It has occurred to me that Bill Gates may on balance end up causing more human suffering than any other single individual in History. 1) via the daily misery wrought upon millions of people by the soul crushingly, spirit sappingly aweful software his company have foisted upon the world over the last 20+ years. 2) via spending the vast profits so generated eliminating the few diseases which ever stood a hope of keeping human numbers in check, hence precipitating a global Malthusian catastrophe.

hmm, I think the tax thing is true but not all of it. And as for microsoft, no one was saying that when it created jobs and a way for all of us tobetter become connected with one another. This isn't as bad as us having no say over how the government keeps spending the peoples money and how we get taxed more and more for what ever THEY want to do. Actually I do know, because I have worked for foundations like this. A lot of money is spent on unnecessary administration and you are lucky if $1 out of every $10 is actually used for the intended charity.

If the charity is able to help millions even billions of people around the world, why does it matter where they get the money, is it not possible that companies, such as shell, also have concerns about the people of nigeria too? Its unfortunate but theres a trade off for any action. You go into the bathroom and say, "i'll save a tree, and use the blow dryer." Chances are, oil or coal was burnt to power it. So you can waste energy or trees. Although i'll just shake the shit outta my hands until they're dry.
