhaps you think snyder is the shit but, honestly it doesn't matter who makes the movie, snyder, splieberg, resurrected Kubrick, the movie is gonna be bad because the story is meant to be told in a Graphic Novel and not in a film
don't get me wrong I love film media over all others, the thing is that once you transform the product of one to another, sometimes you just know is going to be good other times you know is the oposite, like in this case, because you only have 2 and a half hours/max to tell everything within the G.N, the quality is not going to be the same, imagine, the matrix book version, or G.N version, do you think it could be beter than the film?
is an oportunity to see a diferent visual prospective, yes, it would be cool to see the comedian's sadism in a movie, or the incredible powers of Manhattan, but the visual prospective is not what makes a movie, I think by seeing the two projects made by Snyder, that this could be a good lesson for him.
I think it is strange how many people think that Snyder is a great director. He's only made 2 movies that were decent, Watchmen trailer looks great, I don't think that means the movie will be great. At best Watchmen will be decent.
It is also strange how people start assuming someone thinks that Snyder is the shit because they liked one or both of his previous films.
that's right, in my point of view, dead was as you say "decent", and 300, well as a visual effects spectacle was cool and original, but as an artistic expresion, and as film-film, it was quite bad. as long as we have seen I agree with'ya, we can spect nothing but a "decent" movie.
I agree, he's nothing special. He manages to make two alright films and he's being called visionary? Both of the films are adaptations of someone elses work, how is it his vision?
Give Moore a BJ why don't ya. (I hope you know i'm kidding.) But give the film a chance judge it by the standards you would judge a film by, not a graphic novel. No, it won't be as good as the GN but it can still be good movie.
wtf is it with you and the jaja? calm the fuck down cool guy, we get it your cool so you laugh after things you say cuz you think your superior, we better shut up because this cool guys is going to show us a thing or two, fuck this movie because some random geek is telling us it should be left as a graphic novel, we get it you dont think its going to be good, but your still here trolling disagreeing with anyone who sais other wise, and dont bother commenting back to me because i wont read it.
You obviously have never played Metal Gear Solid 3.
And Alan Moore himself, who ADAMANTLY opposes the adaptation of Watchmen, even admitted that Hayter's script was as close as he could imagine anyone getting to Watchmen.
ja ja you fool, first of all, the script guy only made a FUCKING VOICE in M.G, and second, well, Snyder... "Down of the dead", "300" WOOOW, what an amazing authority on the scriptwriting bussines, ja ja ja give me a fucking breack, ja ja
And you think Hayter didn't pick up JACK SHIT from that game he worked in? That he just somehow provided his voice without knowing a god damn thing about the script? You obviously don't know anything about it.
Snyder doesn't have a lot of works to claim for right now. This could be his first really good movie. Looks very faithful to the source material so far.
if you really wake up and watch the truth you would know that snyder is a 43 year old looser who likes to play arround with visual effects, and you would know that the script writer was picked up for the mgs voice because he manage to have the best voice betwen other stupids that wanted that same job, that's fucking it
the league of extraordinary gentleman was a great graphic novel, and it was turn into a very mediocre film, they bearly saved Vfor Vendetta because it was produced by a very proffesional crew, and a disciplined director, from hell was a good graphic novel turned into a very bad film, I think THEY SHOULD HAVE LEAVE WATCHMEN IN PEACE, even Alan Moore has said that,,, this may seem very cinematic, but is not,, is a graphic novel, that is meantobe a only graphic novel.
If we're all lucky this is the one they'll actually get right and save. What bothers me is after the first disaster From Hell, nobody bothered to learn from their mistakes. If anything things got worse, I mean the LXG is one of the greatest graphic novels ever written and they basically pissed on a Piscasso. They got the potential but I'm afraid this will be all frosting and no cake.
well I have to tell you that, even when the movie V for Vendetta did not achive the philosophical level thet the graphic novel achived, it seemed to me a very impressive and colorfull movie, what I am concerned about The Watchmen is that the graphic novel is like 5 times more complex than V, and it could be impossible to set the whole theme into a movie,, not even the basic idea without blowing the art out of the source.
I don't get the anger that some of you have for this movie. First, it looks AWESOME. But even if the movie turns out badly, it will be great to see these characters come alive on the big screen, and it won't hurt the book in anyway. You can always go back and enjoy the graphic novel again. So what's the fuss? Why is it bad to make a movie? It might actually turn out great.
it will hurt the graphic novel because there will be millions of guys who haven't seen the G.N and will say what the fuck was that shit!,, or that's it?,,,, (in the case is a bad movie),,, Alan Moore didn't want his name on the credits for no reason
Oh come on. Most likely, more people will end up reading the Graphic Novel then ever before. The book speaks for itself. Seriously, is anyone who decides not to read the book because of a movie, such a big loss? Alan Moore didn't want his name on the credits because some of his other work turned out bad, understandable. However, this movie still might be awesome, but if it's not it wont hurt the book in anyway.
