The inevitable 'racist' question aside, this was simply not funny. I have checked out Brendan Burns on the recommendation of friends but I don't think he's remotely funny. I also watched that clip when he confronted an audience member who accused him of racism and he told her to fuck off. Obviously it was all staged.
For people who thought it was racist, you need to see the full show. The full show is about the stupidity of racism, watching a minute clip does not convey the message. In fact, he used one of the most intelligent methods of highlighting racism I've ever seen from a comedian. You will think he's a complete racist until you see the end of the show. Buy the DVD

It's the same thing I felt when I travelled to Austin, Texas one time, entered a 7-11 store then the Indian / Pakistani guy went "Would that be all sir?" with a really DEEP southern accent. Made my head explode.
i used to go to alot of gigs and sit at the front for intereraction, i didnt mind it comming if i could give it back. the best comedians know the line between offence and joke. i remember one really cool and funny guy did an accent but quickly changed it when we didnt laugh after all the shows for everyone. i think brendon burns is more of a 70s throwback much funnier people arround.

Haha, it is funny but Indians, Pakistans, Chinese (of that origin anyway) people who grow up in Scotland have that accent naturally, they're not adopting anything ... that's like saying a Chinese American is adopting an American accent.
As it happens, there is no clearer thing in Scotland that marks you as Scottish than the accent.

racism used to be the belief that ones own race was superior to others. Then it morphed into some kind of power thing. Race is prejudice plus power. (that was the definition that brown people picked because they wanted to clean up their violent attacks as being none racist because they had ''no power''.) Not even accidentally racist, Pakistanis and Indians in Scotland do adopt the accent, they don't in many other countries, that's why it sticks out, plus the fact that the Scottish accent is quite coarse compared to their own, I don't get these arseholes who jump around shouting "racist" at everything.

The inevitable 'racist' question aside, this was simply not funny. I have checked out Brendan Burns on the recommendation of friends but I don't think he's remotely funny. I also watched that clip when he confronted an audience member who accused him of racism and he told her to fuck off. Obviously it was all staged.

For people who thought it was racist, you need to see the full show. The full show is about the stupidity of racism, watching a minute clip does not convey the message. In fact, he used one of the most intelligent methods of highlighting racism I've ever seen from a comedian. You will think he's a complete racist until you see the end of the show. Buy the DVD

i used to go to alot of gigs and sit at the front for intereraction, i didnt mind it comming if i could give it back. the best comedians know the line between offence and joke. i remember one really cool and funny guy did an accent but quickly changed it when we didnt laugh after all the shows for everyone. i think brendon burns is more of a 70s throwback much funnier people arround.
