50 minute flight? for the 777? shit, i thought my 1hr and 10min flight with the A330-300 from stockholm to lulea was short! hahahhaa was it fully boarded?
Air Canada is not hiring... Your best bet would be with Jazz, but you will need to get flying hours and experience in other smaller companies before you can get in...
Actually they start you out anywhere and on any plane they need you! The starting salary is the same for the first 3 years at AC. You can start as a cruise pilot on long hauls or FO on the smaller planes...
Wow 20 years of building up a resume and flight hours? In those 20 years how much do you make flying short haul regional flights? 30K a year?
Im currently in university and was torn between commercial pilot and medicine, as i have great passion for both (more for pilot : )) But these stats are REALLY a disincentive
but then again if i REALLY loved flying, i probably wouldn't mind making that 30K a year doing what i love. But i do have to think about my future.
Haha, that's so funny, before I went the pilot route I was also in University, pre-dental. And you hit the nail on the head, if you want to be a pilot, there's no way around it, you have to build hours, but if you love the job, you won't mind. Follow your heart!
I'm about 10 hours away from finishing my CPL right now so I'll be looking for a job pretty quick. (fingers crossed) I started flight school and stopped University in my second year, people I talked to told me generally the younger you are the better when first staring flight school, so if you want to go the commercial pilot route don't delay for too long, that's what I was told anyways. I'm sure if you finished your degree that would help with getting hired though.
Actually the flights operated by this big one were not even half full. At first they just wanted the pilots to practice as many approaches take offs anf landings as possible before the 777 entered service on long hauls.
A regular Montreal-Toronto round trip ticket would cost you around 200$. I paid 25$ (I work for the company). I'm not sure if they still fly the 777 on this route....
He asked me a question and I answered. I don't think it's such a big deal. It's only an aproximate and a lot of people know how much we pay when we travel. C'est pas un drame!
And yes this plane still doing this route, he come from Paris ac871, and he's leaving to Toronto on the ac417 and then he come back to Montreal on the ac418 and he goes back to Paris on the ac870.

betterdenu452 2 years ago
A better question, will Air Canada be hiring in ten to twenty years, that's about how long you'll have to build hours to get a job with them.