I think is going to be a very colorfull spetacle, the same way that 300, that's all, snyder lacks in making a movie a work of art, he is a show man, I mean look at the trailer,, 0:12, do you want me to belive this guy is in the 40's?, 0:59,, do you want me to think that the suit of juspecsyk is from the 70's and 80's?, 1:12, well, belive me that's the most fake vietnam I've ever seen, man this goes on and on,, look at the comedian, he's a kid, the most belivable character is like rorschach,,,
Most of the scenes in this clip look to be taken directly from the book. The Viet Nam scenes aren't meant to look "real" they're flash backs from a comic, and that's what they look like. The things you mentioned have really nothing to do with the story anyway. I'm actually pleasantly surprised to see they've included the Viet Nam scenes period. Looks like they're heading in the right direction, telling more of the background story then I'd expect them to be able to tell in a 2 hour time frame.
Oh, and Doc. Manhatten's origin didn't take place in the 40's. It was in 1959, the guy in the clip at 0:12 fits in fine. Maybe you should go read the Graphic Novel again, instead of spending so much time nit-picking this 2 minute clip of a movie you havn't yet seen.
you should go and see the graphic novel again and tell me if the guy looks like osterman,I just had to see this to know that the movie is going to be a visual effects spectacle and no more, the watchmen probably may seem very cinematic, but it really isn't, the story is made to fit in the graphic novel genere and that's it,I'm sure they can put the background story in a very colorful way, but there is a difference between beliving this by reading a comic book than by watching it on the screen
Huh? That really made no sense at all. Does the actor look like Osterman? Hrmph, close enough. What effect does that have on the story? You're judging the entire movie on a two minute clip of a few action scenes? Give me a break. Yeah it does look like a visual spectacle, that's GOOD. You're in no position to say whether or not it's "more" then that. If they follow the story, it will be. If you can't "believe it" just because it's a movie, that's your hangup.
Of course I care, I want it to be the best movie I've ever seen. I damn sure don't want it to suck. The problem here is that you think you can tell if it's good based on a two minute clip, you can't. You don't have a clue. Seems to me you're sabotaging the film in your mind before you even see it. Besides, like I said, IF it does suck, oh well. Opportunity lost. It wont effect the greatness of the Novel at all.
pff, I hope so, I just got some info abou the movie, and it seems that the script wasn't made by snyder,, that could be a good start, it doesn't give me the greatest hope of my life but it could mean something
la cancion se llama "The End Is The Beginning Is The End" y la toca smashing pumpkins, tambien esa cancion es soundtrack de la pelicula batman y robin

It is also strange how people start assuming someone thinks that Snyder is the shit because they liked one or both of his previous films.
Cozenlee 3 years ago
that's right, in my point of view, dead was as you say "decent", and 300, well as a visual effects spectacle was cool and original, but as an artistic expresion, and as film-film, it was quite bad. as long as we have seen I agree with'ya, we can spect nothing but a "decent" movie.
kurono1999 3 years ago
I agree, he's nothing special. He manages to make two alright films and he's being called visionary? Both of the films are adaptations of someone elses work, how is it his vision?
SavageHenry78 3 years ago
Give Moore a BJ why don't ya. (I hope you know i'm kidding.) But give the film a chance judge it by the standards you would judge a film by, not a graphic novel. No, it won't be as good as the GN but it can still be good movie.
SavageHenry78 3 years ago
well, let's wait for it then. by the way, that critic about the "visionary" title was very good, ja ja
kurono1999 3 years ago
OK. Thanks.
SavageHenry78 3 years ago
wtf is it with you and the jaja? calm the fuck down cool guy, we get it your cool so you laugh after things you say cuz you think your superior, we better shut up because this cool guys is going to show us a thing or two, fuck this movie because some random geek is telling us it should be left as a graphic novel, we get it you dont think its going to be good, but your still here trolling disagreeing with anyone who sais other wise, and dont bother commenting back to me because i wont read it.
xenogamerx 3 years ago
ja ja you bloody stupid, I just tell my opinion, you are just commenting your useless shit,
kurono1999 3 years ago
You obviously have never played Metal Gear Solid 3.
And Alan Moore himself, who ADAMANTLY opposes the adaptation of Watchmen, even admitted that Hayter's script was as close as he could imagine anyone getting to Watchmen.
SpinalTree 3 years ago
ja ja you fool, first of all, the script guy only made a FUCKING VOICE in M.G, and second, well, Snyder... "Down of the dead", "300" WOOOW, what an amazing authority on the scriptwriting bussines, ja ja ja give me a fucking breack, ja ja
kurono1999 3 years ago
And you think Hayter didn't pick up JACK SHIT from that game he worked in? That he just somehow provided his voice without knowing a god damn thing about the script? You obviously don't know anything about it.
Snyder doesn't have a lot of works to claim for right now. This could be his first really good movie. Looks very faithful to the source material so far.
SpinalTree 3 years ago
if you really wake up and watch the truth you would know that snyder is a 43 year old looser who likes to play arround with visual effects, and you would know that the script writer was picked up for the mgs voice because he manage to have the best voice betwen other stupids that wanted that same job, that's fucking it
kurono1999 3 years ago
300 was good
DrMlieko 3 years ago
Same with the graphic novel. The movie 300 was a good adaptation of a mediocre graphic novel, and was a mediocre movie.
