Large specimens but it's a shame that they don't keep their red and yellow striping.

@Tubeillicious its probably the tank. fire eels kept in excellent conditions will keep the color even if they get large. even though they are at an aquarium, i'd say the tank is too small...

@zaracki92 how big do you think a tank would have to be to house a group of fire eels??

@dockwerker depends on how many you are planning to keep. For 2~3 decent size fish, a 180 gallon would be alright. Live plants would help.

@zaracki92 ok, thx have a 100 gallon tank now but thats only big enough for one..always have live plants and lots of wood in it, dont like the fake stuff i always want to give them the best nature look possible thx for you're answer now i have a minimum tanksize to aim for...

@dockwerker well, you could get a couple now. It'll take them a while to grow out. By that time, upgrade as you feel the need. I currently have a fire eel and tire track eel growing out in a 20 gallon tank. They'll be moved to a 180g possibly within a few months.

@zaracki92 thats great but i dont know if i can surely upgrade in the next few months so i'll wait with getting more than this tank can handle ...if i get a new house than i'll have a nice big tank built but ye never know when ye get a house he hahaha

@dockwerker then just get one :P he'll definitely be fine in there and you'll get to enjoy being an eel keeper.

@zaracki92 haha i will thx for the info, i used to have one years ago but that was a tank without a cover on it and found him under the tank. now years later and a lot smarter on how to keep fish, bought a better tank with a huge eheim filter on it so the search for an eel begins :D

@dockwerker good luck bro, these are surely some interesting creatures. First when I got mine, it jumped out as well but my dog found it in time and let me know :P