A good adaptation of a great graphic novel like Watchmen, would be a great movie. I think this will work quite well.
SeymoreOmnis 3 years ago
the league of extraordinary gentleman was a great graphic novel, and it was turn into a very mediocre film, they bearly saved Vfor Vendetta because it was produced by a very proffesional crew, and a disciplined director, from hell was a good graphic novel turned into a very bad film, I think THEY SHOULD HAVE LEAVE WATCHMEN IN PEACE, even Alan Moore has said that,,, this may seem very cinematic, but is not,, is a graphic novel, that is meantobe a only graphic novel.
kurono1999 3 years ago
If we're all lucky this is the one they'll actually get right and save. What bothers me is after the first disaster From Hell, nobody bothered to learn from their mistakes. If anything things got worse, I mean the LXG is one of the greatest graphic novels ever written and they basically pissed on a Piscasso. They got the potential but I'm afraid this will be all frosting and no cake.
Cavillier1970 3 years ago
well I have to tell you that, even when the movie V for Vendetta did not achive the philosophical level thet the graphic novel achived, it seemed to me a very impressive and colorfull movie, what I am concerned about The Watchmen is that the graphic novel is like 5 times more complex than V, and it could be impossible to set the whole theme into a movie,, not even the basic idea without blowing the art out of the source.
kurono1999 3 years ago
I don't get the anger that some of you have for this movie. First, it looks AWESOME. But even if the movie turns out badly, it will be great to see these characters come alive on the big screen, and it won't hurt the book in anyway. You can always go back and enjoy the graphic novel again. So what's the fuss? Why is it bad to make a movie? It might actually turn out great.
spymaster2 3 years ago
it will hurt the graphic novel because there will be millions of guys who haven't seen the G.N and will say what the fuck was that shit!,, or that's it?,,,, (in the case is a bad movie),,, Alan Moore didn't want his name on the credits for no reason
kurono1999 3 years ago
Oh come on. Most likely, more people will end up reading the Graphic Novel then ever before. The book speaks for itself. Seriously, is anyone who decides not to read the book because of a movie, such a big loss? Alan Moore didn't want his name on the credits because some of his other work turned out bad, understandable. However, this movie still might be awesome, but if it's not it wont hurt the book in anyway.
spymaster2 3 years ago
I think is going to be a very colorfull spetacle, the same way that 300, that's all, snyder lacks in making a movie a work of art, he is a show man, I mean look at the trailer,, 0:12, do you want me to belive this guy is in the 40's?, 0:59,, do you want me to think that the suit of juspecsyk is from the 70's and 80's?, 1:12, well, belive me that's the most fake vietnam I've ever seen, man this goes on and on,, look at the comedian, he's a kid, the most belivable character is like rorschach,,,
kurono1999 3 years ago
I guess he like to pull the same tricks
but it still seems to be worth watching
ps.
I actually think that the Silk Specter costume looks slightly 70s

kurono1999 3 years ago
Most of the scenes in this clip look to be taken directly from the book. The Viet Nam scenes aren't meant to look "real" they're flash backs from a comic, and that's what they look like. The things you mentioned have really nothing to do with the story anyway. I'm actually pleasantly surprised to see they've included the Viet Nam scenes period. Looks like they're heading in the right direction, telling more of the background story then I'd expect them to be able to tell in a 2 hour time frame.
spymaster2 3 years ago 2
Oh, and Doc. Manhatten's origin didn't take place in the 40's. It was in 1959, the guy in the clip at 0:12 fits in fine. Maybe you should go read the Graphic Novel again, instead of spending so much time nit-picking this 2 minute clip of a movie you havn't yet seen.
spymaster2 3 years ago 2
you should go and see the graphic novel again and tell me if the guy looks like osterman,I just had to see this to know that the movie is going to be a visual effects spectacle and no more, the watchmen probably may seem very cinematic, but it really isn't, the story is made to fit in the graphic novel genere and that's it,I'm sure they can put the background story in a very colorful way, but there is a difference between beliving this by reading a comic book than by watching it on the screen
kurono1999 3 years ago
If you can't "believe it" just because it's a movie, that's your hangup.
spymaster2 3 years ago 2
the thing is that perhaps you don't care if is a colorfull spectacle or a work of art, as long as you see watchmen in the screen, I do care.
kurono1999 3 years ago
Of course I care, I want it to be the best movie I've ever seen. I damn sure don't want it to suck. The problem here is that you think you can tell if it's good based on a two minute clip, you can't. You don't have a clue. Seems to me you're sabotaging the film in your mind before you even see it. Besides, like I said, IF it does suck, oh well. Opportunity lost. It wont effect the greatness of the Novel at all.
spymaster2 3 years ago 2
pff, I hope so, I just got some info abou the movie, and it seems that the script wasn't made by snyder,, that could be a good start, it doesn't give me the greatest hope of my life but it could mean something
